As he told the story, this song was the last of a long recording session and he and the band had lots of alcohol and fried chicken so they were pretty drunk when they recorded it. He said that he didn’t remember ever recording the song. Among his performances would be coming out of coffin and performing with a smoking skull named “Henry”. But he was the progenitor of “Shock Rock” and 56 children.

This is quite a phenomenal rendition of this song. I agree that it is puzzling why Angelina would pick this song to cover but OMG she did such an incredible job and absolutely “Put a Spell” on me for life. I listen to AJ each and every day.

Okay for context I was born in 81. I think I was thirteen when my grandmother talked about this guy. I had no idea who the hell she was talking about. As I got older I found out that he was basically the flagship for Gothic Rock and industrial groups throughout the years.. anyway this was during the sixties and she said this was going to send us straight to hell. Car she was listening to Elvis at the time. Anyway it's weird to see the song be covered by Marilyn Manson. From what I can tell he's apparently the father of goth rock.
