I love 40k and I wont give you a wall of lore, but I want to give you the sad part of the lore just because 40k is dark. The beast of nurgle is nothing more then a puppy. They "fight" you because they think of it as playing, they see you shooting and screaming as another sign of being played with. When they kill everything and there bodies go limp, the beast will see this as a sign of hate, that you no longer want to play which leads them to crawl into a swamp of Nurgle and die from loneliness and anger. This death leads to the birth of a new deamon.
