I worked road construction for years and had ran into a guy who owned a business and I went to work for him.. long story short he relapsed and quit doing it and I realized that it was a lot easier to start then I thought... so I went and started my own, with some basic power tools from the pawn shop and a pickup... now 6 years later I have 4 employs all the tools I could ever need. 2 dump trailers and a skid steer. Just gotta believe in yourself and bite the bullet and sacrifice somethings and you'll get it.

Yes, I painted the whole inside of my newly built house in 1991. I also did all the interior tiling in the bathrooms and laundry. Once I completed this, I had one overwhelming feeling........NEVER AGAIN!!!! Oh, nearly forgot, I removed all the window and door architraves in the house and stain matched the colors as the Meranti wood used was shades from deep red to white. As I said, Never Again! The flooring and any extras are always on top, sad but true. Welcome to building a house, dealing with tradesman doing your house is one of the most stressful experiences (aside from divorce maybe) that you go through.

Dude, I already liked your channel because I'm a car guy (repair shop/body shop owner for a long time). This video was soooo relatable. We work and push because we love our family and we want them happy and to build a life with them. The hard part is balancing everything. When I was married and had my family, I would have worked any amount for them and I did. Now, my daughter is grown and I'm divorced. It's much harder to find that same drive now. The catch is, if you don't strive and push, you still get stuck in a grind trying to provide for them. In the end, you just do the best you can and make as much time for them as you can.

Craig it looks fantastic! You are so motivated. Don't focus too much on the cost, focus on the value (they're very different). You will have countless good times with your children while they're young and you can't put a price on that. The one thing you can never buy is time. So from a value perspective, it's well worth it even if initially it was more money/work than you expected. When you're old the cost won't matter but the memories will. @JK-tu1xx2 жыл бұрын
Craig, I don't often say others do smart things but the struggle you're experiencing now is as close as it comes to ensuring a better life for your family. As a kid my parents bought a project house, for 8 long years it was a project. It had no dishwasher, one bathroom, no kitchen, no air conditioner, fuel oil heater, a griddle in the basement, and to top it off every single day I came home from school I was working on the house to try to make it something. By the end of it the house was sold with a still unfinished bathroom, a half-way finished kitchen, a re-carpeted sun-room, and an electric heater. It sold for $150,000 more than what we bought the place for and $100,000 more than what was put into it. That house robbed me of my childhood, I resent it every single day of my life. It's part of the reason why each time I see this idea of "building a family home" I shudder at the thought. If your kids are spoiled enough to not thank you for the work you're doing to provide for them feel free to show them this message, I missed out on half of my youth because of the work I put into that house. They may not understand it now but 10 years down the line they will thank you every step of the way.
