UPDATE: I got banned for a couple of days lmao I have an appeal in now and if nothing else hopefully I'll get a clarification, so I'll do a little update video when that comes back, but maybe keep it in mind if you were thinking of trying this for yourself 😅 UPDATE 2 - 2024/05/12: Maybe predictably the appeal was rejected. It was just a couple of days (by the time I noticed the ban had already expired lol), but it’ll stay noted on my account for a year, so maybe more of a “hey knock it off” than anything more serious. No comment from anyone at Jagex, which honestly I’m more sad about than anything else, like a “lol but no” would’ve been nice, but that’s how it is I guess. It’s worth noting that the evidence for the ban was listed as “jagex moderator comment”, which implies to me that I was banned on the basis of the video more than from being detected in game, so make of that what you will, but with the warning on my account for a year I won’t be taking the risk to get that 99 by walking at least. I’ll be taking a little break from OSRS, partly because of burnout from working on this, partly because they don’t do regional pricing and with exchange rates atm membership is crazy expensive right now, but I’ll be back on the grind before too long! I had thought about doing a follow up video to talk more about this, but honestly I’d rather put my energy into the next project than saying what I could be saying with this comment. But otherwise thanks so much everyone for checking out the video, and if you like what I do then I hope you stick around for the next thing (hopefully done by the end of the month!).

This is really very clever of you to come up with. Following the 1:1 rule, to put is simply, this shouldn't be bannable. 1 step per click. It takes 2 clicks to complete 1 high alch. That makes sense. I think Jagex should embrace this concept. It could be the beginning of many people's health journey.

I'm going to go ahead and dispel this myth. I've been playing OSRS since release, and this has been a myth for years and years. Jmods even came out publicly when windows auto-hotkeys were super prevalent pre-"shift drop" and explicitly said that the "1:1 action rule" is NOT true and you CAN STILL BE BANNED for abusing outside software within the game that doesn't comply with their ToS. Period. I don't know why this myth has been floating around for years, probably because people often aren't banned for it, but you absolutely 100% can be banned for using any software that isn't approved by Jagex at any time, including if it only works on a 1:1 basis. Nowhere in their ToS does it say that this 1:1 rule exists - and again, Jmods have outwardly stated that that is not, and has never been a rule. Any time you are not actively clicking the buttons for your character on your screen you run the risk of being banned. Use a software like this at your own risk. secure.runescape.com/m=news/mouse-keys---changes--clarification?oldschool=1 here is one of the few examples of them clearly stating this. They have said it multiple times over the years in Reddit threads, official posts, and livestreams.

In my opinion I don't think it'd be allowed because you're not clicking with your feet, you're using a program to click for you. The 1:1 thing seems to be taken out of context in this vid, "You may now only use your operating system's official default mouse keys program, unless it is to remap a key to any other button." this is a quote from a blog 7 years ago and where this whole 1:1 thing came from, it's just saying that you can rebind buttons to other buttons, says nothing about 1 human action to 1 in game action or anything like that. As far as I'm aware any button presses actually have to be done by you and not a program. Whether this would ever actually get flagged by bot detection is another question though

It’s a Samsung SMX-K40, a weird SD camcorder from that HD crossover period in 2009 (I got it for Christmas at the time 😅) I run it in anamorphic widescreen with the white balance set to the cloudy day preset for that warm, hazy look. Really glad you liked it! Haha oh man I’ve walked past it after a few drinks late at night before and it always gets me.

Whenever I see these type of videos, it goes back to my thinking when they stated the 1:1 rule. If you could wire up a pace maker(now a smart watch) to a mouse or program that clicks for you. Techinally it follows the rule and you should never be banned since your heart is part of you obviously. My next thought is that they would claim you are using third party software or equipment.

It's using a non physical (mouse, keyboard press etc) input to send artificial clicks to the game. It's like saying I could interpret my heartbeat as an action in-game or driving your car and saying your GPS moving on a map is a physical press so legal too.

@@Steven-hq3go heartbeat is questionable but gps makes no sense since its just a computer deciding the actions. if your computer mouse click was bound to your turn signal, mouse move up was bound to steering right, and mouse move down was bound to steering left etc, then it would be perfectly fine. You can always do one action per action just like pressing a button. they have brain powered computers now, people just think about where they want to click and it does it. that's botting more than the method i described above

You’d need to adapt it to connect something like a reed switch on a wheel to your phone and change the code to account for that I think? The pedometer uses the accelerometer and stuff as opposed to GPS, so I’m not sure if that picks up or not. Someone had talked about doing it for a bike, I imagine it’d be a similar process.

Thanks! Really glad people like how it looks. It's just an old camcorder (a Samsung SMX-K40) that records in 576 interlaced, using anamorphic widescreen (16:9 squished into 4:3 with a weird pixel aspect ratio like some old games consoles do), and the white balance set to the cloudy day preset to make everything warm and hazy. You could probably replicate it easily enough in Resolve or something like that.

Agh sorry to hear it. Battery saver settings for the app all turned off? Does it work with the phone unlocked? Unfortunately it could be a bunch of things, including your device just tracking steps in a way I wasn't accounting for like using the accelerometer directly. If you're feeling like getting into it loading up the source code in Android Studio, building to your phone, and keeping an eye on the logcat panel will let you know if there's any errors, but without the device in front of me there's not much I can do to investigate I'm afraid 😞

*maybe* I'm not honestly sure how a Fitbit connects steps to your phone. I was using shock/accelerometer based detection, not GPS, so it's possible that your phone might just forward the Fitbit ones right to the app, but I suspect it'd need modification to manually select that device. (As it is now it should still work on the treadmill if your phone is in your pocket though)

I believe the ban logic here is going to be because a software based step counter is not a true 1:1, software "steps" are determined based off of what that software reads, which is always an approximation based on indirect input. Actual steps can't be verified from the client perspective either. Mouse clickers on the bottom of the shoes through teamviewer mightve been acceptable since those are true direct inputs.

you can splash alch and teleport at the same time i did it at falador on guards in f2p getting like 150k xp per hour lol. actually i stopped splashing cause theres enough guards there to just cast max fire bolts for most xp

@Lowbottomsteez Faux recently got banned for it, and I've had 2 macro minor bans for using it. Jagex has stated its not against the rules yet people still receive bans
