The biggest issue with this film? It dropped Unicron too early. Unicron is a Thanos-level "ultimate" villain. This movie should have been three separate films: one featuring the Autobots vs. Decepticons (which could feature the Noah and Mirage friendship plot since it was genuinely fun), a second film featuring Maximals vs. Predacons (so the Maximals get enough time to shine as main characters rather than just being on the side) and then finally save Unicron and his heralds for the grand finale of a trilogy. This movie tried to fit in all three concepts at once and wasn't able to realize any of them to their full potential.

The problem with this movie is how it immediately escalated everything from Bumblebee I liked how Bumblebee dialed everything back a bit and started in a similar setting to the original G1 Transformers and gave little hints of lore n stuff. We were so used to seeing everything from the perspective of this little lost scout that when we got glimpses of something more, it felt SOOOOO much bigger, like us seeing the hologram message from Optimus and losing our minds or when the Decepticons saw the message of Optimus coming to Earth and they look and sound genuinely concerned and scared, or the battle on Cybertron as Bumblebee escapes. They then set up a perfect foundation to give us what we wanted and feed us the content we were exited for and to see how it all plays together. Then they show off alternate transformers, the end of the world, plot McMuffins, ancient transformer things on Earth, and Unicron the guy who's supposed to be the end all end game content for Transformers. They fucked up the pacing yet again It may not have been from Bay, but it sure as hell felt like it, which is why I had no intention to see it.

I'm mad we couldn't have a series of movies that followed different Autobots. I do in fact think Noah's character is at least 3 different main characters crammed into one. The way I see, we could've had a movie about Ironhide, actual Wheeljack and then Mirage. The movies would follow about ex-soldier, inventor and then a street racer respectively. The movies don't even need to be high stakes, just 'Bots working to survive and keep 'Cons from finding Earth and the gathering of Autobot resistance fighters.

Yet another movie my dad worked on. Lets just say this one was a mess. It was filmed in Montreal and in Peru. My dad worked in the Montreal part of the movie and was responsible for the transport logistics. So everything from trucks, van location, lodges for actors and staff and all that. btw the movie was filmed in the summer of 2021 even though in came out in 2023. So for that whole summer my dad would come back from work with the wildest stories of that day. for example, the initial police chase with the porsche in the beginning of the movie kinda went wild during filming seeing has they crashed 14 of them. its not rare to crash several cars during filming (fast and the furious probably hold that record). Another cool thing is usually when production wrap up, especially the big ones staff gets a gift. for transformer my dad got a blanket made of llama fur from Peru with a transformer logo in the bottom corner. Idk if this worth anything but has far as i can tell this is pretty original and it actually has a cool link with the filming of the movie (best gift he got for a movie was to keep the director chairs for the movie Arrival(2016)). Maybe its my clouded childhood nostalgia, but another thing that seems to be missing from RotB is that larger-than-life aspect the Transformers had in the previous films. In the Bay films, the Transformers looked big, felt big, and left devastation in their wake as they fought in cities among the human populace. Michael Bay really liked to show how huge these guys are. Even in RotF, they didn't fight in a big city, but they still felt big as they fought in a Forest from Sam's perspectives. The climax of RotB kinda reminds me of the desert fight in RotF, but kinda worse, fighting on this flat plane without much scale.

I felt the same way. I thought the camera during ROTB's climax moved unnaturally and unrestricted kinda like a MCU movie. In most of the Bay movies the camera felt grounded.

Yeah people criticise Bay's action style a lot but I think it made these movies way more awesome than they had any right to be, the visual effects were never what made these movies bad(until they got way shittier later) The CGI even the first movie still holds up amazingly well, all the little parts of the bots moving around and clicking in to place as they transform is incredible. Size is something the cartoons even never really got that right because they still ultimately had to turn in to cars and stuff that the human characters had to get in to, so the scale always seemed a little weird. Massive sentient robots SHOULD cause a lot of destruction, it was always weird to me how people say Michael Bay ruined that particular part.
@Jesse-xg8rk Жыл бұрын
They also fight on an alien megastructure setpiece against an army of things their size, which also makes them seem less impressive.
@tru3toxicgaming509 Жыл бұрын
I agree. It didn't feel as powerful with the visuals or designs. Yeah, they were more cohesive than the Bay designs, but they ended up like a good 3/4 the size of the bay versions for the most part, and they didn't feel nearly as powerful like you said. It felt like some big people fighting and not giant robots. It was fun, yeah. But I honestly prefer most, if not all the bay films to this for entertainment and maybe even story. Hasn't really improved much story wise. Just "oh, we need this thing but to also keep it from the other side, then a big action scene after" Except I like the way the Bay movies did the action much more

These films always remind me as to why Transformers Prime was _peak_ content; almost _every_ character was utilised well, _including the humans,_ was incredibly respectful of the IP, and had an _amazing_ cast of both characters and voice actors. One of the best parts of the programme was just how _often_ the Decepticons won, giving off the vibe that the Autobots really _were_ outnumbered. Then there was Megatron, who _frequently_ displayed not just his sheer strength, but also his intelligence. Compentant villains really are the best.

Yet another one: "Ms. Marvel" and her Pakistani family. Want one more? "Blue Beetle" and his Latino family. All these movies were seen, discussed, and supported by the "represented demographic". Even if a few of them didn't make billions, they made more than they would without their location and/casting decisions. As much as we 💩 on "woke casting" and what-not, human audiences like to see themselves represented *positively* on the big screen.

