Don't worry man I did the same a couple years back. Decided to put Spanish on the backbunner a little bit as I focused on my weight loss Journey. I have no regrets as I ended up losing 55 pounds in 6 months. Do your thing man and good luck on the journey. Also don't feel pressured to stick with a language because people are excited about it. I and probably most people here just enjoy your video style and finding things they relate with your ups and downs. It doesn't matter what language you learn or stop learning Imma stay foollowing your content. Also I would like to here about your weight loss journey as well.

Hey Lamont, you're probably not gonna see this comment but I still wanna thank you for your informative and motivational way of sharing your language learning method with us. This month I started my first internship in Italy (I'm from Germany and study at a university in Vienna, therefore, not a native speaker when it comes to Italian haha). Before the internship started I was really worried that my Italian wouldn't be good enough, but I understand everything they say (even if they talk very fast or use very specific/ technical terms) and I almost never have problems expressing myself! I got most of my knowledge about the input hypothesis through your videos and they never stop motivating me. I believed in the input hypothesis for quite some time now but seeing how much my Italian has improved in the past two years is really amazing. I am so happy that I can finally confidently say that my Italian-skills are almost at the same level as my English-skills. So thank you again and to all the others: this method really works, you just need to stick to it and put in the work. I think it’s a good thing to only do and prioritize one thing at a time. When you later are at the weight you wanna be at, you don’t have to focus much to maintain it and can prioritize Spanish again! That’s how my brain works at least

I really wish it worked like that. Maintaining a healthy weight (after being overweight) is one of the hardest things. It definitely requires attention and needs to be prioritized. I think I read about some studies suggesting that something like 90% of all people on a weight loss regime put the weight back on again within 3 years (most even sooner, ending up weighing even more than they had before dieting). I think it was said that overreating (for a sustained period), and gaining weight, somehow causes an irreversible imbalance in your body's chemistry. In short, you'll _always_ be fighting an uphill battle to maintain your 'new' weight. It's not _impossible_ for us former fatties to eat an appropriate amount of food, but it's much harder than someone who was never overweight in the first place. It absolutely sucks because you end up yo yoing, which could be even more detrimental to health than just being a little overweight. They key is not to have let yourself get overweight in the first place. Unfortunately, it's too late for some of us. ☹

I can be a test subject for this because when I was 20 I weighed about 64kg and ate whatever I wanted, 25 and it was still the same... (maybe 66kg), but by 29 I had ballooned to 82kg and I went on a kick and dropped to 67kg in 8 months. Since then I've slowly climbed back up to 85kg (over about 7 years). So technically I'm already yo-yoing except that it's taken about 6 or 7 years for the yo-yo to go back up. The goal is to get to 76kg and then get fast and strong, maintaining a similar weight but building more muscle and burning fat.

@@futurez12 I saw a scientist on Joe Rogan's podcast years ago who was explaining it's something to do with the fat cells your body creates when you're getting big and jolly. I forget the particulars but it's along the lines of what you've said, because I remember he was saying once they're created, your body is really stubborn in holding onto them, and there's a bit of a runaway effect where fat cells beget more fat cells, etc. Your body gets addicted to storing it, so to speak. I don't remember him saying it permanently changes your chemistry forever, thankfully, but that yes, you do end up having to work harder/longer to force it to give up those reserves and undo its preference for storage. I think that reinforces just how crucial exercise is, since you need to force the body to burn the stores it's refusing to let go of, something dieting alone won't do. And also, just in general for anyone who doesn't already know: don't forget that when you start building muscle it's gonna add to your 'weight' too, so don't get too hung up on what the scales say, per se. See your targer weight as more of a general goal, since you could technically 'fail' to hit the number you chose but in reality the bulk of your new weight comes from muscle, not fat. It should be obvious to you in the mirror by then that you're doing well anyway, ha, but in the past I've had to reassure a few friends who had done amazing work but then felt deflated once the scale said they were still 'x kilograms heavy' -- but most of that number was taken up by their thicker muscles, not the fat that was no longer there.

