I agree for the warfare component. I really enjoy playing ops with a couple friends and utilizing the skill diversity to engage enemy players. There are definitely standouts for usefulness, but there's definitely room for using multiple skills. Having said that, I am only lvl 23 and haven't played anything other than Dam, so maybe things get way out of whack later in the game.

I was interested up until I learned the game had operators. Is it so much to ask for a shooter that actually has a somewhat serious tone and doesn't undermine itself every 5 minutes with jokey, out of place dialogue? Also, it just looks ridiculous when you have 4 identical copies of the same character all fighting each other. Oh, and they fill out the matches with AI bots to make it seem fuller than it is. That alone is a deal breaker.

On the topic of smoke spam, I think if Thermal optics existed/were able to penetrate smoke it would make them feel better, and provide counterplay if they had something like White Phos or some sort of incindiary grenade. Thermals are useless around an incin, but useful in a smoke, vice versa with normal optics. Its hiw battlefield used to work, untill 2042 kinda fucked that ballance over and make smokes obnoxious, and thermals next to pointless.

I played the closed alphas & now the open beta on PC, and I also have around 50 hours in BF2042. There are several major issues: 1. Operators 100% ruin the gameplay. Every single squad/team fight devolves into spamming abilities, people dashing around, getting xray vision through smoke, etc. because of how readily available the various Operator abilities are AND how powerful they are. Not only is this completely unimmersive, it just feels way too goofy for this franchise and to be honest I would rather just play BF2042 because at least it's not quite as jank. 2. Free-to-play but at what cost? It IS a good thing this game is FTP, however it's only in open beta and they already have tons of obnoxious operator/weapon skins. Again, if I wanted to experience this in a BF-format, I would just play BF2042. 3. There is a lot of unnecessary grind. Unlocking weapons, yet again, comes down to arbritrary metrics like player & weapon level. Why? I get this has been the norm for decades now, but why can't we have more games that have cooler, more interactive ways of unlocking weapons & weapon attachments other than "use this weapon in its pretty terrible, base form with zero attachments until you finally unlock the stuff you actually want to use." 4. No server browser. This is really bad, I don't know what else to say. People's experience with their matchmaking systems is contrary to what the devs have stated so clearly there is something wrong with the matchmaking. This wouldn't be as much of an issue if they add a server browser. 5. Last major issue is either due to my own lack of map awareness, actual map design (number of flank routes), or too many players per map. Maybe it's my nostalgia, but I swear I recall BF3/4 having much more tactics involved other than pick a general direction to find enemies. Also the number of times I get constantly flanked is crazy, but that could unironically be a skill issue :D Look, the devs have potential to turn Delta Force into a game similar to BF3/4 - they just need to implement a game mode without the use of operators. The gameplay vibes currently are extremely similar to BF2042 because of how spammy/ability-driven every team fight feels. If the devs really care, they should add a non-operator gamemode.

@@aashilr True the operator's abilities are a big issue right now. Do not forget that in BF3/4 though a large part of the gameplay was just looking for the red Doritos on your map so some of it is rose tinted glasses. The server browser may be something on the horizon, the game is still just in it's beta after all, so we'll have to wait and see. Leveling weapons isn't that big of an issue because you can unlock XP tokens from simply logging in so even a new player will at least have some attachments for their primary weapon and it makes leveling other weapons much less painful since you don't have to start at square one. My biggest complaints are that the game is now in beta yet the game is already crammed with microtransactions and then there is the fact that some cosmetics can only be earned through a gacha, which is predatory as all get out. Then there is the fact some maps just devolve in Operation Locker from BF4 where tactics go out the window and it's just 2 walls of teams just meat grinding until the defense hopefully breaks.

I hate the operators in this game, it's so hard to determine friend from foe. I typically recognize outfits, but everyone's camo looks the same. I wish they had enemy and friendly camps for the operators. Otherwise I knew bf2042 was gunna be a shit show, this game has issues, A LOT of issues, but it's a good start. Wish they would change the operator system. Make the operators skins, and use a generic soldier with specific camos. They could, game is bright enough for it.

Also obvious is that the genre is not something you enjoy, otherwise you would have covered it before and would have noticed that the game blatantly copies the UI, operators, maps and some gameplay elements from Battlefield 2042, not to mention it had art from 2042 in the description of the mobile version. Yes, it improves some of the criticized elements but it still has a lot to work on and has copied the most critiqued feature of 2042 - the hero element. Also the DNA of mobile games (that the devs have experience in) is hard to ignore. At least you mentioned in the beginning that the video is sponsored by them so we know your "review" is not genuine. Been waiting long for that game and I loved the pre-release test (that gun moding system!), but when it released I heard they are using the same anti-cheat as League of Legends does, and in that game it could kick you out for having "cheat engine" words in one of your browser tabs. And they never disproved any allegations thrown at that anti-cheat, just excuses. I have plenty of other games to play.
