I also understand the fact that in the United States there is a big problem with white people talking about black people. This is also difficult to make them understand, and I still don't understand how the culture got to that point. But anyway what happens with the people on Twitter. He literally has no bad intentions. And it is simply a comparison of 2 works which you like. What would be bad about that?

Honestly, I watched the series when I was younger. Being one of my favorites that I have seen on CN. At the same time Kendrick is my favorite artist. When I saw the video and it made me laugh a little, because of the strange comparison but after all it did have a similarity. In my head I was thinking about the reaction of the Kendrick fans and the SU haters. I can't believe that this is exactly what happened on the most toxic, immoral, hurtful, immature social network, and countless more negative words that I couldn't even finish describing all day. It's just funny, looking for something to get angry or offended about.

I had initially retweeted the post cause I thought the caption paired with the thumbnail was hilariously absurd. I didn't realize you were getting genuine hate comments over it-about the color of your skin, no less. Keep making content you're passionate about, that's what makes a good KZbinr, and don't sweat the vapid Twitter comments. They'll forget about you in a day but the people who enjoy your videos will stick around.

Wow, perceptive analysis. I understood Steven’s trauma was based on feeling like he needed to solve everyone’s problems, but did not connect it to this episode. This shows that the writer(s) have experienced trauma and can effectively write it. I always loved how Steven’s ptsd was depicted long after the dangers passed.

Don't care, still the corniest most white thing ever. Like don't put these two things together. Some things are not meant to be put in the same category. That video reminds me of that one meme that makes fun of video essayists, the one where someone makes a video titled something like "Depraved Minds: How SpongeBob grapples with sexual identity and the real life connections to pre colonial America" or some other nonsensical title like that. Like, u CANNOT blame other people for dunking on you like that right?? Realistically i wouldn't be AS mad if the video wasn't titled like that, and if you switch out steven universe to something more closely tied to Kendrick/black media. So like, a completely video.

Subbed because people getting mad at this made me excited that you caused so many strong reactions and sparked conversation. Edit: also, what can’t a white child and a black man have in common? (Aside from race obviously). Are we really going to try to say that race cancels out everything else that a person might struggle with? Ik Twitter is stupid but it still baffles me that people are this closed minded.

The video is good, people who gatekeep art are not very smart or interesting. A person doesnt have to be a certain race to appreciate and relate to art made by Kendrick Lamar, and there's nothing wrong with finding common themes and relating several pieces of art. Lots of people just dont have basic media analysis skills I guess

God forbid someone makes a video about two things they enjoy. This comment section shows the snobbish entitlement (and casual racism) the rap community has been clinging to for years. I'm waiting for you all to wake up and realize 1. Rap doesn't exist in a vacuum and can be compared to other things. 2. Racism against white people is the exact same as racism against black people. I'm willing to bet my right hand that all these people commenting that this is corny would not be doing that if this KZbinr was black. Goes to show how little impact Kendrick's work actually had on any of you. Get it through your head: racism is wrong. "This is the most white thing I've ever seen -" stop. Switch "white" out for "black" and see how the sentence sounds. Don't call it "bringing up race," you're downplaying what it is: RACISM. Stop hating on white people for doing things you'd be fine with a POC doing. I say this as a POC. And for God's sake realize that comparing a rap album to Steven Universe is not outrageous or ridiculous. I've seen way weirder comparisons that ended up sounding plausible. Learn to open up your mind and accept new views. Close-mindedness only leads to echo chambers and a halt on new ideas. Jordan, I'm sorry this video found the wrong audience. I think it was meant for down-to-earth media enjoyers but ended up reaching snobbish racist rap fans. What can you do, I guess. Yell at me all you like, I'm not responding to stuck up Twitter users.