You know what’s weird… I too have been cutting down on my Spanish learning time and doing more healthy cooking and exercise. And what’s crazy is that with the healthy changes I feel more energetic and am doing more Spanish now after just a few weeks! I think my bad eating habits made me so gluggy and tired… now with heathy eating I feel great and have more energy to learn! So you never know… Best of luck mate! You got this!

I have been taking a break myself from Spanish but mostly out of procrastination, but I started working out and that has become my habit of focus. The plan is to now reintegrate Spanish doing Anki while going on long walks, listening to audiobooks on lessons at the gym, take part in an in-person spanish class. The gym and exercise is a good habit bundler but it should be mastered first.

I'm on day 17 out of 100 on my way to learning Spanish. I get up first thing I do Duolingo in the morning then I hit the bilingual word search Then I watch Spanish teachers on KZbin or I go over to lingo pie and watch a few shows I'm learning anywhere from 20 to 100 words everyday. I carry around a list from the words that I didn't know and I look at it two or three times a day at the end of the day I look at the flash cards againand then look at it again in the morning when I wake up. I do all this and I still make time to go run with my dogs or go for a walk. You can do it too man you don't have to make learning Spanish videos to learn or share what you've done you can be accomplished within yourself without having to share it you got this man.

I've watched your videos off-and-on for years now and I have to let you know: The delivery and conciseness of your videos has drastically improved. You used to rant for 20+ minutes with interspersed nuggets of wisdom. I used to find it hard to sit through the full video but would force myself because those nuggets really helped me. Now, your videos rarely go over 20 minutes and you nearly always state the structure of the video before diving into it. That makes the content much more digestible and easy to follow. Happy to hear you are prioritizing fitness and your health. Also I agree that you should make your life in general easier, including the choice of language you study while creating the new habit of fitness and healthier eating. One thing I'll suggest is, make sure you make the diet plan work for you. Best advice I ever heard was: increasingly incorporate healthier foods into your diet but don't aim to fully substitute out all of your daily meals with healthier alternatives. Obviously this doesn't apply to folks who have urgent health-related (the life-or-death kind of) diet needs. For folks like yourself and me, it's much more sustainable to gradually incorporate healthier foods without fully cutting out the yummy food that also happens to be unhealthy.

I've been following your videos for some time now (probably since about the time you shelved French), and I have always really enjoyed them. Even if I don't always agree 100% with you, I find you often say outloud what is going through my head but am afraid to say. Language learning is hard, and while it's a shame you have to put Spanish aside for a bit, I was very impressed with how far you got with it in such a short period of time. I'm learning Spanish as a necessity (I'm an American living in Spain) so I often have to sacrifice other goals I may have (language learning or otherwise) for the sake of surviving in a foreign country. Fear not, I will still be following your progress, regardless of the goal. Good luck

I just added working out to my daily tracker next to Spanish french and Hungarian....and ukulele... I never touch the ukulele...born fluent in Hungarian and Spanish is going good after 3 solid years... I get you totally

I've found ways to mix fitness and language learning. I listen to audiobooks in German and Spanish while exercising. I listen to ASMR in Arabic while doing yoga. I also listen to guided meditations in any language before sleep. I put most things on repeat so I can get those 50 repetitions like you did with the Spiderverse.

Good luck. Don't make the mistake of going to extremes. Any fitness level you achieve has to be maintained. Getting there is easy. Maintaining is the hardest part because you're at your ideal fitness level and health level, but you underestimate the toll it takes on you to maintain that ad infinitum. Overtraining can be problematic and interfere with language learning because excess fitness taxes your central nervous system past a certain point. You may be able to maintain a high level of fitness for months or even a couple of years, but eventually you'll hit your limit and it'll come with a array of negative mental/physical downsides, from depression, anxiety, to injury, etc. It can also cause brain fog and reduced concentration which isn't ideal when you're trying to use your brain for any intensive type of study, or even just plain immersion. I used to work out 5 days a week but I had to slowly whittle that down to 2 days to maintain a good fitness level while being able to pursue my language learning goals. Lifting heavy also taxes your CNS more, so opt for moderate reps and weight versus low rep, heavy weight. Don't fall into the trap I did and save yourself a lot of angst.

