Just saw the movie. I had low expectations but it managed to still be extremely disappointing. Optimus was really unlikeable, the villains are completely generic, the Autobots and Maximals have no personality (except Mirage and Primal I liked them), the plot is basic af and the action was boring and not well choreographed. I hope it flops cause we deserve better than this. 4/10

It's interesting because many of the issues you have with the film actually come from Transformers lore. It's poorly done, because Paramount tends to ignore source material whenever possible, but Scourge, Unicron, etc., that's all Paramount attempting to take third tier side characters (Scourge), and characters with depth (Unicron), and making them one-note villains. For me, this was a super generic action movie, that takes far too many liberties with the source material in all the wrong ways, then tries to copy the MCU, but with bad humor and a lackluster Endgame-like final battle. Also, that ending thing, it's also been done before. Now they're just doing it in live-action.

this is EXACTLY why i disliked it. everything about this movie felt like a marvel movie. the end fight just felt like a worse endgame fight. i felt like apart from mirage, optimus, optimus primal and airrazor the other majority of the transformers got 0 development. as a fan of beastwars i was so ready to see the maximals’ personalities on the big screen ans we got none of that. the crossover tease at the end definitely was the last straw. every studio wants their own endgame and forget to make stories and movies that make sense and are fitting for their IP’s. it was an entertaining movie but as an actual fan it left me disappointed.

Everybody is being too positive about this one for some reason and I'm glad to see that at least somebody is pointing out the obvious flaws that I could notice even from the first trailer like the boring looking final battle and the lack of personality of the characters.

The difference between Transformers and the MCU for me is that Transformers are cool in the way people in costumes will never be. Also they are cars. I want them to do a Fast and Furious crossover so Dom can finally talk to his car.

I almost walked out of the theatre because I grew up with g1 and with all the hype they said g1 fans would love it I felt lied to. No one is the same character they were from g1 and the bots didn’t have the personalities we all grew to love with them. As well as lazy writing and story telling I couldn’t get into this movie especially with all the hype the production gave g1 fans. 2/10 wouldn’t recommend for die hard fans

This pretty much confirms my worst fears for this movie, that it would be completely MCU-ified. Say you what you want about the Micheal Bay movies (and there is certainly A LOT you can say, that applies to Bay himself as well) but at those movies had a distinct style. You knew a Transformers movie when you saw one. It does not seem like the case for this movie.

THANK YOU. I grew up with the Bay movies and genuinely love them, and I got so pissed watching this because it just felt like a generic ass marvel movie. I don't want to get a big "epic" battle in a flat gray wasteland where transformers fight against faceless enemies and nothing has any weight. Even the protagonist became fucking Iron Man at the end. And on the post credits scene you think they're gonna introduce sector 7 and then its the fucking gi joe and they're trying to set up a hasbro cinematic universe. Miss me with that shit, I didn't want to watch a bad marvel clone, I don't even like most marvel movies and haven't watched barely any in years, I wanted to get a Transformers movie. Is it that hard to get something today that doesn't feel like yet another rehash of what's popular?

It's expensive to make those movies. 40 year old babies were complaining they wanted less detailed robots and more cringy g1 stuff. Paramount figured they could reduce the cost while making people happy, and copying a proven formula (marvel) which is not that successful in post covid years. The problem with their plan was that 40 year old whiners are a loud minority, so after the first week, no one showed up to watch Rise of the Beast. Finally, young people dont know GI joe, they dont care about it at all, maybe they should have tried with Overwatch? Even then, OW is outdated as of now. The transformers franchise is beyond saving even if they bring back Bay.

The setpieces were thrilling and visually stunning, the SFX were revolutionary and still look better than most Hollywood blockbusters today, and the designs were cool and inventive, capturing the alien essence of the transformers. Some people, like you, didn't like them, and that's okay because that's the risk you take when you don't play it safe. I'd rather watch a polarizing movie than a mediocre one.

Movie was trash , starts off by obliterating the timeline with “1994” and then you have bumble bee taking about his experiences in the first movie , super corny lines , felt like the plot never went anywhere just kinda stayed in place and I couldn’t handle it the fight scenes weren’t even good I walked out lol just couldn’t connect w any character they were cringy and unlikeable , you got Optimus prime with the classic “we can’t trust humans” and then go ahead and trust the most incompetent humans on the face of the earth with their last hope at getting home … protagonist tries to destroy key , Optimus says no basically gets down on his knees just for him to end up breaking the key anyway omg it was just all over the place and getting absolutely nowhere at the same time

This was the worst of all the transformers movies and I thought Bumblebee was the best. Actors were wooden with no chemistry. The exposition of exposition was a bridge too far. I can live with using Unicron again. Killing off Bee again. A split mcguffin again. All too much. Not only did the movie try it's hardest to be a Marvel movie you could taste it, but it did every single story beat worse. None of the emotions were earned in the slightest, I cared nothing for any character. How dare they attempt to sully another beloved IP with this trash.