After Bumblebee came out, the studio talked a lot about the plans they had for the next installment, which was constantly changing. One of them was the Beast Wars film mentioned in the video, there was also an Optimus Prime solo movie that was cancelled by the main producer, who claimed that the character was boring like Obi Wan (his words, not mine), as well as a mainline Transformers movie that allegedly had it's script written at the same time as the Beast Wars one (some rumours back then even claimed that the title of this films was: "Transformers 1990"). Now, if you've seen Rise Of The Beasts, you might have noticed that elements from these three concepts are present in the film in one way or another. Make of that what you want.

I know he's younger here, but I always thought of the first Transformers movie was the best version of Optimus, he's hopeful and kind to species different from him but he also has an edge to him that does what's necessary because of his experience in the war of Cybertron. Plus, isn't the reason why he's chosen to be Prime is his kindness to everyone? But also, G.I. Joe? I do like and appreciate that many aspects of it are far more accurate to the source than the Michael Bay movies, though I am worried its failure will make Hollywood go back on that. I honestly also quite like the GI Joe teaser at the end and merging the two into a "cinematic universe", as it seems like a natural fit if they take their time and do it right (they won't) I also really liked it when everyone died and the Street Sharks burst onto the screen yelling "Jawsome!" I cried, I clapped in the theater, I whistled and screamed.

I actually preferred Noah over Sam. Sam's emotional hang ups honestly had very little relevance to the Transformers directly. But Noah's desire to look out for his brother is very comparable to Optimus's plight. But I think we could have had Air razor provide the exposition more than Elena(so more screentime for Air Razor). Also Rhinox and Cheetor(but definitely Rhinox) were done dirty in this movie. Edit: Thanks everyone for the likes! I seem the counter is going up and up. Currently at over 350 at this point. Edit #2: And we're over 450 likes! Thanks everyone Again all in all Noah is arguably a better written character than Sam at least for TF1 and potentially TF2. We probably can't get Noah or other characters like Noah for the next few movies but he's a good template. I still would like to see Noah having a cameo in the next movies at least if possible.

Could've just used Primal, Airazor, and Cheetor as the primary Maximals and that's it. Save Rhinox for another film if a sequel got made. Could've just used Prime, Arcee, and Mirage (with Bee at the start and climax of the flick once Mirage is out of the movie and in his suit mode) as the primary Autobots and that's it. Save Wheeljack for another film with a variation of his G1 design shown in Bumblebee. Could've just used Scourge (a name used for characters in both Generation One and Beast Wars), Nightbird (primarily a Generation One character), and Quickstrike (primarily a Beast Wars character) as the primary Terrorcons and that's it. A good combination of villainous characters from different versions of the franchise whom are visually distinct from one another that people wouldn't mind being Terrorcons as Unicron's enforcers in this incarnation.

@@DieHardAlien We have to be careful about how many characters we exclude from a movie since there's no guarantee there will actually be a next movie that continues the storyline. While I can agree "less characters can mean more" for a movie, if the movie does terribly, the next movie will probably just axe the current characters(the execs can assume the current characters weren't liked so no point in having them take up screentime in the next movie) and we won't see the characters "we saved for the sequel". Sometimes certain characters only really work well with other characters being there as they did in the original show. If Rhinox had some lines, it would have been great to have him talk to Cheetor. A damn shame.

Sam is there just to pretty much scream his lungs out
@Frenzyshark Жыл бұрын
@@shiftbloxx1076 Which boggles my mind why TF1 was praised so much when Sam/Shia... just kept screaming. I tolerated it in TF3 because genuine shit was going down and Sam was getting into the action himself. But TF1? It's so distracting.

I loved Beasties (Beast Wars’ Canadian name) and I wish they got more than an extended cameo in their own movie. Gary Chalke should have voiced Apelink in the opening scene, would have been a nice nod.

I was born in '88, so I grew up more on Beast Wars than Transformers. Thanks to my older cousins I knew about the original Transformers. I saw this on opening weekend with my younger cousin who only knew Michael Bay's movies, and we both agreed this should have been the first ever live-action Transformers movie to introduce the universe.

I think where they missed the mark was exactly as you put it. Transformers fans were expecting a beast wars movie and the actual beasts got treated like the dinobots from last knight.

this movie has a weird history behind the scenes and it really shows in the final product. but god damnit it's pretty damn decent. It has flaws, but honestly none of them are big enough to hold back the movie from being quite neat and competent. It's so nice that they managed to at least safely land this plane, even if the landing strip was a bit bumpy

You're very much right about it having a lot for fans. I loved the movie when I first watched it, but it was me, later, taking a step back that made me realized all the flaws, especially about how much they give the characters. I got so disappointed we didn't get any of the predacons, it was a good opportunity to have one or two predacons characters actually working with the maximals and having some hints about their rivalry.

The funniest part about the Transformers verse is how The Last Knight basically said that Unicron is inside Earth, and then Rise of the Beasts suddenly said that Unicron is somewhere else in the galaxy.
@CatholicDragoon Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I remember the Beast Wars show. It was deceptively intelligent, with a slow reveal mystery where the twist is that they pulled a reverse Samurai Jack and are battling it out on Earth during the time the original Transformers are dormant. Overall some pretty good writing made for a good if dated (visually speaking) show. I always understood it that the Maximals were an evolution from the Autobots and so their tech is just more advance.