I weigh 187 poounds at 181cm (5ft11"). The kg a week thing is actually a balance of fast enough to be interesting to me and slow enough to be safe and within doctor's recommendations. If I wanted to do it at max speed I'm pretty sure I could hit 2kg a week but I'm deliberately avoiding a crash diet.

I've found it interesting that I followed this channel initially because of your Swedish learning which I also started 2 years ago. I maintained my interest because after my success with Swedish led me to revisit the 3 years of Spanish I learned in high school because I can actually use it at work. I will probably be right there with you in weight loss because I could also stand to lose approximately 9kg as well. In the past, my weight loss has started with discipline to change unhealthy eating habits, which is always more difficult at first, but the trick is, once you've established better eating habits you eventually reach a point where you don't want that soda or extra slice of pizza. That was something that led to significant weight loss over six months and frankly, I'd like to feel less dependent on soda again, so here I go too!

I have lost 22 pounds in the last 9 weeks. I had a health scare that forced me to get serious about my prediabetes condition. I did not count calories and my only mandatory exercise is a walk of 1.5 to 2 miles about 20 minutes after completing breakfast. I cut down on carbs; eliminated added sugars; and increased fiber and Omega 3. I only eat in an 8 hour window each day. I made some mistakes such as radically increasing fiber instead of doing it gradually and that led to bouts of constipation. Still it has been an interesting exercise that included a lot of research, planning, and more time on shopping, cooking and other food prep than I had been used to. Good luck!

Yeah I think they replay a lot of clips, I don't really know... But yeah I just figured that like rally driving, power lifting is a thing that Estonia has been good at and thus stayed good at, while for Australia it's swimming. Although I think the 2022 Strongest man champion is Australian (he's some kind of winner in something like that anyway).

Good luck on your journey! Also, I don't know if this only applies to people that have become more comfortable with running, but I find listening to my target language while running to be significantly more effective than normal listening. It feels like a cheat code to get into that reading flow state where you easily visualize the story in your head. Hope you may find this to be the case as well. Note, I do not find this to be the case with any other type of exercise.

Just remember fitness is as much a marathon as language learning. Don’t go too hard at first, let your body adapt slowly. I do think 2 lbs/week is a bit much, though. If you’re worried about not liking food, check out people like Greg Doucette who gives ideas how to make more calorie efficient versions of the food you like.

I feel like I've gone the same way! 2 years ago I went all in on Spanish, got a pretty good level in 8 months, then decided to start Russian. I managed to be better little by little, but I haven't had the energy or the passion I had while learning Spanish. I kept trying for 1 year. Then, I started lifting because I was starting to get fat for the very first time of my life, and this became a totally new passion for me. Since then, I've tried to dable with a few languages, like Greek and Dutch, but never made it very far. I wondered why, and I just realized that language learning was not a priority anymore. I'm way more focused on lifting, nutrition and I've recently picked up running, and I just love that lifestyle. I feel great. Changing focus in that kind of period is not just good, it's necessary and opens the door to so much more :) Best of luck in you're journey!

I think it's great that some people are into the "hybrid athlete" thing, rather than everyone just trying to be either a) bodybuilders or b) 2 hour marathon runners. I used to be pretty fast (distances over 5km), but now I'm into a bit of speed, a bit of muscle, and a lot of health.

I like that you said "getting a better physique". I lost like 50 kg (people told me I lost weight before I stepped on a scale so I don't know exactly but it's close to 50 measured) so I know for a fact that diet is most important in losing weight and this is what I did and then I did the "kill a whole bag of m&ms" thing but this was then my lunch or dinner. That way I could lose weight without exercise, eat shit every now and then and all is good. Until I got T2 diabetes. Which could probably have been avoided by not eating this insane blood glucose spiking meals and moving my lazy ass a bit more...

