No, Wardens are the original inhabitants of Caoiva. The devs have confirmed they are *not* the military of Nicnevin, which is to the north and an ally of Caoiva, or any other nations in the Nevish Alliance. Though the Caoivish government in exil is in Nicnevin (Whedon’s Row). Abandoned Ward, originally called Sun Haven, was the original Caoivish capital before it was taken in (I think) the Boreal Wars

Long story short, Veli was a monarchy and the people revolted, with Caoiva supporting the monarchy and Mesea (origin of the Colonials) supporting the people. Most of the Colonials fighting Caoiva today are Velians. We don’t know if any other peoples who inhabited the land

Bro, Half the map is a territory that didnt belong to either faction but who sided originally with Caoiva. The Colonials quite literally invade it during a civil war prompted by the bested interest of both factions. Which starts the entire Warden Colonial War which the Colonials won taking Veli. But Veli was neither Warden or Colonial to begin with. And I dont think its fair to say Veli's population is the same considering how bad we hear the original war was. Oof, as a vet it hurts me to see people instantly equate the factions to the axis and allies because they see the collies wearing green and something similar to a GI helmet. I play Warden and the number of times I've been called a Nazi for using our standard issue SMG (somewhat looks like an MP40) is unfortunately non-zero. Ok, I have to try to be respectful here but please stop with the comparison of wardens to the axis. These are both their own factions with their own lore and cultures. Yes their uniforms are slightly based on German ones but they resemble the French ww1 uniforms more. Both sides have been made to emulate as many cultures as possible to blur the idea that these are real world factions. Culturally the clolonials resemble classical Mediterranean cultures and wardens are more Celtic inspired. Colonials are also supposed to be the aggressors

To be a 🤓, culturally the wardens are Gaelic/Celtic and visually French with some German. They have Allies that resemble Finland culturally. The colonials are culturally Italian/Roman and visually an amalgamation of the Soviets, Americans, British, and Italians. I don’t think anyone resembling german people even exist in the games lore. It’s just Gauls and Roman’s fighting like it’s the 4th century again

For people who is planning to buy the game and start playing it, I recommend to play in the Charlie Shard/server because it is intended for beginners and seems like very chill server to play in. Able shard/server is where the sweaty tryhards are playing. The queue there is horrendous, but it is what considered by many "the war that counts". it is totaly different experience, which may improve or worsen your experience. But the main thing about Foxhole is to communicate, which is one of interesting main points of Foxhole.

This game has many facets that are not readily apreciable. I encourage people to check out the partisan community. Sophisticated partisans can do massive damage to the opponents morrale and production industry. From a pvt in a bush killing logi trucks towards squads patrolling the backline in LUV's theres alot to do.

It is proxy, and everybody, even the enemy can hear you. That gives for some fun encounters. A fellow clan mate of mine was on a gunboat and the enemy could not take over until he was out of it. It was a solid 5-10 mins of negotiations. This game can be wild from time to time

Hey hey HEY! the colonials are not the allies and the wardens are not Germany/Russia. The in game lore is explicitly separate from our worlds history, and both are equally morally compromised. It is very frowned upon to bring real world morality into the mix in here. I've legitimately seen people who the medics refused to heal, and the bombardiers deemed explicitly as necessary casualties due to new players making that comparison.
