​@davidhardin2856 IMO no because they showed the weakness to the monster in the first movie which ruins almost all tension and makes the suspense feel forced in the sequel. They really used the hearing aid to defeat it but left the rest of them in the basement at the first house it doesn't really make any sense and makes almost any interaction with them theronafter forced or unnecessary.

I think a very large reason why the Angels are more threatening because they are never killed by a person. Only one alien dies and that’s because it killed itself. The very first reveal of the alien behind the taxi is absolutely terrifying.

⚠️spoilers for 1st movie ⚠️ I think everyone’s seen the first movie so idk why I felt the need to put that, but I’m surprised you didn’t address what I thought was the largest plot hole in the first movie. Don’t get me wrong, I love the first movie- it’s my second favorite in the series-but I don’t think there was any logical reason for the dad to sacrifice himself. It was a beautifully emotional scene that had a large and needed impact on Regan’s character, but Lee was way too smart to make the decisions he did. First of all, I recognize that he wanted to keep his kids safe from the death angels, but why was his instinct ever to fight them?? He had clearly done extensive research on them to the point that he should know the US army couldn’t even take them out! You joked about the whiteboard, but obviously one of his most valued findings was that they’re armored. Why would he swing an axe at such an indestructible creature? Not to mention that it clearly outranged him. Even after the slash he totally could have survived, but he decided that the only loud sound he could possibly make to distract the alien was the sound of his screaming voice. Could he not have chucked the axe into a barrel or something? It may have been an even more gripping and heartbreaking scene if he had tried to survive by distracting it with another sound, failed, and then intentionally sacrificed himself while the daughter was watching. Nevertheless I thought the movie was wonderfully executed and I understand that this scene was very important for the story. It’s still one of my favorite movies to this day. @@boiii13893 And I think the biggest problem with the series (apart from the filler and the cool concepts they changed for lame ones) is that they made Ellie insufferable, to the point were (unlike the game) her connection with Joel didn’t seem believable to me. I mean how can Joel stand that little shit. Causing me to never care for her character and to never buy the parallel with Sara (who is the sweetest person ever). Whereas in a quiet place 2, the wholesome bond between Emmett and Regan is way more believable, in a similar way to how the original game portrayed this “surrogate father” storyline.