Hey Lamont. Love your videos. I grew up hearing French for 5 years (5-9 then studied it at school. Here in Canada they can't even produce bilinguals from immersion schools. Traditional language learning is a failure; it's a business. I can pronounce French well but I'm not fluent. I'm hoping I can go back and finish it off properly after I finish Spanish. I arrived at a point in Spanish where I could speak clearly but couldn't understand

hell yeah, I started doing bodybuilding again few months ago, working every muscle group until failure, followed by partials. 99% of gymgoers get out of the set when it starts to feel slighly unconfortable so it feels good to be in that 1% that go all the way. The results have impressed me despite my mediocre genetics. Last time I stalled and lost motivation due to frequent joint pain, then I discoveres joint training, started working my knees, wrist, elbows, lower back. That got me back into the game.

Jag fyller 82 år om någon vecka, väger 66 kg, 176 cm lång. Min vikt är samma som när jag var 20. För tjugo år sedan började jag med ketogen kost, som i Sverige presenteras som lchf, low carb, high fat! Detta är min rekommendation till dig! Ingen annan metod ger långsiktiga resultat med enkla medel! Lycka till!

I'm in the same camp! I integrated exercise at least twice a week now which cuts into my language learning time but i think it's a necessity to allow me to have another outlet as well. This makes complete sense.

It's funny that I'm in the same position, but opposite of you in the language department. I've started working out again, and Spanish is my strong language (high B1/low B2 after years of disuse), and I'm low A1 in Swedish. I've found I can listen to short Swedish podcasts (Lätt Svneska med Oskar) as I ride the bike since the only concentration I need there is keeping the pace up. Best of luck on your journey.

You're an incredible person. I really respect your philosophising, your integrity, your articulate speech and the quality content that you offer for free. I've learnt a ton from your videos. We have the opposite challenge. I have ADHD and I know what I could be doing and how much joy it would bring (the same kind of things you're doing) but it's so hard for me to build the momentum and make those changes, whereas I have a great physique and national/regional success in 3 different sports. My brain is flabby and my body is ripped, your brain has an 8 pack and your body is a bit flabby. I'm a Personal Trainer, if you want any guidance or a free workout plan, I'd be happy to help. If you'd prefer to take a deep dive on your own, or hire an expert in your local area, that's cool too.

@DFNS I lost 30 lbs on the Carnivore Diet and never felt very hungry. It was the most restrictive diet I tried and yet also the easiest. It’s hard to feel deprived when you eat steaks and bacon regularly. Since I was a child, I pretty much always wanted to eat. On Carnivore, it could be 2 or 3 pm before I’d think: “I guess I should eat something.”

I am sure you will do it!!! And being 9 kg lighter you will feel much better! I discovered that my brain works much better when I eat less. But it is difficult to stay on track; there are so many temptations, ice-cream and cake in my case. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've found similar to learning languages with fitness start small. So on day 1 of your new exercise routine don't run a 10km marathon and do 50 pushups. Do like a 15mins workout. I started doing daily planks about 3 months ago and now Im doing pushups and squats and dips. But for the first month I just did 1 plank every morning just to build the habit. Then I added more exercises as my fitness level improved.

OK, first things first: Bicycles are stupid and the people on them reflect that. Running burns more energy and is just superior in the same way as Beethoven is superior to Mozart. Soda, as you call it, is just sugar in a can... so OBVIOUSLY not drinking it will mean you lose weight. A tip from me to you: ditch the bike, and the lemon wedges, and keep ditching the soda... the outcome will be the same. Good luck. I lost a lot of weight in my 30s, almost entirely through changes in food habits. I am happy to have lost that weight, since I imagine I might be struggling for my life now if I hadn't, but if I could go back and do it again, I'd have put a greater emphasis on fitness. If you can, do both. If forced to choose, focus on food over fitness, but if you can, do both well. Best wishes.

This is an excellent plant. It’s crazy how having just a few extra things to do can make me not able to stick to healthy eating. Excercise is fine and I do that regardless but when I am stressed about something I always compensate with extra calories and justify it by being busy. Once you get in the rhythm of a healthier lifestyle you will smash Spanish even harder! Best of luck.

