I would have prefered a 10v10 or 15v15 gamemode, with split objectives so you get both heavy teamfights and roaming. Somewhere in between www and the current gamemodes

Problem with too many game modes is that matchmaking queues get diluted. Chicken and egg dilemma. You need more game modes to attract more players. But on the other hand, not enough players with too many game modes means long queues or games never start. So instead they rotate some of the modes. Maybe a better solution is allow queueing for multiple modes so you join whoever team can be formed first. I haven't tried this mode yet but I'm sure I will like it because small team fights and very simple objectives (or none at all) are right up my alley. Like 4v4 Arena back in GW1.

But something has to come first and it's certainly not the players. Worst case is PvP simply continues to die off but at least then the community has more variety while it lasts. I think people also tend to forget Stronghold exists. According to Anet (in the Push announcment post) only 10% of unranked queues are for Stronghold and I have personally never felt queues to be overwhelmingly long or the match quality to be any worse than Conquest to be honest. So, I think even the current player base can stomach a few additional queues, let alone if it can bring in more pvp players.

Couldn't agree more with your closing points. We need diverse game modes, and we need them to be available all the time. I'm a long time PvPer, and I miss the days of jumping into Warsong Gulch, then Alterac Valley, as those were my favorite BGs back in the day. If Anet can put maybe 1 more game mode (2 flag CTF please), and have them be available all the time, I think we'd be cookin.

CTF would be so broken with gw2's mobility options. Unless all utilities and teleports get disabled, which wouldn't be fun for the flag carrier. Would be interesting to see if they could get that to work, but I think there's a reason why they haven't lol

@@NickMarshman They already have mechanics that can deal with all of those. Look no further than Spirit Watch. Carrying the orb causes movement speed to be decreased by 40%, teleports and invulns cause you to drop the orb. I'm not saying that a CTF map should use those exact mechanics, but I am saying that there are already levers and tools that Anet can leverage to address those very concerns. And that's a very old map, been around for quite a while. So it's not even a new idea.

Why do I keep seeing people say "have them be available all the time". I don't remember seeing anywhere that Push comes and goes, but again maybe I missed something which is def possible

@@dulcetwho5770 In the context of the video, there are game modes that are not available all the time to PvPers, especially in ranked. The missing variable here, is that Vallun mentions in this very video that 2v2s and 3v3s go away when the season ends. No one mentioned Push specifically going away, just that game modes in general need to have more access. Another example is that you cannot in fact play Spirit Watch or Strongholds in ranked (though there may be precedence for those), their lack of availability reduces options for players. Essentially if Player A really enjoys TDM, and Player B really enjoys Conquest, the solution is not to remove or reduce 1 game mode over the other, because all you do is alienate that player base, potentially limiting the number of players willing to stay for PvP.

I liked it so far. Feels different than conquest, and getting 30+ kills is chaotically fun. Solo quing as support is much more enjoyable in push than in conquest, imo. Nice perspectives in video, best explanation of the push objective I've heard. No one knew how to win in my games, including me 😂

Push just make bunkers a worse problem than it already was with essentially one objective to care about. Pretty much the winning team almost always has a Spellbreaker from my experience.

I enjoy condi Specter on this map. Once I blow all my offensive cooldowns I can decide If I want to spam weapon skills on enemies or shield someone who needs help. Very fun. Will try GS Mirage today - it also looks fun :)

Personal opinion, but as far as strats go, I think Roamer's generally contribute way more in Push when they focus on spotting and bursting down any enemy Supports, with the other team's cannons being their secondary priority.

I am successfully in a Vallun video, but it's only me getting gunned down in the back like a dog. I guess it still counts. As someone who doesn't mind support I really enjoy the mode (though my favorite spec isn't too useful in it), but the main appeal it's had to me is the briskness of it. Quick into the match, no map selection to drag on another half minute. The pregame timer is longer but I guess I can't help that. Quick in, quick to the team-fight, quick to respawn, quick to win/lose, and if it's not quick then it's actually a good game worth fighting. In WvW I'm perfectly fine being patient with my content, but for whatever reason I vastly prefer SPvP as a snappier mode. At the moment, in its early state, I would probably prefer this over conquest over duel seasons.

Thx for the video. In my opinion, i think gw2 pvp needs a game mode content structured where builds (and maybe gear) are pre-existing. So players have only to choose for the utilitary skills or weapons to go in fight. In conclusion, less choices on the draft to force balanced matchs.

The fact they have to add new buffs/debuffs etc just to make the mode kind of work - to me - is telling that there are other fundamental (balancing) issues plaguing PvP. And by introducing additional mechanics not present in Conquest they have already failed in their initial goal: making an introductory mode for Conquest. Anet is currently simply making something else entirely - which I don't think is bad, not everything has to lead up to Conquest and I wouldn't mind a new (better) mode just de-facto replacing Conquest in Ranked, but it's what Anet themselves have set out to do and it already doesn't work in the Alpha stage.

I think the main point is to time gate the league tickets and ascended shards of glory anyway. Not really sure why everyone has to play Ranked for it.

