I Played Outward 2 And This Might Surprise You

I have officially PLAYED Outward 2!!! Thanks to the great people over at Ninedots Studios, as well as the CEO Gheeyom, I was able to try out the alpha demo of Outward 2. The entire program is designed to show off combat and give us a look at how weapons will work. And I have to say this has me very excited. Every weapon type has many more options. Being able to dual-wield weapons in either hand, having more attack options for two-handed weapons, and running attacks being really fun to make use of. There are a lot of fun aspects to check out here that should have you ready to play Outward 2.
Outward is an RPG/survival game that allows you to make an almost infinite number of builds. Melee, magic, archery, and even traps are scattered across this harsh world in the form of skills. You must have a large amount of money to purchase these skills, but luckily the monsters drop extremely valuable items. The game has been harshly criticized for its realistic and challenging nature. I really hope they maintain the wonder and exploration aspect from the base game and don't delve too much into combat making it a generic RPG. The original Outward is such an escape for me and just roaming about the purple fields of Chersonese, the mystical forests of Enmerkar, seeing the swamp lights in the Marshes and the desert moon in Abrasar was and still is something I come back to again and again.

I wanted to love outward so much, but I was just really bad 😅. I felt like after every combat encounter I was resting and burning through my limited resources till I had to start a new game just to get by. I saw the potential but I just couldn't wrap my head around it. I hope the sequal gets the attention it deserves tho!

Oh no! I'm terrible at fighting, but learned to avoid or run away from a lot of them. And block a lot. Even at high level you can get nailed by a big chicken. You always have to treat to block, roll... and run away.

Super excited for Outward 2, looks amazing. It seems they took notes from some of the mods of Outward 1 😂. More specifically the multiple ability slots mod. If someone deserved to have the chance to play the Alpha demo it's definitely you.

Honestly Outward is pretty close to a perfect experience for an rpg. The only thing I would like to see is a reason to kill non special mobs.

I really like the attack system for the two handed weapons. But even more, the decision to have a mini dash to avoid attacks is something I wish any game trying to be realistic would do. It’s very common in actually melee combat to have a short dash or leap to avoid an attack, and a role would be rare and also inconvenient, so reserved for if someone throws like a fire ball at you.

love everything so far, including the graphics. The thing I wish the most for this game is good mod support, and this isn't totally dependent on the devs I know, but a game like this with a strong modding community can have a near infinite lifespan, not to mention customizing everything to personal taste. Either way, I'm all in for this one, gonna be a banger for sure

Is the Stamina regeneration higher than in Outward (1)? It looks like it to me and I would really appreciate a bit higher base regen^^.But something I don't like so far is the UI... I hope it's a Placeholder. It looks a bit blurry and no so nice at all.

I don't think I saw any burnt health or stamina for the entirety of this video, do you know if they have any plans to implement that system later?

There was no real talk of that mechanic unfortunately. I would imagine the burnt system will come back. It was likely not in the demo due to limited items and wanting to give players a chance to try the combat more than the survival aspects. But I can't be sure of course.

I believe Guillame said during the reveal that they didn't manage to implement those mechanics yet. They had some problems with it but it will surely be in the final game. They didn't do much else than just port everything from Unity to Unreal yet.

What I have noticed was burned health, stamina and mana. Maybe they haven't implemented it in the demo, but if this is a combat focused demo, imo it should have been there. Maybe a hint that burned resources will be gone?

Did they ever fix the camera? I got something like 300+ hours in the game, enjoyed most of the DLC content and I swear the camera is more deadly than any mob. Bugging out and choosing to lock on to an enemy easily 60ft away while there are already 2 you're fighting... that shit really did piss me off, the lock on didn't really "lock". It put you into lock on mode but it never really locked the camera on to ONE enemy, so it could swap between multiple which was honestly infuriating.

Combat looks too fast. The slowness and dedication to attacks was what made it so much fun. That being said the movements look less janky, just slow it down. Graphically it looks beautiful
