This is fascinating. Creating original PS1 games seems a lot more complicated than it probably should be after nearly 30-years, but you're clearly talented and patient enough to overcome all the obstacles you have to overcome. I'm looking forward to part 2!
@leonardoasaro18322 жыл бұрын
Actually the more we go on, the harder working with older hardware gets, as they all use very outdated standards and technologies, making it more difficult to read and write software for those systems now. But that's the fun part of homebrew after all :)
@sarowie2 жыл бұрын
@@leonardoasaro1832 I think system like the NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, ... have gotten easier over the years, as there are high quality emulators and compilers that run on modern system. Things like PS1, Dreamcast etc. are in an awkward place, because the original tools leaked, are highly complex (hard to make a clean room implementation), not running on modern machines...
@leonardoasaro18322 жыл бұрын

I think the route you were taking with your two previous games, like dodging the squares and getting to a destination as goal, it would be cool to make like a horror/adventure game> Make those squares into creepy monsters or something? Would work really well and add creepiness with the ps1 aesthetic.

I think it would be cool if the game is something like a horror walking simulator something like backroom, I mean this could not be a original concept but I found more interesting old ultra nostalgic feeling and graphic, in other games with backrooms themed could be cool with filter and things but no the same i found this this old graphics thing could to really looking game, and other than that I think is pretty simple to do, just walk, run, take pictures(i found some people saying that I think would be cool) even you can add something like puzzle to pass the backroom level I really like this project and I think that you can go with diferent thematic we havent seen in ps1 before cause just make another plataforme game or other action game would be boring, a first person horror game in the ps1 it something I guess does not exist, so yeah heres my suggestion

you remind me of Stiropyro, another crazy kid with a lot of will and a very funny way to explore bizarre themes i was a huge fan of thr og playstation, maybe you should try a simple fps, seems like its the simple way to star since you wouldnt need to much of 3d rendering, just lots of good looking Sprites, maybe a fps based in the world of bloodborne/

If you want to create a character, be sure to make a covex shape for each part of the character model instead of creating a full mesh. Then, instead of calculating the drawing order of the hundreds of polygons, you'll just need to do back face culling on the convex shapes (not drawing the faces if you don't look at their back) and calculate the drawing order of the 12 or 15 bodyparts of your character.

This is insane using UE5 for gamedevelopement is one thing to do. But this is actual really hard work wich shall be told about for centuries. Seriusly my big respect as someone who is just beginning to learn java, and only could possibly solve his 3D coordinate system vektor etc. calculation math homeworks like this. I mean you've got to take small steps (just after the teeny tiny I mean). But dud this is like at least to levels above me. Again my big respect! So.... I would love to see a kind of adventure mixed with survival kind of game or more like survival with story elements where you have like blenderish UI in the game itself as second menu to build houses and carve holes in the ground and terraform mountain peaks in to plateaus to build on, whilst the first menu is an adventure dungen crawler combat kind of thing. Maybe with first person shooter elements (I mean guns, oh boy was this unnecessary I just could've wrote guns). I know this would be very ambitious but if you seperate the tasks regard yourself with breaks on a regular basis, and do the difficult things first as well as use a to-do-list and an alliance of Discord firends you could do it in theory. (Aaaand you could indeed infect your Windows XP with a really bad virus by running an .exe or .jar etc. file in this old-not- protected-like-at-all OS, called Windows eXPerience, programmed by some random linux loving psychpath, which has no hobbies except steelung and corrupting data and thereby ruining someones projects and therefor lifes. But maybe you could use friends from real life.
