​@@OneTomato In Dune (1984) and the novel, Fremen use maker hooks to ride sandworms. They drive the hooks into the gaps between the worm’s ring segments, forcing it to expose that sensitive area by rolling it upward, which lifts the riders onto its back. They also hook into the worm’s spiracles (exhalation ducts) to guide its movement, using them like reins, I don't expect them to have incorporated something like that in this game, but it would be amazing if they did!!!

You may be surprise but they are working on sandworm riding mechanics, they toke then out of the playtest because it need a lot rework, they have intention to implement it after launch, in fact the hooks for the worm can be obtain in game but they don’t work yet.

Shields aren't used on arrakis alot because they agitate the sandworms

You are not wrong here. Apparently, the developers had to ask the family of dune or the editors if they could change on little detail so modern audiences could understand or play the game to a point. There is an article about it. If you look it up, it should tell in more detail why they added guns in a more common place in dune. I am with you on the guns, but we will see how the game is when finished to give it a full disclosure.

@@Inquisitor_Cadian That just relates to the commonality of the dart guns. They didn't change how the shields of the Dune universe works, people just don't wear shields out in the desert generally because it attracts the worms, that has always been the case since the books. People could always use guns out there, people just generally didn't because if someone did decide to whip out a shield you'd be toast.

I really hope they make the server system like in Conan Exiles where there are a couple public servers but also ability to host your own (as commhnity servers or just for friends) or run a server locally (just for yourself or for friends joining onto your machine).

Even if its more mmo like, im still fine with it if the pvp related systems stay the way they were described in this video: pvp areas limited to points of interest with better loot and yoj inly loose some stuff from inventory when you die to other players, not everything.

Mayeb there is incentive to build in pvpv enabled zones and thus maybe raiding is possible? I guess we will see when they will reveal more about higher level gameplay

I'll give that game the benefit of doubt. And I really hope they add a proper stealth system, as well as melee combat - if I ever plan to get this game, should it improve, I really want to take the traditional Dune approach with swordfighting.

I'm sure they can't add the melee fighting I would want, but combos that have some sick animations like a fremen would fight and use an execute animation when the enemy is low and staggered. And for parrying, if done correctly it would land you a strike on the enemy. And even in combat, if you parry correctly, and your enemy can input the parry command after his attack command if he thinks you will parry then two well timed parries would kind of allow you to push each other off, in the movies there is a lot of blocking instead of stabbing. I don't know if this makes any sense to anyone that reads it, but it makes sense in my head 😂. Anyway hope they figure it out.

It looks so good! It would be perfect in my eyes if they just changed the melee system. It should be all about locked animations were you sort of wrestle your oponent, instead of ''i swing knife, if knife connects, i do damage''. Maybe when you hit someone with your knife you go into a quick close up camera mode that has its own rules, so no strafing while spamming melee, make it look like a real life fight

Yeah maybe like a melee system like For Honor where you lock onto an enemy and can do combos or block. I think that would be good!

This look slike it has so much potential, a little bit of polishing and maybe better animation would make this game absolutely a must play I feel, the whole base system reminds me of Fallout76 but with more environmental thing, definitely looking forward to this. It just needs polishing specially the ui, doesn't look lore friendly enough or intuitive.

I'm interested and i agree with many of your comments, though I find the Square structure base meh, I'd rather see a spherical design as it's a shape many nomad cultures follow. Whilst the game is based on the modern version of Dune I would like to see the 'Wierduan' sound weapon as a rare legendary pick-up just to honour the Original movie as it's the very reason why Dune is now popular again!🤔😏☺️

Everything seems good, UI feels bad with health being hidden in a corner The problem will probably comes with the open world: is it empty or not? More problem will also come with Multiplayer and PvP... how all this will be done? What we see here is definitely a good Solo / Coop games at worst a decent game in that category.

I'm sure a lot of people's complaint will be that the melee animations don't really match up to the complex swordplay of the movies. Whilst this is true, for an non single-player game complex synced animations aren't really that achievable. (personally I hope they refine the melee system more that just block and shiv and then special shiv for certain enemies).

That was my first thought. The movies and the books are all about the skill of fighters such as Duncan Idaho or the Sardaukar and in game you just swish your blade at the enemy. And they barely react to the slashes.

Unreal Engine Metahumans? Emotionless, expressionless... empty canvasses without personality. I develop in UE5 and I still can make myself like Metahumans. They still look weird to me even when moving, walking around. We developers should work carefully with them or using them will backfire and make our games get the Mass Effect : Andromeda {best game of the entire ME franchise!} effect: burial of the game.

puh... still looks like it will need a lot of work. Conan Exiles also needed years of work to be what it is now. I really hoped they learned out of it, but it seems like Dune will end up being as buggy and bad polished when it releases. The Combat, in a mainly PvE Game looks really really bad. The "pew pew" pistols sounds and looks awful.. Thank you for a first Look. I was sceptic when i was at Gamescom in a Preview Event, and even i really hope this is gonna be good, i have my doubts.

It literally works and looks like Once Human. The graphics, the menu, etc the exact same thing. Even the font is the same. wth? So you'll see buildings everywhere in the desert because why not.. I like Dune a lot but running in the desert, building a house in the desert is a bit much. They should have make a proper single player game with a somewhat original idea and you are all good. A Dune mmo was pretty much always a bad idea. It could be a good game for many, but it will not be the one for me. Thanks for the video tho!

The storyline is shit, I was so excited for this closed beta, but after some time I couldn't comprehend why they wrote things the way they did. The storyline, is utter ass. The vehicles are too clean, everything looks like no mans sky buildings and vehicles stuffed into a conan exiles desert. End game is still pvp. And the closed beta discord is nothing but snowflakes. The game, does not do the franchise justice, and the gameplay is actual ass. A shame.
