You made the right decision. Any job that messes with your mental health is not worth it. Customer service jobs, esp call center, is not easy for immigrants with accents. I quit AT&T in a week in the US. Do an IT certification since you are already familiar with IT and get a remote job that does not require dealing with customers..

I'm currently into CS work, the first call I had today was a man cursing at me for a crime I didn't commit, I told him that I will appreciate it if he doesn't use that word and he said I'm threatening him that he's going to sue me 😂😂😂, after warning for 3x, I ended the call. I didn't allow it get to me,guess I'm developing thick skin to their attitude.

I did customer service for about 4 years. I was drained…especially when I switched to remote and the emotional/mental disturbances from some very angry, rude and racist customers. It is mentally and emotionally demanding because of these customers…they make that job difficult even for the most gentle customer rep. I quit myself

Hmmmm I’m just messed up mentally on this job but I can’t even dare to leave as much as I want to do because they are offering sponsorship and I have to stay on it for my family sake… I’m so drained, sad and frustrated I cry for every reason. I just hate it here honestly! I guess I have to suck it in and endure and be grateful like they say, no one is even concern about my mental health they are most concerned for the sponsorship not the person doing the job

Someone need to pay the prize for the family. I turned down offer of £33k/annum job for the sake of family, due to the work schedule and stick to a warehouse job that gave me the time with the family. It's just for a while, we all will be fine.

Honestly, i can relate. I did CS for just 2months and had to resign,my mental health is key abeg😂. And when people hear you resigned they'll be like haa,why did you resign a remote job...they cant relate and i am not ready to be shalayeing😂😂😂.. My brother there are better opportunities out there. Brother your decision is the best , I work as a support worker and I am the only black there these people gossip about me a lot smile with me to a point service user called me black and staffs laughed about it which I told my manager she didn’t do anything about it , now I have written my resignation letter that am resigning 20 of June at all I was making more money with agencies than permanent. Starting my construction work and I will relocate to Canada with my family to start my car business and real estate , Canada is expensive I don’t care because is not even my problem I do many things and I still make money in Nigeria

Plural sight, Udemy, Udacity, etc. Especially if you enjoy working remotely..... and since you already have a background in CS, that's a plus .. You can join online internships too ..they help a lot. You are right, not all customer care jobs are the same because I am enjoying mine. Maybe because it's a 'Customer Service Administrator' role. It entails logging customers requests (both via calls and emails) for the staff on site to carry out the task. And I have never for once been spoken to rudely. Plus it's hybrid work

I also worked as a customer service agent in Nigeria. I can tell u all customers are they same. So irate, when u are trying to assist they talk anyhow. Anytime am to resume my shift am not just happy. It got to a point I could not hold it I had to resign to get my sanity.
