Former Arby's shift manager here, often times the chicken breasts and strips would come with abnormally thick sections, or would just be too large, and wouldn't properly cook within the 5 minute cook time. Generally, my store was in the practice of discarding these, but I can easily see somebody not giving a darn and serving it undercooked. TLDR: it is a mix of incompetence and a lack of QC on the corporate side

As an Arby’s employee, I think I know why the chicken was raw, either they set the wrong timer or the did not use the right fryer basket. For chicken patties, special baskets are used to keep them away from each other so the oil can truly surround each patty. If they’re thrown in a regular basket, the heat can’t surround them as well and you run the risk of undercooking it. Especially if there’s a bunch of them in the same basket.

Chicken should always be checked. 17 years in food service I always made sure to temp bone in chicken and any larger pieces. Tenders are easier to check as you can bend them and see inside if they are cooked. Target deli's had issues with chicken when they kept changing recipes and went from breaded in store fresh pressure fryer to prebreaded frozen in a standard fryer. With digital thermometers there's no reason for people not to check except for laziness.

Matt is just more likeable than I ever expected before I started watching these videos, and I just love how animated Charlie's face is when he tastes something that he doesn't enjoy. The sweet sauce comes with the jalapeno poppers. For the roast beef sandwiches, they have Arby's sauce and Horsey sauce, which are like barbecueish and horseradish. A plain sandwich is going to be bland, so it is hard to judge without adding some sauce.

I was a manager at Arby's for a few years, we actually used all real meats. fresh turkey and chicken sliced from a whole piece in house, fresh brisket and roast beef in house. only frozen thing is chicken patties and tenders, Mozz sticks, and fries. but even the frozen chicken patties aren't fully cooked in bag. they didn't cook the chicken for Charlie the whole 5 minutes before, that's why his chicken was raw.

When you are looking for a sandwich without a blathering of mayo, sauces and vegetables running out of it, the Biggest Arby's roast beef sandwich is awesome. You can add any sauce you want to it to make it better. I usually just put more pepper and salt on it and eat it like that. It always sits well in the stomach and gives me a lot of energy. Several times i have been tempted to get two. The French dip has to have the au jus with it. I wish Arby's used a genuine au jus, instead of a beef bouillon cube in hot water. I will definitely have to try that chicken, bacon and swiss sandwich. And as others here in the comments section have said. You have deprived yourself of the joy of the Arby's horsey sauce. A real kick to any sandwich needing it (perfect for that roast beef) and an awesome sauce.

As an Arbys lover, I'm incredibly disappointed they didn't give you any horsey sauce. It makes damn near everything on the menu better. Also, the beef and cheddar is just the superior version of the classic roast beef and how can you eat a french dip without au jus? Either way glad to see they've been redeemed somewhat in Charlies eyes.

Arby's has so many sauces that you literally won't find at any other fast food joint, and they're designed to compliment the beef sandwiches that are their claim to fame. Reviewing a roast beef without any Arby's or Horsey sauce is sort of selling it short. Also, French dip requires Au Jous to thrive. That said, glad you guys enjoyed it. People always clown on them like "who are the 5 people keeping Arby's in business" when honestly they just have good-ass food. Plus their menu cuts a pretty unique niche in the burger and tex-mex dominated fast food world.

The Arby's near me has the gyro (which I LOVE) and the wagyu burger which is pretty good. I even saw hushpuppy breaded fish sticks which sounds interesting. Last but not least I actually love the the roast beef but when I get home I have to semi dismantle it and use the Arby's sauce all throughout the meat. I think Arby's could rejuvenate the plain Arby's roast beef by doing "smothered" versions of the sandwich.

I'm just going to come out and say it... They needed the dip for the french dip and they needed Arby's sauce for the classic/with cheese. While i fully agree that the beef by itself is nothing to write home about, it is a platform for other flavors. Personally, I feel like the classic with cheese would benefit from the Taco Bell cheese sauce. I am also incredibly disappointed that many locations no longer offer the "Meat Mountain" hack. I would have loved to see their reaction to that beast. I've always felt that Arby's had something close to banger while never fully crossing the finish line. Good to see them split the rankings to minimize influence/bias.

Wish y'all did the sliders, they are probably one of my favorites. I've never had a problem with their chicken being raw, but it must have been someone messing up the timer or something. I've seen similar things at other restaurants and since they're chains they can vary location to location. Also that raspberry sauce thing is so good with the jalapeno poppers. Tbh not using sauces for most of their items just doesn't hit as good either, def gotta use them

I’m in the minority in that I’ve always liked Arby’s. It was one of my go-to spots when I was a kid. I can still remember the one my parents would take my sister and I to when we were little had a Lego table set up in the back! I would often get the chicken cordon bleu sandwich or the chicken peppered bacon sandwich. The classic roast beef was also great. And where else can you get apple turnovers at? I don’t live as close to an Arby’s now but it’s still one of my favorite fast food places.

Nope you're definitely not the only one, I would put Arby's in my top 5 for fast food. The Classic Beef n Cheddar Double is my go to! I honestly don't think I've had a bad experience at Arby's except maybe the couple times I ordered a Beef n Cheddar and got home and it was just the Classic Roast Beef with no cheddar 😢.

I used to get the plain roast beef sandwiches all the time. It was a cheap and filling meal that you could eat on the go, which made it a perfect lunch back when I worked construction. Regular burgers aren't as filling unless you get a big one, then they're messy and harder to eat on the go.

I worked at Arby's for 4 years and it's good to see them praising their chicken because I always thought it was underrated. I'd like to see them revisit this tier list with actual Arby's Horsey and Aujus for the French dip. The roast beef sandwiches are designed to be plain so it leaves room for the customer to customize their sandwich however they want. I also want to see Charlie try and eat a Meat Mountain. Also next time you're there ask for Spicy Three Pepper Sauce it's their best one it's not even spicy it's more like a tangy bbq Charlie might like it.