Great to hear your reasoning, though you don’t need to justify your decision. Putting your health first is a good decision. I think one thing people don’t realise is that after a short time, maybe a few weeks to a month, you stop craving so much unhealthy stuff. So, it becomes not that much of a burden to reduce the sugary stuff. Problem is, I’ve found, that the minute you go to a party or similar and someone offers you cake you find yourself wanting to please them even though you have little craving for it, then wham that one slice brings back all the cravings and you’re back on the vicious sweets cycle. The other issue is extreme tiredness, have a sleepless night and the next day you will find yourself craving sweets. Give into it then the sugar addiction is back. But, even despite that you will still feel like eating a lot of healthy things and actually craving them once you’re body adapts to more healthy food and exercise, such as fruit and vegetables. So, it’s really just the first couple of weeks that are tough. At least this has been my experience. One other thing I did, not sure if this is nutritionally sound but it helped me, was at the beginning I told myself I was giving up obvious sugary things (such as sweets, chocolates, deserts, but I didn’t bother to figure out and eliminate every product that might have some hidden sugar in it). But, I decided that I was allowed any kind of savoury junk food I liked. Obviously, this isn’t healthy long term, it was just so I could get a lot of the unhealthy sugars out of my system to start with. I actually found doing that meant that I started to crave less junk food in general anyway. I’m not a nutritionist so this might be bad advice, but, this helped me. I just wish people wouldn’t make such a big deal though if you refuse cake at a party, they interrogate you as to why you aren’t eating the birthday cake and say things like, oh you deserve a little treat sometimes,but, what they don’t realise is once I ate one sugary thing suddenly all the cravings were back, like an alcoholic may not be able to have one beer. Even if you say simply I don’t feel like cake today, people hassle the hell out of you, because it’s perceived as rude not to eat a slice of the birthday cake. I think some people want you to stay unhealthy like them.

My solution to "parties" (and similar events... in Aus it's BBQs haha), is to just say I'm outside my eating window (like in an intermittent fasting way), even though I'm not strictly doing intermittent fasting.

Good luck with your weight loss journey! One of the things that helped me eat healthier is finding recipes I like. They say Abs are made in the kitchen. The best way to slim down is lifting weights. Muscle burns more fat. Also don't focus so much on the number on the scale. I know several people that lost 2 sizes from lifting but their weight stayed the same. Progress pics are important because the scale is a liar. I totally agree with not wanting to listen to Spanish in the gym. I've heard a lot of youtubers say to listen to your target language while exercising. I like to listen to music I enjoy when working out. I want fitness to be fun not a chore.

Well losing it slowly is the way to go! I know that I can't do anything with long, slow progress, hence the fast goal. (And then there'll be a follow up goal of some sort to make sure it stays off.)

Funny this comes out, I've only just started taking care of my own health and wait and upping my exercise and for example today, I put down some language practice for my schedule...and I just spent time doing fitness boxing. I'll be able to fit in the time for language study still, as is my aim and it's doable, but I just need to get better at balancing my time. But I've been using one of those fitness/health tracker things and it was pushing me to hit a target today, so I wanted to hit it and that impacted time I'd be studying. So this aspect is pretty understandable. Admittedly, I rolled my eyes seeing the title but this is a fair reason. Fitness also helps cognitive performance, particularly if you mix it good rest & sleep. And I am grossly unfit. And I am going to Vietnam at the end of the year, so there pressure is on to be fit enough to do all the exploring I wanna do and for my language to be good enough. And I am aiming to lose weight too because I am way too overweight. And I think 2lbs a week is achievable, but of course requires consistency. I think I did what you're trying to achieve when I tried to lose weight years ago and this time it's more slow going, but it's an acceptable pace still.

