I think a funny thing they could do with Falinks is making it have a convergent evolution. It'd be some big catterpillar Pokémon called Fauxlinks that has the same colorations and patterns as a Falinks to ward of predators as a form of mimicry. You could also have them release some kind of pheromone or something like that to make the Falinks think that the Fauxlinks is their "brass" so all the Falinks go and protect it, leaving their actual "brass" very alone and confused. Queue the Falinks' confusion when their "brass" evolves into some kind of quiver dancing butterfly/moth menace.

I think a fire type carnivine is a better fit. In real life, venus flytraps are fire resistant and are reliant of forest fires. In fact their numbers are dwindling because of the U.S. controlling and prevent forest fires. Shuckle to me personally is a great mon that I loved using, I think in terms of a evolution I feel like it could go with either doubling down on the massive defense gimmick and just jump up to 250 Def and Sp.Def with 100 base HP, or it could start using its berry juices offensively and become some sort of berry-juice slinging monster.
