I played Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and its Great! HANDS ON GAMEPLAY

So here we are with some of my thoughts on Fatal Fury City of the Wolves from my hands on time at the Summer Game Fest! Ill say it quick there is timestamps, and I sorta did the vid backwards talking about hardcore mechanics talk before talking about my general thoughts, so use timestamps to skip around I guess lol, thats just how my brain works and always thinking about how everything works first. In the next day or two expect a couple city of the wolves character specific videos as well. Probably Preecha and Vox. Vox is all new, Preecha isn't, but with what I learned about her it made me realize there's almost no actual info about her and there's quite a bit to her so... yeah we will dig in! I barely touched rock and Terry in my time cause while they are neat and all, they are very known quantifies, rock and terry play like rock and terry. So I went for the unexplored territory! Anyways watch the vid and all that game cool and I like it

I like to keep my circle of fighting games small to keep my skills sharp in the games I really like, but so far it looks like I’m adding this to the pool. This looks really good. Also thank you for pointing out how fantastic the art style is. Now a days developers like to brag about the rendering of peach fuzz hair of the protagonists 400 quintillion polygons. Art style always trumps sheer fidelity.

Ok I'm going to throw something out into the universe that has no chance of coming into reality, but that I couldn't stop thinkin' about all video. Juri Han as a guest character. Just hear me out. We got Terri coming to SF6. It's only fair if SNK borrows somebody for their own game. Ryu... is cool, and all, but a little dry for a system with so many cancels baked into it Juri, though? Juri *sells*. And Juri has always had Feng Shui engine. Her kit is basically built to allow her to cancel everything in to everything! You wouldn't even need to mess around with her much to fit her in, and she'd bring over a bunch of curious Capcom fans.

I gotta say, this is so far one of the nicest looking fighting games this generation. There's a lot of variety in visuals now with CotW thrown into the mix. I think this, SF6 and Granblue are the best looking games with the most variety. CotW is a modern mix of American Comic Books and Japanese character designs with a strong emphasis on stylized shading, colors, and effects. SF6 has a cool urban theme and the most attention to detail with the best mixture of realism, stylized characters, and high quality animations. Granblue is the best looking anime styled fighting game right now with super nice backgrounds and the fantastic "limited" animations that ArcSys tends to use.

The "Ah Shit" from Vox had me legitimately laughing out loud. I'll definitely have to check him out when the game comes out. Hope they announce at least 1-2 more grapplers. Perhaps a smaller/pixie grappler. Honestly, the free-form nature is a little intimidating as someone who's really only played SF6. Seems like there's a lot of options/mechanics that could feel a bit overwhelming to newer fighting game players.

Mai is like a C-tier character and she is mostly just known for excessive marketing and large tits. Her most major contribution to the world of SNK outside of the two obvious mentions is her inability to convince Andy to sleep with her. I really wouldn't call her the "first lady." She has a cool moveset tho.

I personally like the emphasis on the high/low crushes in this game. I guess as someone who grew up with 3D fighters, I like appreciate these things to add more depth to the game. I guess I'm a sucker for slo-mos as well. The slo-mos in Tekken 7 & 8 are cool, while allowing for some potentially funny moments.

A bit of an edge case, but does Just Defend still regenerate a little HP? And if it does, can you regenerate back into SPG if you're out of it like you could with TOP in MotW?

yep just defend gives you a smidge of HP back every time you do it, on top of lowering your rev meter. You SHOULD be able to regen back into SPG, but i don't have specific footage of it

This game still looks fantastic and I'm definitely going to pick it up but the insane amount of mechanics is already intimidating as someone who doesn't really play SNK games. It's the reason I couldn't get into KOF 15 and I hope it doesn't handicap this games popularity more than it already is.

I think more mechanics is a good thing, SNK is not on the trend of simplification. That said while there's certainly more mechanics in this game than the average fighter, I dont consider any particular one of them overwhelming. Stuff like Rev accel flows together a lot better and easier than multiple drive rush cancels per combo as it just cuts out the middle man

@@rooflemonger I hope that's the case, I think more mechanics are fine if they just flow together and are well implemented. I'm someone who's played tons of fighters but KOFs Max Mode and all of its systems just really turned me off it. It doesn't have to simplify but I can definitely see the pros of streamlining mechanics just so it plays well.

she is joes student. The preecha video is live, shes similar to joe in terms of the aesthetic but shes very much her won character not just joe 2.0
