This game is a personal favorite of mine not only because its extremely well made - every year on october 31st, when you load a new game and head down into the basement, the door where the piano usually is becomes unlocked and inside is a Ouija board and theres a ton of secret things you can input into it!

I've heard of this game all these years, but never was interested enough to watch any playthrough of it, until you played it :D It aged like a fine wine under these 6 years, such a clean and solid experience. I love that they didn't rely on jumpscares only, allowing constantly changing surrounding to do its job. Like a PT game on everlasting crack :D And the transitions were the most clean and accurate I've ever seen in any other game. I guess they had to perfect them, since game heavily relies on them throughout itself. The storytelling was through subtle details and items, that was a nice touch, that not everything was right into the player's face, they needed to read between the lines and work out what has happened. Love all of your playthrough, whether they're of horror or non-horror games, your genuine experience of them is the best! So cool, that you were able to get the best possible ending for this horrifying story ❤ It rightly feels, that it doesn't deserve any happy ending, but it was like small steps into healing and redemption direction for the main chracter

I don't know if this has been explained, but what I get from the lore: [VERY LONG READ AHEAD] The character you play has a beautiful wife, a daughter, and a mansion. He is also painter who is slowly getting a recognition in the art world. He is so proud about his wife's beauty that he painted his masterpiece - "The Lady in Black". But things start to take a turn in their years of married life. The theater/mall where the wife will be performing to has caught on fire. The fire severely damaged the wife's body. (I think she was also bound to the wheelchair, but I'm not sure about this). In addition, the man also started to get criticisms for his art (and foul attitude), saying his work is ugly, thus going into a downward spiral of mental and emotional meltdowns. I think he's also schizophrenic, proved by how he constantly hears the rats in the house even if the pest control confirmed that there are no signs of house infestation. The wife had undergone skin transplant, but he was unpleased by the results of the operation. He started to neglect his wife and force his daughter to follow his footsteps of being an artist. He has also become a raging alcoholic, which made his wife hate him. She also resented his painting of "The Lady in Black" - to her, that is the proof that his husband had only loved her because of her "looks", and now that she has this deformation, thinking she is useless to him. She talks to this painting as if it was a real person. In the end, the wife committed "hit the floor too hard" in the bathroom. The painter's daughter was also taken by Child Protection Services due to the parents' negligence. The painter, overcome by his grief and desire for "beauty", tried to bring the wife's beauty back to life by painting her once again - using HER BODY parts as his tools: Skin for canvas, her blood for Red Paint, bone for white paint/undercoat, hair for brush, finger for finishing touches, and her eyes as the "audience" (pretty fucked up eh?) Again, there are several endings, and here are my interpretations: Wife/Loop Ending - the painter couldn't move past his desire to bring back his wife with her beauty. Every paintings he has done has at least 1 imperfection. Thus he cannot leave, and he will continue to paint her for eternity Self-portrait ending - i think this is his desire to be a great and well-known painter. Having painted "The Lady in Black", he had thought that he was eligible to be ranked with the masters of art. His art is what is important to him. Wife and daughter - The artist realizes at last his terrible behavior and mistakes, and that it is impossible to bring them back. He retreats to the room of his paintings and sets them alight, along with his newest work, then lies down to allow the flames to consume him as well Sorry for the incredibly long comment!

@@20SidesOfZeke I don't think so... It seems like all the "interactions" were, in fact, real. If we start saying the voiced dialogue bits when he picked up objects wasn't real, then the whole entire thing might as well be meaningless. Like, breaking the 4th wall for a second here, but think of it like we had amnesia, and we slowly were "remembering" the events through these objects.

@@20SidesOfZeke One distinction I'd like to make tho, the hair. I'm pretty sure the hair is from the baby (perhaps just before Child Protection Services took her away) That only makes logical sense to me. We found the hair in the daughters bedroom. And it's very common to tie babies hair like that. Moreover it was the one thing he seemed to - at least initially - regret. For all the other "body parts", he instantly went all mad like, "YES. PERFECT. I NEEDED THIS FINGER FOR THE FINISHING TOUCHES" whereas the dialogue for the hair initially started like "Oh no, what have I done.. She [wife] is going to lose it when she finds out.. Oh well... Too late now... Can't exactly put it back" It also makes sense since this ending actually had the daughter and wife together in the painting.

I'VE NEVER THOUGHT YOU'D ACTUALLY PLAY THIS GAME. I watched gp of this game like back in 2016 I think and then I played it in 2017 and it really was one of the greatest horror games back in that time and honestly I'm glad that now you finished it since I always wanted to watch it or play it again

I’ve played this game 4 times to see what would change if I did things differently, and throughout all 4 playthroughs, not once did I ever get the beginning that you just got. I never got that note in the kitchen, the kitchen did not look like how you just witnessed, and the closet was filled with mouse traps and drawings.

A few days ago, I've dreamed that my mother and my step father would visit me. My step father cut off my cats tail because he thought that it had gotten too long or something- He then disappeared and I've spent the rest of the dream hunting him together with my allies Loki and also Colin Firth for some reason to get revenge but before we managed to find him, I woke up. It was an intense nightmare while I was dreaming... Now I'm laughing about the insanity of it all- Reminds me of that time where I took a nap at work and woke up thinking that I accidentally left my fridge door open and that my cat managed to jump inside and close the door. My roommate had a good laugh about the texts I've sent her while being half asleep, going "can you check inside the fŕidge? I think I accidentally locked my cat in there" xD

I played this one a while back but it was just too boring. I am a huge horror game player but this game was just a running simulator. After I got bored of playing and the cheap jump scares, I spent over an hour non-stop running through the rooms. It was pretty funny seeing the jump scares having every few seconds running through room lol. I am sure others might enjoy the game though.
