Lesson 1: Slow Down. Move towards your goals at a suitable pace. Avoid burnout. Lesson 2: Focus on having routines and systems in place. Integrate goals in your routines and systems. Lesson 3: Take breaks when needed. Breaks are critical for feeling productive overall.

Thank you for this content! I have decided to take time off from tech as well, right in the middle of this CRAZY job market. I am burnt out and miserable and finally decided to take the step of leaving. Glad to see a fellow woman in tech taking time and then getting back into it.

"I am not scared because I don't want to be scared". I loved this so much! I just left my job and taking some time off - I know it's a scary time in the market right now but I felt like I really needed to take this break. Great recap on your lessons during your time off. I hope I can also learn these lessons and discover my own during my break :)

I remember coming across your channel when I was trying to get my first job in tech. As a fellow self-taught female software engineer, it was so reassuring to watch your journey. 4 years later and after dealing with my own share of burnout and uncertainty, I am now reaching the same conclusions. Bit sad I won't be able to test Offline on Android, but best of luck with the launch and I'll keep watching and waiting for more amazing content

Im also burnt out but not in tech. If i quit my job, my mental health will get even worse. Not sure what to do
@user-tx4we4hs8u7 ай бұрын
@@adammorra3813 I can't speak for everyone but personally what helped me was learning how to prioritise my wellbeing in small but meaningful ways. Everyone always told me to get a new job, join a gym and make all these drastic changes, but the reality is if you don't have the energy to implement them, you won't be able to see any progress at all. I started seeing a therapist and worked through the ACT book The Happiness Trap by Dr Harris. I became more active in tech communities and invested in building relationships with colleagues. Work issues became so much easier when I had all these people standing up for me to my managers and having my back. Then once I had these support systems in place and was feeling a lot less depressed, I was finally ready to start taking care of my fitness and career goals, looking for new jobs etc. I know this might all sound impossible because I was in that place too, but if you start small by focusing on your mental health and accepting your current situation isn't working for you, but you always have the power to change it, I promise things will eventually improve

Only caution here is that this young lady will no doubt be successful in whatever professional endeavor she takes up. In a sense, this sort of content is a tad bit dangerous for others. Other people should keep that in mind when thinking of taking a professional gap year.

How to allocate & a portion time to best achieve one's goals while ensuring we don't miss out on _enjoying_ our lives is a perennial problem each of us must work out. One prolific author, Arnold Bennett, published his personal realizations for organizing productive time while incorporating "down time" which actually increased his productivity. I found his short epistle, "How to Live on Twenty Four Hours" worth the read.