Go to a build a bike shop at whatever town you were in build a bike and ride it everyday. Use the excuse that is not too far away and ride everywhere everyday you just have to leave earlier than you used to. You can get a high-end good quality bike at any town that has a University at a build a bike shop or you can just buy it straight across and save a ton of money . If you get a fork extender and a stem that pivots (adjustable stem) you can curve the bars backwards up higher so that you can sit back further on your seat and more upright when you ride and make it more comfortable on a road touring 21 speed bike. That's a fork extender for a bicycle and a stem that that adjusts. Best of luck

Buena suerte amigo! Like others have mentioned one thing that makes you stand out among the other language youtubers is the connection with fitting language learning in with your life. Also it's almost scary how similar our journeys are, I've been hardcore studying Spanish because I live in California which is basically Mexico. and between doing that AND life I've been gaining weight as well and have been trying to figure out a way to get in shape, and learn Spanish along with the rest of my life, full time Job and school ...etc. but have been struggling. I literally made the decision yesterday that I would take a break on Spanish and just try to improve my JPN which is already upper intermediate level because it's less work for me, and puts me in a better mood. I am with you in this Journey, -20 lbs in 90 days. Rather than kind of do 20 things at once, narrow down your goals and crush them.

Rooting for you, too! Funny thing, language skills can improve when you give what you crash-learned, a healthy break. When the knowledge emerges again, it has kind of been digested and sorted out by the nature of our amazing brains. A day or two one can feel a bit rusty in the gears, but then especially teachers and native speakers find that you have taken huge leaps in your skills, by doing nothing! 🙂Will be interesting if you report back on that! Could be fun to see how your Spanish improves. It’s been documented that having a break and coming can actually help improve a language. So who knows? And eat plenty of potatoes. Filling, nutritious, low calorie. Potatoes helped me lose 20lbs in 6 weeks. Followed the Starch Solution.

Creo que estamos en una situación muy similar, al menos tu con tu familia, trabajo y necesidades no puedes enfocarte en tus metas al cien porciento, lo mismo me pasa a mi con cuidar mi alimentación, estudiar idiomas como Japonés o Francés, dar clases y mantenerme al día con la universidad, te entiendo y te extrañaré en nuestras clases de Español jajaja, que estés bien, saludos :)

I had the same problem. I’ve found that not allowing myself to immerse while I eat (or consume any content really) and then getting a walking pad for the bedroom so I can watch German shows while active did wonders. But yeah I totally agree I wouldn’t be able to maintain two languages at once with my current lifestyle so I get it.

dude I literally quit spanish yesterday I'm Brazilian and could already understand and speak Spanish very well, the thing is that my vocabulary wasn't very big and I had a hard time writing Since I'm busy and with too many projects, I decided to "quit" Spanish: I'll keep consuming content in Spanish and talking with some Spanish speakers I've befriended, but won't make much effort to get better at the areas I'm not good at

2lb/wk is at the upper end of healthy weight loss that actually can stay off compared to a crash diet, so that's both fine and achievable. Good luck. Good exercise also helps mind in both an emotional sense and with regards to the hypothalamus so it's a win win win

Qué pena que "aparques" el español, pero te entiendo! I actually am also focussing more on health than languages this year, I try to eat healthier and I exercise a lot more (from only going for walks to exercising almost daily + keeping the walks). I haven't been as consistent as I would love to be, but still got better and have more energy than before (so it is not only about the looks, it also feels a lot better!). The thing is, most of us live a sedentary life and eat a diet that has almost nothing to do with what our species is supposed to eat. You don't have to go back much to see how radically diets have changed, the obesity epidemic shows that there is a horrible trend... The thing is, it's not entirely people's fault, as food is packed with addictive substances and most people are not educated about nutrition or get into bad habits as children. If you think about it, it's pretty crazy, my parents' generation had some "processed sweets" (they were not as processed as now) maybe once or twice a year. And now we are eating really bad food almost daily. Sadly, the cheapest food is often the most unhealthy one and some have no choice but consume food that is deprived from almost any nutrients... It is a really interesting topic, movement and nutrition affects our lives in ways people are not conscious of. Even if we often take care of them due to aesthetics, the impact beyond that is huge in terms of energy, preventing illnesses, etc.

Totally. I've often wondered what would happen if I tried to purchase my daily energy needs (like in calories) as cheaply as I could. I think I could probably do it for about $5 AU, which is about 1/40th of the minimum wage here. But if you tried the same thing in nutritious food it would probably cost $40.

I have been walking more lately since it's low impact and burns the most fat rather than carbs. Like an hour long walk can burn 100's of fat calories. Also, you can listen to audio books whilst walking.

