Yes! 'Deal with it' is what I think now. Sober for almost 4-months after a decade of nearly daily drinking. My family members all have their reasons for drinking, and I want to tell them that it's weakness, selfishness, and there is no excuse. They almost laugh at my choice not to drink, as if it is a weakness. Nothing beats the benefits of not drinking, as you know.

Congrats on your 4 months, that's amazing! Glad to hear that you're on that path. In all seriousness, the drinking never solved my problems back in the day. It would just mask the issues instead when I needed to just deal with it!

I ve lost many sundays to hangovers, ect ect ect.... And currently I am on a portable scram breathalyzer and I keep thinking about when I get off the scram how Im going to start drinking again, its insane and I dont get why Im not petrified at the thaught of having one drink.

The 'high' of quitting the drink, being sober and healthy in mind and body, winning the battle of it having a grip on your life, infinitely outweighs the temporary buzz you get from throwing booze down your hatch all the time just to numb yourself for a short while. Never has just not doing something been so greatly beneficial. And to those who encourage you to drink or who somehow coerce or belittle you.. you are far stronger than them and they simply can't handle it. Try quitting. One day at a time.. before long, the benefits will make you forget the drink entirely and it will not be a part of your life any more. You will be happier, healthier, fitter, more energetic, have more time, have clarity, feel your real feelings, process your emotions better, drop excess weight easier and save money. It's possible.. so take the first step!

I have been struggling with staying sober for a while. I just got off a major binge last Saturday at 9pm from last Wed to then. I spent over 800 on only fans content, alcohol and junk food. I said some messed up sexually harrasing things to the women in my life who I've now lost from my life which I deserve. It's never been this bad for a long time. So it's day 4 now and I'm doing everything I can to stay away from my triggers and just listen to people who are sober around me and trying to do the aa thing plus therapy. I'm so ashamed of myself.

Shame is natural. You're human, so it's unavoidable to feel shame about SOMETHING in your life from some point in your life. You just don't have to let it rule you. There is always redemption. There is always the room to create a better version of yourself and live out life as that better version of yourself. It'll take time and dedication, but you can escape that cycle! I believe in you. Sending prayers, peace and positive vibes your way.

Being a 27 y/o female, I always thought no way I can’t be an alcoholic this is just how young ppl party, but once it became binging every weekend, needing alcohol before anything…predrinking before a pedicure, before the movies, before the mall 💀 feeling like I can’t talk to dudes unless I’m lit, feeling like girls wouldn’t like me unless I’m lit, liking my drunk personality more than my regular personality, said “today im sad” so I get drunk, I said nah it went to far, im definitely gaining weight, constantly sick and hungover, calling off work mondays because the weekend messed me up too much …it went too far I’m on my journey to being sober , im only 3 weeks in but going to multiple parties + new years refusing alcohol is something I never imagined for myself Working to quit all of 2023 -> onwards
@Just_Judah
@Just_Judah Жыл бұрын
I TOTALLY get that. I used to feel like being sober would affect how people liked me as well. I used it as a crutch and social lubricant but you don't gotta get lit just to talk to people and have a good time. I also know what it's like to pregrame before EVERYTHING. You know you're drinking too much when you're pregaming before normal everyday activities. Congrats on your sobriety journey! You got this! I believe in you!

I’m 43 and if I could go back and tell my 27 year old self to stop drinking you better believe I would. I moved from Ohio to Atlanta for a job and so I “went out” as much as possible in the hopes of making friends and meeting women. It didn’t work and it made me a worse person. I should mention, by 27 I was already a functional alcoholic. I went to a party school and by the time I was done I was drinking 3 beers per day, minimum.

10:53 Super important. Booze floods us with dopamine and makes it hard to deal with the reality of life: it’s not always a party. Not always rough either, just a-okay. Another important thing I’ve realized in sobriety is that good god my life was boring. All I did to have fun was drinking. It dawned on me that if I’d like to stick to this, I should find some actually enriching things to do. Joined a book club, started hitting the gym, and I’m planning to get a bass with the money I’m saving and learn how to play it. Thanks for sharing, man, it’s helpful to hear from folks who have gone down this road and found it was actually a pretty good decision.

Remind yourself to hate alcohol MORE than you crave and enjoy it. Redefine it in your mind, get disgusted of it. It's piss, it's bleach, it's nothing more than phuq up juice... I've watched a ton of these sober vids since quitting a month ago (they seem to help reaffirm the mission), and gotta say this one's got some real Yoda sh!t going on in it. Just a very direct and real, no BS assessment filled with nugget after nugget of wisdom. I was functioning like you, but I needed to test a theory that most of my problems in life stem from this constant attachment to drinking and the inability to stop, and turns out I was pretty much right. Literally everything's been better since stopping. I also read a book called "This Naked Mind" in the beginning, can't recommend it enough to peeps who wanna quit or need some help along the way. Really solid read that gets right to the heart of removing our desire to drink. Knowing what I know now, I don't think I ever wanna go back to drinking again and giving away my power to that poison. Anyways, thanks for the solid vid man and best of luck on your journey!

