Nice commentary. I have noticed that Anna does not look into the options for ignoring her opponents threats quite enough and tends to sometimes make a defensive move where a bit of extra thought would find a good move that sharpens the game to her advantage. I was taught this concept at 12 by the first strong IM I beat, where when analyzing after the game whenever I made a threat he would ask "Can I ignore the threat?". Unfortunately, playing at modern speed controls can lead to some overly conservative moves, in general.

@TomJones-tx7pb
@TomJones-tx7pb Жыл бұрын
@@rooksman64 For the sake of equal treatment. I have noticed that given the choice between positional play and attacking chess, Eric tends towards choosing unjustified attacking lines that have long term negative positional consequences. He is also attracted to candidate moves that have a simple trap in them compared to a more solid positional choice. "One-move-itus", to use a line from another great streamer. The Stafford gambit, for example, is easily refuted but his streams never show that line (hint: look at the refutation of the reverse Stafford Gambit). To be fair to both of them they are wonderful and entertaining streamers, each with their own streaming styles, that probably infects their tournament chess.