I'm actually a pretty serious runner (or, I have spent a few years as one) and it's a lot more complicated than "walking burns more fat". It depends on a lot of things, including the temperature, the time of your nutrition, and the kind of nutrition, as well as your cardiovascular profile (e.g. at what heart rates which processes star and stop). Also, it doesn't actually burn "the most fat", it just can burn MORE fat as relative to the glycogen, but someone who is running rather than walking is burning about 2 to 3x the calories anyway, so even if the percentage of fat to glycogen that they're burning is lower, they're still burning more fat. I don't wanna put anyone off walking, but the whole "walking burns the most fat!" thing was basically a campaign to get more people out walking, which is great. Doesn't mean it's true.

@@daysandwords I used to run a lot too. I'm thinking to get back into it but want to avoid any possibility of knee damage since I am more fragile now due to age (60 and have to be more careful). I am actually a very keen cyclist but for weeks now my area has been extremely hot so I was walking instead of cycling. I live in Japan and studying Nihongo. All the best with your fat loss plan!

It's definitely a good priority to make. If you get sick, everything else is going to become very insignificant in comparison to that struggle. So, if you're seeing some risks, it's important to adress them as soon as possible. I assume you're maintaining (thus inevitably improving) your Swedish in some way. But I still think it can be a good thing to push the Swedish a little higher before going for Spanish, which you will now be doing the way it seems. I think most of us want to be damn good at our learned languages. So, why not solidify and boost that advanced Swedish level even more, especially since it's somewhat effortless?

I've tried it before it results in my not sleeping but always feeling tired. All effective weight loss diets are just a calorie deficit. Portion control = eating fewer calories than you need to maintain your weight, thus being in a deficit. Low carb = removing one of the macro nutrients and therefore being in a deficit. Intermittent fasting = reducing the amount of time you eat and therefore being in a deficit. In theory you could lose weight eating ONLY carbs, and some people actually have.

I’ve been a gym bro my whole life, as well as a language lover. Im also learning Spanish right now while attempting to lose weight. Though because of my history i realize a cut isn’t what I’m after anymore as the rebound is inevitable UNLESS you achieve it through enjoyable habits and dietary changes. It’s really easy to get shredded to be honest, its literally just math, but i assume your goal is actually to achieve a new set point, a new average weight, and this can only be done through adopting behaviors that you enjoy doing and will do forever. I think a cut is good in the beginning just to get some of the excessive weight off but you should quickly reframe your mindset to not focus on an end date. You’re going to want to find meals you want to eat every week, activities you want to do daily etc and you’re going to not want to fret over the numbers (calories, sets/reps etc). It sounds counter intuitive, and it’s hard to explain, but yea that’s my unsolicited advice. In any case good luck in your journey I’m excited to see how it goes!

Maybe you’ll find some interesting podcasts about running, fitness or health in Swedish you can listen to while running. I really liked the video. But didn’t notice any outstanding thing about the editing neither negatively nor positively. It was just very pleasant to watch. And I like your thoughts on the topic. Wish you the best for the challenge! Maybe you can include some kind of “punishment” for bad food choices? For example for every TimTam you eat you have to pay your son 10$? (But you actually seem like someone who sticks to strict rules, when you once decided on have these rules.)

Ha, the problem I have with those "punishment" rules is that like the preschool in Israel who found that more parents picked their kids up late when they charged for it than when it was free, I just see it as a price rather than an incentive not to do it. I'm just focused on the video I'll make at the end of this... that's my best incentive.

Eating a lemon wedge for breakfast will kill your appetite for to 2-4 hours By the time lunch gets here if you eat another lemon wedge you can skip that meal as well and save up for cooking a good dinner at night. You will drop weight quickly. Especially if you bike Walk or run a couple or three times a week.

the framing thing is a good point. i'm very into fitness. for me, eating nutritious foods and hitting PRs is fun. nothing is more fun to me than to lift 200 lbs for 9 reps in an exercise when last month i could only do it for 8 reps. when i manage that, my whole day is made. but others hate the idea and don't get the fun of that. like why should someone be excited about that? so it's all about the circumstances surrounding it.