I think the biggest issue for sPVP is not the content its the updates. 1 value tweak update every 6 months is not going to cut it. Other competitive games are all updated on a weekly basis. This upcomming update and the Warrior Spear Nerf shows that cmc has completely lost the entire plot

Push is interesting. Fun. But need to play more to make my mind on good or whatnot. Teams with lots of grief abilities (stun, poison, blind, invulnerable, etc) or teams with support dominate hard in this mode to. To get 45:0 K:D a game seems like there’s balance issues and I hope this mode helps identify where effort should go for balancing (as it’s very heavy team fight based). But hard to base it solely on this mode. Need all modes. To understand this. So far. I’m finding it fun but the jury is yet to decide! Lol

I've been playing lots of push lately. Super addictive and fun, but Indeed I think just because its novel. I also enjoy conquest. Odd opinion but important nonetheless: I think they should do a big graphic rework on the Push map. Why is it sons of svanir themed and not beautiful lush Janthir Forest for example? I think making a fresh new visual identity for the Push map could make it much more exciting for new people and already existing pvp'ers to get hyped about the map. I hope they change it to something else.

You always that guys who shoot " Fight On PoinT", even as a squishy dps you'll die if stay on it. It's nice add this mode, but it's not for me

If you don't fix onboarding of new players then new modes / maps / whatever won't change a thing. PvP needs match replays and some tutorials / expanded training areas for newbies to learn quicker. Muting / Banning toxic people so that newbies aren't chased away after a single game. And maybe introducing some profession-based MMR / rank decay, because currently it is super painful to learn a new class, as you are at the same MMR on it as on your main. GW2 pvp is simply hostile to beginners, fix that first.

Toxicity is a result of a bad queue division. New players dont have a queue for their own, people argue that "unranked" is the place for newbbies. But there are many experienced player queueing in unranked for valid reasons like being able to play in a full party, testing new builds, or a simple casual game while watching tv. The disparity can be quite big and lead to newbbies being negated all match, or angry exps having to carry 4 players that go together to cap an empty base. On the other side ranked toxicity is usually due to the algorithm itself when there is low population for your tier you get matched with players whose ranka balance yours, which leads to a similar result. IMO there should be a "under level xx" queue for unranked. And there should be a hndfull of timeslots for rannked. Like the tourney timeslots, people would only be able to q ranked during those times, that way you increase player population and your chances to play with same rank people increase

wtb 1v1 mode, 2v2, 3v3, 5v5, all ranked anytime we want, plus any game type, conquest, tdm, push, cap the flag, king of the hill etc. Also wtb no duo ques in ranked, do that sht in unranked where it belongs. I also wtb an actual 10v10 GVG game mode that they call Guild Wars, this game needs a middle ground, and it should not require you to be in an actual guild, it should just be like how spvp works, que up in an unranked version where it's public and have a ranked version where you can do your entire 10 man guild. People complain wvw is just blobs and they complain spvp is too small, this would be the middle ground and the unranked version would make a stepping stone for competitive ranked gvg and community 15-20 gvg stuff in wvw.

I wish push was more like tower control on splatoon. I'd prefer a smaller thing to push where only one person is needed to push it. Honestly I didn't like push at all. I wish it was more developed. Where I think anet is lacking is the lack of new maps. For pvp and wvw. I think new good maps would make things new and interesting

We just get demotivated having to play casual getting bashed by pros and then having to fights ultra noobs feeling like we understand the game , then getting bashed by pros again, thats not fun... Especially since we want to play the new mode together but can't because of the queuesize :(

It’s a great game mode but last night I swear I got hit with two groups with cheaters. One group could not be knocked down and seemed to always have a reflect up. It was wild. A 3 min match and not a single knockdown landed and I was watching for stability and didn’t see any ever. My buddy couldn’t even run bow. It was off too cause they stayed stacked the whole time like they knew something was off. If we actually got one dead someone would peel out and grab while three people held off 5. The match after that, the damage seemed why too high. I mean 9k autos on spear guard with low might no quick. That was like 60 secs cause it will just one shot after one shot on my team so we forfeit. Not fun walking out and just dropping from two hits. I don’t PVP cause this happens so much more to my group in PVP than WvW. We know how to play our classes but PvP has always felt unfair and even cheated on more match ups than we get in WvW. That feel alone I think is what will keep this mode down if not fixed.

focus the dps first to prevent them from freely casting, then after the support has wasted their cooldowns and positioning to try to help, focus the support, either way never waste time chasing something when another thing is presenting itself to you

There is some truth but when I did pvp I liked conquest and hated 2s/3s just like I enjoyed BG in wow but found arenas so boring. Different strokes could bring in more people. More variety and good rewards could increase the overall pool of people.

From my Point of View Queuesize and the result of manipulating matches with it is the Problem. New Players are forced to play 50 Games of Unranked where a 5 Man of "pro" Players can easily stomp them, which leads to frustration as new Players donÄ't know what's going on and quit. Id prefer a split from Random Arenas with single queue and Team Arenas where people can team up to a full Group, like we had in gw1. Let the newbies and casual Players play in their own sandbox.

Push isn't for casuals imo. Gw2 suffers from too many skills too fast in PvP We can't even see the skills half the time Team fighting on a single node increases this even more, so it's for sure not for newbies

Maybe you and the others who think that should say something within the forums or use whatever outlet you have to tell Anet. I keep seeing people say that there's issues with it, and while Im sure there are as Ive not put time into the beta yet cuz of my schedule, but I have a feeling it's gonna be another one of those Gaming situations where people complain or dont like something when the devs ask for input, and because Gamers are generally pretty lazy they won't actually do the "input" part and instead just complain. Your points are totally valid btw, not trying to downplay that. Im just trying to say if this is how you feel and how it is pleaaase just say something. Take a very small break from gaming and talk about it, discuss it. They're being open about receiving feedback. Make use of that to make the game you and we all play better.

Thats a misconception. Pvp amulets give very little health and heal. Honestly is as Vallun says, if you cant kill them you need to re do your dps build
