I think you did the decent thing starting with a lightly crash damaged bike. It could easily have been stripped for spares, so you have preserved one more machine in the world.

What an amazing set of GSXR750 videos you have produced Michael, your shear enthusiasm I can really relate too and share. I'm 74 now and have ridden sports bikes since 1966, two years ago I came to the conclusion after changing bikes regularly mostly 1000 street bikes more recently, with rider aids as is the norm nowadays, that something was missing and that I really missed my GSXR's. I managed to track down a low mileage L7 from a dealer in Hampshire in 2022 and haven't stop smiling since, just amazing rider machines that you sit into rather than a feeling of being perched on! Your info on your choice of tyres etc is so informative. Please keep the videos coming, keep smiling.

Loving this series, I've had dozens of bikes but never had a sports bike, unless a 2017 Ducati Supersport S counts. The main thing I've learned is how good they are out of the box. That's big news for someone who has 2 American bikes that need thousands spent on them, only to end up with an average motorcycle. Time to reflect on my life choices and get a GSX-R750 😆

Interesting to hear that raising the front end is what is being done today. On my 1996 GSX-R750T lowering the front end aka raising the fork tubes in the triple clamps plus raising the back end gave the best handling but you did need a good steering damper to keep those nasty oscillations aka head shake under control.

Thanks for taking us along during this series about the 750. Really enjoyed it and it showed what fun can be had without spending £20+ on the latest sports bikes. And that bike looks so good and modern. It doesn't look dated, actually looks amazing and better than the new bikes with the underslung bread boxes. Anyway, you really did put your money where your mouth is. So much of what you talked about came together in this series. Take care.

I am a happy owner of this model. I sometimes thought about changing it for a new 1000 but, for budget reasons, I gave up. I've had it for 10 years and I use it on the track and on the road. It's perfect! With the fact that they no longer produce it, it makes it even more difficult for me to think about parting with it. The fact of fitting the 180/60 rear is interesting. Next time I change the tyres, I'll think about it.

Hi. Another great instalment and description. Loved every minute of it and most specially seeing that bike get track time with you on board because that’s where they really come to life! This kind of stuff just makes me want to ride even more. If only work and family life didn’t get in the way so much. Enjoy and thanks.

Tire pressures on the Pirelli tires cold were similar but not what we'd run the late 90's on Dunlops. We'd run 30 on the front and 27 to 28 on the rear cold. The 25 psi cold on the rear for the Pirellis was eye opening. I've never tried Pirelli SuperCorsa tires. Maybe I''ll give it a go!

I have a K9 GSXR750 converted from road to now a race bike, by far the best upgrade I found for the brakes was the master cylinder. The stock NISSIN one felt quite wooden compared to the upgraded RCS19 unit, If I had of know the difference it made initially I probably would have done that first rather than the lines and pads upgrade.

I've been messing about with the ride height adjustment on my rsv4 factory. And I'd jacked up the rear by 5mm. I found 2 interesting things, while the turning was sharper and the bike more responsive to inputs : 1. I initially lost all my static sag. It took me a while to figure out why. But essentially, I had to back off the preload a fair bit to get my sag numbers back. 2. I also had poorer exit drive grip. Taking off 2mm of ride height brought it into the sweet spot for that bike, setup and state of the suspension. I've since rebuilt the suspension and resprung it for my weight. I'm going to pick up the bike in a few minutes. Very excited. Sitting in the workshop, bouncing the bike around, it already felt totally different.

Hello Neevesy, as a new rider who has been on the road for 2 years can you talk more about rider aids? there is a lot of opinions going around about getting a motorcycle with one. Even in this video you mention it breifly talking about how the GSXR is just the best form of biking without any crazy rider aids. I am 26 and ride a triumph sprint 955i rs, i love the motorcycle but cannot help think I may be missing out buying a more modern motorcycle. Revzilla did an episode where they pitted a GSXR1000 against a ducati and the ducati v4 though a superior bike on paper fell short. I would love to hear your thoughts on when someone should be leaning towards riders aids and when someone should not. Thanks! Big fan as always

It's a beautiful machine. I just left my settings the way they came. I don't know enough about it to adjust them; I would probably only make it worse. I usually ride two-lane higways and back roads. I've noticed the bike does tend to hobble around a bit on some bumpy corners, but that could just be the nature of the beast and the road being bumpy. I just decide not to push my luck on those corners. I'm old LOL.
