That must be the first time I think I've ever heard of a games console being present in a nightclub. And to honest with my memories of the original PlayStation and how the public received it... @@halfbakedproductions7887 "That must be the first time I think I've ever heard of a games console being present in a nightclub." It was how Sony decided to market the PlayStation in Europe. It was genius. They realised that the kids who had been playing on the ZX Spectrum, C64 and Amstrad CPC were the teenagers who were playing on the MegaDrive, SNES and Amiga and were now young adults who were buying their own games and consoles. It's this marketing decision, along with Sony going on a shopping spree for companies that cut their teeth on the Amiga (Psygnosis being an example) that gave us the entire WipEout franchise! "The PlayStation was 'cool' and everyone was interested. True pop culture icon and a core feature of the 1990s." And it could have been marketed the same way the previous generation was, with just the SAPS adverts. Perhaps it would have been if not for the involvement of Sony Music.

What you called a polygon there is actually called a quad which is a square made up of two polygons. Polygons are triangles made up of three vertices. Quads are used mainly in 3D editors to make the 3d meshes less complicated and easier to work on. edit: Also I would advise for your breaks when gaming, play games that are similar to the product you are trying to achieve. This would be good for inspiration and ideas on how to develop your engine. Your last video and this one earned you my sub, I enjoy watching your learning process. Also don't stress yourself too much on things (unless you are working for someone and you have deadlines, sure, but you're doing this independently so...) Pro-tip: instead of calculating the square root of the distance to compare it to a value (since it's too expensive), you can just multiply the value you want to compare by itself (power of 2, much cheaper) and then compare them. The result is the same and a lot of CPU cycles are saved.

How sad to see. I have been there at the big store on one day in 2008. I was working together with Maybach back in the days and we made test drives with US spec cars. As we were located in New Jersey one of the trips led us to Newburgh. Me, being a big fan of the TV series back in these days HAD TO stop there, having a look around the location and buying some merch. Bought some Hoodies and stuff. Made a lot of photos of the bikes on display in the shop. One photo is still on Wikipedia today (Jet Bike). Has been a good time. Did like the whole staff very much. Some of them came walking out of the manufacturing part and had a look on our car, a 62S, which was a rather rare sight. Sad, that their business went down that way.

Whoever commented on the last video saying that you could have just used a VM (PS1 emulator) definitely hasn't had the chance to make program homebrew games. I had to make pong and tic tac toe for the GBA using C code and the older ARM baremetal gcc compiler for a class at my university and I remember wishing I had an actual GBA to play it on. It feels way more satisfying playing on the native hardware that your code was made to run on in the first place!

Awesome content, like you; I still have a PS1, the PSOne (small) upto PS4. Haven't bothered with a PS5 yet. Next challenge, I would say for natural progression is to code up a PS2 game ;). Your current game has all the hallmarks of an TPS (Third Person Shooter) game even at the basic core functionality. You could run with that. I remember there used to be some awesome 3rd Person style shooters back in the day such as Delta Force series on PS1. You could also go FPS which would just mean realistically making yourself become the box with the camera angle. It's nice to see as some people have commented below, a younger person taking an interest in such consoles, and I was even surprised you had the interest with the C64 also, which is the first console I started gaming on / programming with - Yes, basic was a pain in the ass. Seriously though dude, keep up your work and videos. You've got a solid brain and thought process there. Don't let the trolls get to you, do what is right for yourself, and never give in. Ultimately write what you want, and have fun doing it whilst learning the nuances of each and every bit of hardware. Greetz from UK.

@Nezuji2 жыл бұрын
I don't know a lot of detail about actually programming for the PS1, but after a little reading it looks like he's trying to jump to the start of BIOS (which lives at the MIPS CPU's default reset vector). That's definitely still overkill for restarting a game :) but I don't know why it wouldn't work. I agree that the emulator is probably detecting a halt state and forcing a proper reset, while the real hardware just stays halted.
@Autian2 жыл бұрын
@@Nezuji I guess there are some parts that can't be initialized twice, so the init routine might error out somewhere in that regard. And even if it would work, another side effect would probably be an accumulation of the execution stack, so if you restart the system often that way, it might stack overflow at some point :D
