I use Amazon's version for my fire stick. The Alexa voice remote pro is backlit, has the custom 1 and 2 shortcuts, and the remote finding feature as well. The only thing I wish it has is being able to charge it

Got mine about a week ago. Love it. Bought it for the backlighting and lights up the minute you pick it up. Don’t use the headphone jack anyway. I use the Roku Remote App on my IPhone and that gives me great sound since I am hard of hearing and TV sound is terrible and don’t have sound bar. Could just use the IOS app, but not the same effect as actual remote. Maybe will reduce price for Black Friday. Very satisfied.

Thanks for the video Michael. What a neat remote. I was going to replace my aging Roku Express 4k+ with the Google streamer but seeing this remote is with the ultra I might just stick with Roku.

I bought one on sale at $27. Not that big of a deal but enough for me to buy something that isn't really needed by myself. Nice product and I am not unhappy that I spent the money. I like the idea of rechargeable.

I have the first gen. It came with the Roku 4K+. I like the rechargeable ability, but I do like the light-up keypad of the second-gen though.

No headphone jack is definitely a complete deal breaker for me. It's such an awesome quality of life feature to where I could watch something without disturbing the wife or kids was such a nice benefit I sincerely don't understand why they removed that as it's always been a highlighted feature by roku themselves

I totally understand, especially w/ little kids. Roku may feel it's not as necessary with Bluetooth and also the Roku mobile app as options.

Just wanted to give my two cents - I bought this remote directly from Roku on it's initial release in April. Within the last two weeks, the remote has failed to maintain a full charge and is draining quickly. It also stopped functioning properly paired with my Roku Ultra in which is shows the battery as 100% charged, however, once unplugging the remote from the charge cable, it drops to around 80% or so. I tried a different cable, unpaired and re-paired the remote and let it charge for a full 12 hours overnight with no luck. I reached out to Roku and am working on a warranty replacement which, honestly, I'm seeing the hassle isn't worth the $30 bucks this remote costs. Also, I agree with the commenter below - replacing the quick launch buttons with that rocket sub-menu thing completely negates the idea of a "quick launch". It takes the same amount of clicks to press the home button to wake the Roku then click on the first app (which is generally the one assigned to the quick launch). On the gen 1 - you could press the 1 or 2 button you assigned and it would wake the Roku and launch the app in one click.

before I watch the video I can tell you this much: that the first generation is the only way to go and even that one has issues. on the second generation they got rid of one shortcut button and then turned the remaining shortcut button into some hybrid home button pop-up mess.

The box you had for the 1st edition was a old box they haven't included the headphones with the remote for some time at least a year some the box for the first edition was also much smaller like the box in for the new 2nd edition

Got one when my original remote's down button decided to stop working. It's nice, but if I wasn't able to get it for $20, I would have been perfectly happy replacing it with a standard remote.

On another note - I'm debating on whether or not to "upgrade" to the Roku Ultra 2024 but I'm not really sure if it's worth it. I have my Ultra connected via ethernet so the addition of the 6ghz band really doesn't mean anything to me. If the ethernet on the 2024 supported 1gb than I would definitely upgrade but I believe it's still 100mb. Roku also says it's "faster", however, I've not experienced any lag issues on my older Ultra so I'm not sure I would notice a difference.

Another thing with a rechargeable battery that will be e-waste in a few years, when I can just change out a pair of AAA batteries maybe once a year, or stick them on a charger. Plus if I want the private listening I'll use the Android app. So yeah, no thanks!!

My thinking too. I've found built in rechargeable batteries don't last as long as the device does, especially a streaming device. With this one you need to charge by plugging in, likely won't be able to use very conveniently while doing so, unlike just swapping out batteries when it does die. Doesn't sound real practical. When my older version dies suddenly due to dead batteries, so much easier to just change batteries so I can use immediately.

It’s mind blowing that a company like ROKU won’t come out with a remote that has numbers on it like every remote has.
