The lighting system is something that Assassin's Creed has been needing since the beginning. It's crazy that they're just now doing it, especially since Ubi was the company that perfected it in Splinter Cell. Ubi knows how to do stealth better than any other game company. I'm glad that its finally here, but it feels long overdue, like they just got lazy.

I miss when most 3rd person games, had the character centered in the middle of the screen, like Witcher 3, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, etc. The far left thing bugs me. Batman wasn't bad because when you entered combat, your character was centered. I just wish there was more camera options in games to cater to everyone's needs.

I am probably in the minority but I actually enjoyed Mirage. It is a tighter focused game in a very detailed city and I found the combat fun. This preview of Shadows leans towards the positive so I am looking forward to the game. As always the Anvil graphics engine continues to amaze in AC games.

@ didn’t have to. I have played Ghost and everything showcased can do be done with Jin Sakai. Their trailer with a rap beat in historic Japan with a black samurai, copy and paste combat mechanics from the past 3 games that visually don’t look anything close to how visceral Ghost combat does, and I’ve seen nothing visually that looks at beautiful as Ghost depiction of Japan.

Ghost of Tsushima is a completely ashistorical game. The whole "fight with honor" thing doesn't make any sense because samurai were primarily hit-and-run horse archers at the time and nobody would try to shame Jin for going guerrilla. Samurai didn't use swords as a primary weapon then, and the swords they had didn't look like cool anime katanas. There wouldn't be all those women warriors running around. Fire arrows aren't a real thing. Writing little standalone haikus wasn't a thing. It's a fantasy based on movies and imagination.

Great preview. There is alot of negativity surrounding the game. But it's not even out yet. I think people should atleast be fair. And praise things the game does well. But it does not seem people want to hear anything positive. Which is a shame. I will wait for reviews but if the game turns out decent/good to great then i have no issues buying and playing it. He hated TLOU Part II because he knew in the sea of positive reviews and critical acclaim, with his video title, he would garner a lot of attention and earn a lot of revenue from posting that and catering to the gamers who hated it simply because of story decisions they didn't agree with versus the rest of the game that you also have to actually review. He knows for a fact that Ubisoft is being dogpiled on by the vocal community and he knows the controversy and sentiment surrounding AC Shadows. It is very simple to cater to that and have your base eat up that you don't like the game so it satisfies the current sentiment and has those gamers on your side feeding into your revenue. I enjoy most of his content but I have seen certain reviews from him that play like he knows exactly what he is doing in terms of maximising views on his channels and those reviews in particular I really don't agree with because they are always his worst written reviews and his most surface level and see-through. It still exists the part of him from his Laymen Gaming days of how to make sure you always put out the opinion that is most agreeable to the platform you're on. I have seen a fair few of the previews for AC Shadows and it is telling me and showing me that it is looking to be a great entry in the series. Some of the toxicity I am seeing is simply because of personal politics (with the usual weird opinions and overtly racist takes, whilst also attempting to speak for a culture they know virtually nothing about - the overwhelming majority of Japanese do not care at all about this game or the controversy around it, just stop putting words in their mouths) or the usual Ubisoft bad slop. There are real criticisms to level at Ubisoft and their work culture. But to overtly despise a video game so vehemently with nothing really tangible at all to support your critiques other than your hatred of Ubisoft, well, that is an ill-informed opinion and not really an actual critique of the game itself. It is also funny when people believe the RPG AC's are terrible considering they are the best selling entries in the franchise and kept increasing in sales with each entry so far, meaning that the majority of gamers actually do enjoy the modern formula and don't need to vocally scream from the rooftops about it. I think people forget that we had 9 video games in this franchise with the exact same formula, which ultimately was perfected in Black Flag and proceeded to have bad returns with every entry afterwards. I grew up with the franchise and know very well of the actual consensus these games were receiving past Black Flag and the fatigue that began killing the franchise. They were all the same. By the time one reached Syndicate you just couldn't anymore, the OG AC formula had become so boring and tired, there was nothing left to squeeze from it and none of the games after Black Flag topped it. Origins was a breath of fresh air and the critical consensus reflected that. It overhauled the formula and started leaning into RPG mechanics and each game after delved deeper and deeper into that. Frankly I am not tired yet of this formula as each game has added its own spins to it and changed it up whilst keeping the underlying system in place from Origins. This will be only the fourth entry of the RPG games and despite the clamouring for old AC, Mirage was released and designed with giving that kind of experience to players and it didn't come close to the sales Valhalla garnered. Nor did it review as well. Because going back to that formula is stale in comparison to what they are doing currently. Can it be better? For sure. But I laugh at those who actually haven't really bothered to go through the entire franchise back to back and understand exactly why from Origins moving forwards, Ubisoft chose this direction. It really isn't rocket science. I also laugh at the Unity worship given how many gamers loathed it on release and now want to go back and elevate it despite it playing the exact same with the same myriad of brokenness plaguing it as it did on release. It's like Star Wars fans who absolutely loathed the prequels and bullied the actors involved in it back in the day, completely full on screeching something chronic about them and then many years later decide to put them on a pedestal and worship them and give them endless praise because they want to weaponise it against the sequels...despite them being the exact same films those same people utterly hated and want to pretend they always loved. The hypocrisy is quite astounding. It's always motivated by disingenuous agendas and it is eye roll inducing. Please, actually bother to engage with what you are critiquing and use some intelligence. Ubisoft bad is not really an actual critique and dismissing the game as soulless when it quite clearly isn't at all sure is something. The Devs are the ones who are passionate in their jobs and creating art, the hate Ubisoft gets over the more common issues people have with them are from the executive class. It is disrespectful to the hard work of the Dev teams to throw them under the bus and call their work and effort "soulless" because you have chosen to outright hate everything made by Ubisoft. The only soullessness plaguing the industry is from executives, it always is. Direct your ire towards them if you must have ire and stop taking it out on the working class.

I strongly disagree with your opinion of AC Valhalla. It was a strong title in the franchise, and many players enjoyed it, as evidenced by its success. The game offered a variety of activities, such as orlog, flyting, drinking mini-games, and assassinations. Additionally, players could discover dozens of mysteries, find special gear, or weapons. It was an excellent game, and my favorite of the three RPG versions.

They do not. They haven't done that since pre-origins. Enemies will attack you whilst you're attack someone else. Plenty of examples to be found in everyone's footage. The enemies even interupt the special moves.
