(Controller player and Crimson main here) You’re right that Crimson on controller is waaaay better. S tier for me. Very forgiving, high damage output, and way more versatile than any other hand cannon. Sure, it doesn’t have the high burst damage like Igneous or Bottom Dollar, but it fills in all the weak spots in the mid and close range that 120’s and 140’s have. And it puts out so many rounds that you can almost always land chip damage to keep people from regen-ing. And it also puts out more damage than 120’s if you land all three headshots.

I honestly prefer 180's to the 120's, it can still 3 tap at good range, is more forgiving when you miss a shot, feels better to use. My posterity that I have been using more of recently for example has netted me many many kills, it has even beaten crimson in a duel.

I think he overlooked one other aspect of crimson that makes up for some of it's shortcomings and should take it out of the basement. The flinch it produces is mental. So damn hard to duel against if he hits you first.

If your trying to use crimson like other hand cannons and peaking, it’s a terrible gun. If you adopt its play style, fully taking advantage of the he flinch it’s an absolute monster. Trick is to be consistently moving, blink end strafe jump work amazing for this, combine with stompeez or foetracer and it just goes nuts.

I would definitely change some handcannons. Igneous is NOT the best 120. It isn't the best. It may be Legendary but the real best 120 goes to Sturm. Sturm is so good, that its unreal. I wouldn't put Malfeasance so low though, as it can kill supers.

I think Steady Hand (QD/Swash) and Palindrome (because some maps are good for 140s) make the S tier, and I think Posterity makes C tier because it’s a little better than the other 180s imo. HOWEVER the real reason I’m commenting is because this was a PHENOMENAL video. I love that you covered fringe or niche uses for some of these HCs, I like that you got footage for everything including the bad 180s, and I really like that you actually covered controller usage even when you don’t use one yourself. The state of yet another handcannon meta (albeit a 120 meta) goes to show just how undertuned every other weapon type is in comparison. With most maps being compact, these 120-140 handcannons have a comparable effective range to scout rifles, cause infinitely more flinch and generally have more applications in a variety of different scenarios and engagement distances. They have a lower time to kill than assault rifles and pulse rifles at medium range. Similarly, these high range shotguns like Felwinter's have completely shoved SMGs out of the meta at least on PC with the only exception being Monte Carlo by virtue of its use in melee builds. While I don't advocate nerfing them into the ground never to be seen again, their range need tuning down. Radical suggestion but perhaps they would be better suited not as a sniper-handcannon hybrid but as a shotgun-handcannon hybrid (as you'd expect from revolvers). Give them more damage (two tap precision kills at above 50 resilience) but reduce their range and aim assist, giving them the same effective distance as SMGs. SMGs would be more consistent and probably preferred on console, but the 120 handcannons rewarding superior aim. It'd certainly make CQC more interesting, open up the mid range meta and give higher range shotguns some competition.

Great Tier List. The only issue that I had an issue with was the Crimson rating: it’s more like a pile rifle that looks like a hand cannon, rather than a hand cannon that has the rate of a pulse. Thinking of it like that gave me an easier time dealing with it on M&KB but on controller I will admit definitely gave me a bias. The gun is hinsegle extremely good with controller and I’ve gone flawless with it, and ONLY with crimson.

What I really like about the igneous hammer is that it seems to have the same overall feel of stuff like the bad news/crimil's dagger. I shoot hand cannons almost entirely by feel and I spent enough time with the bad news/crimils that pretty much any hand cannon that doesn't have the same feel/recoil pattern, in PvP, they're just whiff machines. The IH feels like I can just flail the gun at someone and the bullets just kind of go to their home. Put on something like a bottom dollar on the other hand and it's just sadness and fail. Loved the breakdown you did here, good job as always! :)

Be interesting to see this after the almost certain range nerf to 120's and the changes to celerity on the Igneous Hammer. I also learned something today, I did not realise that 180's had Icarus grip built in. As someone that likes to play a little off-meta to avoid getting too comfortable with guns that invariably get nerfed I am pleased my Ancient Gospel sits nicely in the middle ground. Sunshot def deserves at least an a tier, I love sunshot as a mouse and keyboard player. The reason people don’t use it is bc everyone is used to the easy 120s and no one no what’s it’s like to work for your kills. I personally love wrecking people with sunshot and good people make it seem like it should be an a tier.

True Prophecy is also exceedingly frustrating when it refuses to register shots (used the damn thing for 6 months until i switched to my palindrome)

I have an outlaw/killclip Crimil's and its nasty. it's also got drop mag, but I'm not too sure if it stacks

Good rating all around but a bit bad on some Exotics Crimson gets an easy B due to it not really having any flinch, thus winning most 1v1s due to that and not having to be so precise with it while also making peak shooting easy Thorn is an easy A- at worst and an A+ at best, you forget that Thorn has a psychological factor on enemies when they get shot, making it easy to win 1s, and after getting the buff, Thorn is easily the best hand cannon, combine that with the top tier handling and is just so good Hawkmoon is an S for people who really know how to aim and play around the Shot and shines the best on slow ToO rounds, charging the shot and then getting a pick all of a sudden It's a C for bad aimers and an S for top tiers

Well, on Ace of Spades vs Hawkmoon debate... Hawkmoon synergizes with Lucky Pants in two ways - one, it gets accuracy buff that works in air, two, if you use any energy that can score headshots, you can add bullets back to mag and potentially get the spicy 1 tap more easily. Ace of Spades on the other hand, is literally the last HC you'd ever use with Lucky Pants because of memento mori. Seriously, Hawkmoon with it's catalyst perk increasing range and stability with each headshot, combined with prefect accuracy while unloading at max rpm... try it. Talking about Lucky Pants, honorable mention goes to Sunshot, to get the most out of that 150 rpm fire rate.

Ace of Spades is always a good choice if you want a workhorse hand canon, particularly in PVE. It'll never let you down and it wasn't too painful to get before Monuments to Lost Light vendor. A god roll True Prophecy is a good choice especially if you want to one shot head shot most red bars. What gun is this 30:55 Thanks

This was a great video! These HC’s were explained greatly! You explained the positives, negatives, perks and ETC. Absolutely happy we have some in common when it comes to the rating of hand cannons! Honestly my favourite hand gun ever is The Last Words since I prefer use my the arc subclass for the hunter class instead of the solar but sometimes it almost feels like I have the golden gun which is so fun
