I once played an MP game as a Habsburg..... I formed BIG Switzerland and made all players (except an Italy player) partially Habsburg or made them fully switch. Ultimetely the campaign ended in me owning Kingdom of Switzerland (which included Savoy) and Kingdom of Egypt, my wife was made Queen of England and at one point my heir even owned half the HRE by fcking over the Italy player, ultimetely his realm went into a civil war. In the end the session ended in my heir being the heir to Kingdom of Switzerland, England and Egypt

I believe there's a way to play as the founding dynasty in the earliest bookmark with the decision to build Castle Habsburg and found the new house. Or maybe that's a More Bookmarks+/RICE/other mod I'm thinking of. Or CK2.

You can definitely play as the dynasty that they came from. (I think they are in Strasburg) I don't think there's a proper decision to form the Habsburgs as a cadet branch, but you can definitely do that yourself. If you copy their heraldry from 1066 you can even look just like them
