The creator's of Yonder, that was their first game and they made a second one called Grow: Song of The Evertree that isn't a huge departure from Yonder but it's definitely much more recognizable as it's own game with influence from other series being scarce. It seem with their second game they really pushed the envelope and made something pretty unique and the artstyle only got better and more unique to match it. It's a very pretty game but still isn't really meant for difficulty or combat, laid back games are their forte and I'm all for that personally. I wouldn't call Grow a BoTW Clone by any means BUT, worth a play for sure. Upon further research, it seems that the small Studio is made up of 3 people, each previously working for big studios like Bethesda, Blizzard and SEGA. One had worked on the Batman Arkham Series and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Each also have over 15 year's of experience. Truthfully, considering the size of the studio and scope of the game's they've made so far...i'm actually impressed and it's no wonder the games look so good, their first one might have been a bit of a clone but it was still unique in it's own way. I hope to see them make more game's in the future and think supporting them is honestly a great idea.

The equipment and skill system in Immortals Fenyx add A TON to the combat and stuff, I love it. Armor sets and weapon buffs that actually change the way you play in a significant way. Actually somewhat difficult enemies. oh!! Also, the equivalent of BOTW's shrines, whatever they were called? They are so much more varied and interesting than the botw puzzles it's ridiculous!! Even 40+ hours in I was still finding shrines that used the different skills/mechanics in clever new ways, whereas in botw honestly I kinda stopped caring about shrines after I got a lot of them cause they're just too simple (although the DLC shrines were actually pretty great). It's like they took all of botw's systems/mechanics and added to them. Obviously it lacks the polish of it's predecessor, and the narration style won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I genuinely think its superior in a lot of ways! I hope they looked at it for inspiration when making botw 2, cause fenyx did a surprising amount right (I really loved the more varied mounts too. And how it just materializes under you lol. I just found a weird ethereal ghost reindeer thing a couple days ago, it's pretty sick)

Fenyx Rising is definitely a good game when it comes to satisfying a BOTW itch. It has over world puzzles, shrines, exploration. The writing is probably the most decisive aspect of the game though, you either enjoy it or find it absolutely cringe inducing and it has such a constant presence in the game that I can see it hampering someones enjoyment. Definitely something that could use a toggle, at least as far as non-cutscene voice overs go. Edit: I played on Switch and don't remember any frustrating series of crashes. So that's an unfortunate downside of the PC port I suppose. I definitely recommend playing on consoles. The game opens up later, with Clashing Rocks serving as the Great Plateau of this game, and the rest of the golden isle being entirely open to explore. The combat is definitely a highlight, though as you progress you will eventually break it and trivialize it. Again, it really is about whether you can get past the writing or not, as that seems to be the game's biggest downside.
@pixelcount350
@pixelcount350 Жыл бұрын
The writing is meant to be a comedy. If you don't find it funny then you won't like it but for many its a highlight and for others its a hindrance.

It’s unfortunate Immortals crashed so much for you. I played it on PlayStation and LOVED it. I actually really enjoyed "Immortals: Fenyx Rising". I've always loved mythology, so I loved going around finding all nods to the stories I had read about. So, Windbound is actually a roguelike game. It’s really nothing like BotW or WindWaker except in its aesthetics. It’s a really fun survival roguelike with a really cool story. After you clear the first islands’ boss fight, you unlock the ability to make more boat parts, including sails, and a lot of the game becomes about building customized sailboats and sailing around between islands. It’s super fun, and I absolutely loved my time with it.

found this video while I was literally replaying Fenyx Rising on the Switch! I got it for $20 USD, and had enough fun with it to grab the DLC as well. The dialogue is pretty non-stop, some bits are funny, some are not, but overall I liked it (matter of taste of course). But where the game really gets going is combat, particularly aerial combat. You get a move where you can pull yourself towards an enemy. So you do that with the flying enemies, get a few hits in, then pull yourself back in, find the next target, repeat. I had so much fun doing that! But, yeah, my opinion would be different if it was crashing a lot. If you find it cheap on a console, it's worth a pickup and play through. Looking for things to tide me over until Tears of the Kingdom, Blue Fire and Oceanhorn seem like things I'd like! Thanks for the reviews!

It’s a pleasure to watch and listen to you. You are so enthusiastic and not trying to focus on the imperfections of the games, not willing to bash and destroy them. A good relief on KZbin ! I played the whole Fenyx game on switch (30 CAD on sale) and experienced only one crash. I thought it was actually a good game even if the dialogues were… well… sometimes you smile but it’s quite heavy. At least in French the voices are better… Fenys doesn’t have such a high pitched voice and there are not forced and fake Greek accents. This might help. And you can get some pieces of Greek mythologies though the game and dialogues, which is interesting. Yonder might also be a good choice for kids, so they can experiment this kind of games without the stress of the enemies.

fyi, fenyx rising has no issues with crashing on the switch. my take on the game is: it's huge, you have to get used to the dialogue cuz it literally never stops, the battle tech is the best part of the game (and visuals, it's very pretty), and it has a pretty good final boss fight, but it lacks variation. everything is built on a few key building blocks and they just repeat those building blocks everywhere, on a massive scale. overall I enjoyed playing it to the end, but doubt I'll go back and do it over again, it's just too repetitive.

