I like the fact that you mentioned silver altered your life in your videos. I am a small time stacker but silver have most definitely changed my path in life. Daddy wasn't there and i lived in the projects in my early years. so after many episodes later with drugs alcohol yada yada yada i am finally making a real impact in my life with my finances. I Really love the aspects of silver and the silver community is Truly unique. This has been a dream since childhood and its starting to look real. Thanks for the vid backyardbullion!

BYB You are an inspiration to all of us who are creative and following our dreams... I also quit my day job in Finance to follow an Artistic dream and in the end have won over 50 International Awards for my own creative work... It is totally worthwhile doing what gives you joy... I love all your pieces and could even see those Pyramids with Swarovski Crystals set into the tops and even down the steps!.... Wishing you all the very best.... I watch and enjoy all your videos...

I work nights at a job I'm less than happy with. I have reasons for still being there, but I one day would like to make a push to do something I can be passionate about. I can relate a lot to your story. I work very hard at what I do, but every week I'm very bored. One day maybe I'll get there. Your videos are definitely a highlight to my work week, 5am this morning on my break I realized it was a "Ponderous Wednesday" and it made me light up knowing I'd have a video later to watch lol. Keep up what you do, you do it quite well friend. Thanks again.

Many of your statements here describe my “story” as well. Long story really short....I started my own business in renovations and construction. Now I get to do work that I enjoy. Cant see EVER going back to work at a basic employment position. I too struggled with leaving my previous career, but quickly realized that this “nomad” style of approach to work is actually very satisfying. I predominately stay within the construction field, but can move from one project to another, from commercial to residential, from high end kitchens and baths to exterior decks.....whatever and wherever I choose to go. Most importantly it is at my own schedule and pace and desire. This approach also allows me the opportunity to try other things out. Doesnt mean that I am looking to leave construction....rather I can add other productive avenues for both income and interests.

Great stuff BYB. I look forward to making my first purchase of your hand poured silver (it truly is beautiful) and supporting your work with more than just comments and likes. Making the transition to full time sounds tough, I knew a few artisans back in the day and it was quite a grind (they managed just fine though). That was before the internet really took hold, so they traveled around the country to arts and crafts exhibitions and still reserve a booth for the weekends at the local farmer's market to this day. Best wishes, Greg

Great Story. I found your channel from watching old clips of Gold Rush. I was fascinated by the spirit needed to leave everything you own to chase after Gold and other precious metals. I was in the process of setting up my pension fund when i found this channel and decided that silver was the way i wanted to proceed, im in the process of saving some money to join a group order in 3 months. A youtuber inspired you and you inspired me, among others, so great job.

Absolutely great watching and listening to your story. I once went into business myself and know exactly where you are coming from. One thing I would like to know is what are the energy costs involved with melting your silver into different forms? If this can be related to 1 oz or 10 oz units. Obviously the different molds have costs of their own, but to bring this into production mode, there must be a cut-off point where it is economical to sell and make a living out of it.
@BackyardBullion
@BackyardBullion 6 жыл бұрын
It is difficult to say exactly in the energy costs. The molds are expensive and the graphite crucibles are just as expensive and you burn through lots of them. The biggest cost is time. I like to make sure that the pieces I make are perfect - that might mean melting them down again and re-pouring them. So all in it takes a lot of time energy and effort! But it is worth it because I like being self employed and the flexibility that life brings. It is a lot of new challenges too!

Silver is amazing, I way prefer it than gold and so many uses it has. Antibacterial and was good back in the day for travelling when people used to carry a drum of milk they would drop a silver coin in to keep the milk fresh until they reached where they were going. A good investment as much as a good collectable and for the look of the silver and how shiny it is

Very nice and personal story! I could feel from your previous videos, that you are an educated person, and I believe that any business, even if it might seem simple from first look (like pouring silver, or buying/selling), need to be made with attitude and intelligence, then people feel it and want to deal with such partner. P.S. And for everyone I think it's always good to hear what a person is behind KZbin channel.

why you do 3,76 oz 3,56 oz? why dont you make 3oz or 4oz...i just checked your shop your prices are extremly high....
@BackyardBullion
@BackyardBullion 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment - I do odd weights because that is what the silver comes out to when they are poured. Sometimes they are exact, sometimes they are odd, so I stamp them with the weight they actually are. Prices are high because of a number of things 1) have you ever tried pouring silver? It costs time, expenses and a lot of dedication 2) Silver costs a lot more for us in the UK to source so that inflates the price. 3) The pieces I make are Assay tested, which costs additional money for each piece, this is the law here in the UK. 4) Prices are done to reflect the brand and I sell quite a lot of premium and high quality silver - people pay for quality. 5) if you order more than £40 or £100 (internationally) the price includes shipping. 6) I can offer discounts on large orders or if you wanted to pay via Banks Transfer - otherwise I have to pay PayPal fee's 7) After all of this I have to pay income tax and National Insurance contributions on profits - this is my business and lively hood. So, if I was to sell too cheap it just is not worth it as I would make minuscule profit margins for countless hours of work.

Needing rich parents to go to university is a shame. In germany like in other countrys its for free, you even get a credit for your costs (living costs,home erc) if your parents are not able to pay it You have to pay it back, when you earn m8n3.

The only people to make money in silver are those that sell it to stackers.

@MikeC-my4lf

@@BackyardBullion fair enough. If someone was stacking before 2011, then I am wrong on those. That being said, if those people did not sell between 2011 and 2014 then they are at a profit but nowhere near what it was between 2011 to 2014. It is likely those same people will hold if it spikes again. Either way, they've made no money on it...they haven't sold. If they bought after 2014 they are either even or at a loss. Coin shops and distributors sell for premiums of 10-30% and buy back very close to spot, spot or under. Thus...they make money on stackers while stackers lose. If silver shot up to $30 and someone wanted to sell you their eagles, you buying at $30? That wouldn't be smart as anyone in that position expects it to fall again and wont be caught holding bags. I love my LCS. very fair prices on 90%. Silver fell to 15 bucks and the 90% stayed the same price but buyback price was less. I dont blame them. They sold eagles for $20 when silver was at $16 and still sell them for $20 @ $15 but the buyback fell. The other shops I visit are the same. I like SDBULLION.COM, eagles for up to 99 qty were about $18.25 when silver was at $15.50, it's $14.95 now and the same qty is $18.13. They came down about 12 cents with silver down 55 cents.

Life is all about CHOICES and enjoy what you DO. Once you stop enjoy what you do or what you have it’s time to consider CHANGE. I enjoy my day time job and try to BALANCE life as much as possible. But take LeBron James this dude is worth over $400,000,000 he can start collecting KILOS of GOLD every month BUT he LOVES his job and gets paid well doing it. So again life is about CHOICES!!!
