All the comments from the clearly superior and more talented keyboard picklers aside - I loved watching this match Austin. You both played well, made lots of great shots and many errors too - just like in real life play - right all you keyboard picklers?! Looking forward to KZbin videos of all the keyboard picklers fire matches. Let’s see them! Can hardly wait.

you can play any sport at older age. of course, you are not likely to play competitively against substantially younger players. that is why in most sports there are age bands for competitive ranking purposes. take track and tennis as examples. beginning around 40, all the age bands are 5 year groups. within each age group, the dominant players are typically the youngest. *rarely* is there someone who is dominant while playing in a younger age group. technique and playing experience are *valuable* but, in a physical sport, being *physical* is the dominant factor and that is *highly* correlated with age. you can be physical at any age but you are quite unlikely to be as physical as you were 5 years ago. there exists a surprisingly large collection of super senior athletes in track and tennis and probably all non-collision sports. get out there and play!!!

@ProfessorB.
@ProfessorB. 2 ай бұрын
@@niniyaya7392it looks like his front foot is on the line before hit hits the ball. He then hits the ball before stepping outside the kitchen again. If he had stepped out of the kitchen with both feet on the ground before hitting the ball it would have been ok, but he didn’t.
@madrum
@madrum 2 ай бұрын
Austin’s foot was on the line when he went up for the lob. His foot may have slid back out of the kitchen as part of his swing, but you have to clearly “re-establish” your feet outside the kitchen before hitting the ball out of the air. From what I’ve seen in PPA events on KZbin, the refs don’t typically acknowledge the slide out of the kitchen as re-establishing outside the kitchen, but not sure why. The USA pickleball rule book says, “9.D. If a player has touched the non-volley zone for any reason, that player cannot volley a return until both feet have made contact with the playing surface completely outside the non-volley zone. A maneuver such as standing within the non-volley zone, jumping up to hit a volley, and then landing outside the non-volley zone is a fault.”

I’m no expert but consider this: you were playing like you were playing doubles- always right up to the kitchen line. When I play doubles I stay back a bit more. Notice how often you opponent played in the middle (no man’s land) or even all the way back at the serving line. Singles is a bit more like tennis that way. Am I wrong? Like I said I am no expert!
@pickleballplaybook
@pickleballplaybook 2 ай бұрын
Singles pickleball is very interesting. If you watch women’s they tend to stay back a bit more because they can’t cover as much court. If you watch men’s Pro they return and volley (return and run to the kitchen line). Check out some pro singles PPA matches and you’ll become an expert pretty quick!
@MichelleH45

Depends on the ball. If I hit a good deep return that moves my opponent or puts a lot of pressure on them, I go in. If my ball is short or weak, I stay back.

You and I can walk and walking is not even recreational, but that does not mean we will be top 10% at a walking competition (just an guestimate, maybe even fewer than 10% of PB players are 5.0). There are tons of PB players with tennis background like you. So it's like walking, you have to beat all these folks to get to 5.0. And that's not simple task. I'm pretty good at tennis too and have been playing PB for 3 months now, and barely get to 4.0. Post your DUPR or it's just all talk.