I went two years abstinent and dry. Most peaceful two years. Something happened and I went somewhere that brought back old trauma. Drank broke my abstinence, grandma died, and used drinking to cop with my heavy work days. Gained a ugly soul tie continued for 6 months. Until lost two jobs quitting but mainly cause I was over worked tired miserable and drinking my time off away. Now I'm on day 34 sober, reclaiming my abstinence. Cut off the soul tie, received a new way to income produce. & I'm finally back at peace. Drinking goes hand in hand with abstinence for me. Lord the past 6 months were horrific. But I'm trying not to beat myself over it. Just focus on becoming a better version of myself. Cause the drunk me is not it! I started using ashwghanda which is a vitamin and has helped me alot with my anxiety and other triggers. I take it faithfully everyday. It may only be 34 days. But I'm aiming for another YEAR minimum.

This is one of the better videos I've watched on this topic. Very well done. I've been a heavy drinker for about 20 years. Started with domestic light beer, then strong craft beer, and finally on to bourbon. It got to the point where I could drink an entire fifth in one sitting. My ex-wife cheated, divorced me, and took my 2 sons. I didn't know how to process how I felt, and discovered that if I drank enough it would shut down my brain function, and I could sleep. I'm giving sobriety a go. I don't like who I've become, and it's all because of alcohol. Thank you for the video, there's some solid advice and takeaways in it.

I was completely straight edge from July 2016 - September 2022 - not even a sip of beer then I had five months of drinking. Jan 13th this year I decided to go back to that way of life as its my default state and stick to it until death. I don't mind alcohol but the lack of control and hangover and what it does to your brain and memory just isn't appealing to me. I'd rather face this life sober. After a while it isn't even difficult you just don't know any different. Great video dude!

I've been binge drinking ever since I was 21 years old and I would use my shitty job at the time as an excuse to get hammered every night or chance that I can get. people noticed I was gaining weight pretty fast with my habits but I didnt listen, I knew that at the end of the day I would have my drinks and all would be right in the world. Been like that for 5 years till one day my body couldnt take the amount of alcohol I would normally would drink after a long work week. Apparently I had an anxiety attack to an alcohol withdraw which made me think I was having a heart attack, which I wasnt according to the doctors. Keep in mind this happen couple months ago weighing at 255 pounds doctors told me to stop with my binge drinking habit before I seriously damage something. So I guess I got lucky this time, after that experience it really opened my eyes and made me realized that Im not getting any younger and it was about time that I seriously start taking care of my self, just wished I would have started sooner but hey. I started exercising and dieting cutting off drinking and smoking cigarettes for good and I honestly dont miss smoking whatsoever drinking on the other hand is kind of tough but I try to keep my mind off it atleast till im back down to 175. Im now 240 pounds, and I dont care how long itll take me but I will lose all this weight caused by drinking.
@Just_Judah

I can definitely identify with a lot of that. I brought myself up to 215 pounds before I looked in the mirror and realized how things were going. I used to eat so much junk food when I was drunk and pass out afterward. After all the exercise, diet and abstaining from drinking I've gotten myself down to 183. My goal is 175-170 like you and I won't stop til I get there. I hope you get there gracefully! I've finally been taking my health and wellness seriously for a little over a year now and I'll never turn back. We AREN'T getting any younger but that doesn't mean we can't get BETTER as we age. Next month will be 0 alcohol for the last 4 years for me, and tbh I don't see myself "breaking the streak" anytime soon. When is there going to be an occasion where I'll drink? I know I don't want to go back to drinking regularly ever again. I don't see any point of drinking again, after quitting this long. I don't have a lot of money, and drinking is expensive, and will become more and more because of the health problems that will come to all of us, especially drinkers. If you think you need it to socialize, you don't. It's difficult now for me to be around someone who's drunk anymore.

I have tried to quit and relapsed a lot of times and what I have learned is that it’s more about educating yourself frequently rather than abstaining. See alcohol for what it is and you will go further. It has now been over 3 weeks and it’s not the most of done sober but I’m 100% certain it’s a done deal. However as you said life is deal there to deal with and just because I’m sober doesn’t mean everything will be perfect.

Last year I managed 44 days off alcohol, then went and did an open mic night where I sang and played guitar, and had two drinks. I then managed 34 days sober before starting trying to social drink as much as possible. In my case it involved having far too much and then vomiting up the toilet wall when I got back to the house. Then as my birthday arrived, I went into a liquor store and bought a bottle of Jack Daniels and a hip flask, and was topping the hip flask up in the middle of the street. Some guys from work drove past and I barely managed to conceal the alcohol. This was around 4pm in the afternoon. Shortly after this, I moved in with my Father, and this involved fairly heavy drinking for four months. One of the occasions involved drinking an entire bottle of Jack Daniels at 11:30am and passing out for the entire day; the whole day was a write-off until the next day where apart from being slightly red-eyed, I hate to admit, I felt totally fine. I then managed to be off the booze for 55 days whilst living with family in another town, which healed me and got my act together. When I finally got my own place again, I went out and had about 4 beers, that was it. I am currently on day 22 and do not know how I will socialize or meet ladies. It will make dating very difficult, but I am trying everything to avoid drinking; hitting the gym, playing guitar, treating myself to nice meals. Watch this space I suppose.

Thanks for sharing your journey man, appreciate it. Trust me, you don't need it for dating, it's just a social lubricant. You just gotta condition yourself to have a good time without it. What are you willing to give up to be sober? Something has to go to make room for a different behavior that satisfies you in a better way. You may find that you have to give up the only way you currently know how to make yourself feel better instantly. That can take time to figure out.....or maybe it's obvious and you've just been refusing to deal with it...because you had a easier and quicker "fix".

100% agree with this. You have to ask what are you willing to sacrifice now for a greater good in the future? How willing are you to actually fix your problems? Peace!