I just finished Windbound, and I actually enjoyed it a lot. It is a low story, exploration focussed game, but I found it relaxing. The knife is practically useless to fight with, but some sticks and made spears, and eventually bows. And when you make a sail you can move way faster on the ocean.

You got lots of patience. I dislike tedious repetition after death. I mean, it's okay for dungeon crawler type game. But an exploration/survival type? lol Imagine if skyrim did that. "You're finally awake" for the 73rd time.

I liked it somewhat, but I just couldn’t deal with the way I had a shortage of basic materials later in the game when I had to toss said material in the first islands/worlds. I also really couldn’t deal with the stupid purple fog poison islands. The game is sort of chill, but suddenly you’re faced with areas that just made me stressed haha. The way you always have to keep on moving is frustrating to me. I’d rather want to build more of a base. And why can’t you sleep? The health and food bar aren’t good enough either. Why isn’t there a separate health potion or smt? So many small things that made me give it up at the fourth “world”.

@@amandaa8472I couldn't feed her fast enough to do anything but keep trying to feed her (and failing). That in itself made the game so difficult that I had to turn on a cheat system where I could have no drop in hunger. I also used unlimited storage (caused slight glitches) because the amount of space needed compared to amount available was forcing you to basically drop numerous necessary items. I also used something to make my weapons not break faster than I could get more. I've heard these things are a bit typical of survival games, so perhaps the real thing is I apparently dislike survival games. But things like BotW and its Eventide Island quest was fantastic.

I'm genuinely interested in eventually playing the Oceanhorn games. They're very Zelda-inspired, but that's not a bad thing. More Zelda-like stuff is cool imo. :) (I have the same opinion with Pokémon-inspired Monster Tamers like Coromon)

I'm curious what you'd think of The Pathless (2020), which I loved. It's a (small) open world, your only weapon is a bow, upgrades and puzzles are scattered around ruins, you have a spirit eagle companion, and each area is gated by a boss fight, so you could easily argue it's a subset of certain Zeldas.

Fun vid! I’ve watched Iron Pineapple’s originals, but since I’ve never played a souls-like, the game-play is mostly impenetrable to me. It’s just fun to hear him laughing. But Zelda I understand a little better, and BoTW I understand extremely well, so I can appreciate this vid a lot and really enjoyed it. I hope you do more!

I played windbound because it really did remind me of breath of the wild from the previews. What I found was a game where you're supposed to accomplish some stuff while exploring but your hunger dropped faster than you could replenish it. It was a never-ending struggle to survive, much less accomplish anything else.

Immortals fenyx rising is actually fun once you pass "initial zone" with a lot of tutorials and mandatory first quest with that dialog. After that you're basically free to go, the dialog starts again only when you start any other bigger quests like saving one of the gods (same thing as with beasts in botw). I actually really enjoyed it!

Blue fire was one of my favorite platforms to play. Some of the void levels were a PAIN in the ass to do, especially for the extra Lore portion (for those who know, you know) but really fun to explore and play. I also loved the little Emote as they also helped unlock certain puzzles or extra goodies (plus they were fun to use) and the many different spirit options to help you level up or get through certain bosses. I give it a 8.5/10, would recommend anyone to play :)

I've actually played Blue Fire and Immortals to 100% completion. The former on Switch and the latter on PS4. Played them early last year I believe. Blue Fire was a lot of fun, but some of the void levels get to be pretty tough. The increased movement options make it a great time though. Just have to remember to not get greedy with it. Or at least be careful when you do. As for Immortals? It goes on a bit long if you do platinum like I did, but even just doing most things is a good time. And the running commentary reminds me of Portal on some level. The comments are pretty common at first, but you get further in its mostly just when you do quests. Either way I do enjoy it.

Having watched a lot of Steam Dumpster Diving and also being a big fan of BotW, I couldn't not watch this, and it was a blast beginning to end! Gonna go check out your other videos now :) Also, I went down a rabbit hole for about 20 minutes and found all the composers with the piano in Bike of the Wild, from left to right there's: Antonio Vivaldi, George Frederic Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, Richard Wagner, Johan Strauss II, Pyotr Ilyovich Tchaikovsky, and Edvard Grieg. I'd heard of them all but couldn't identify any by picture except Bach, Mozart and Beethoven lmao
