Friendly fyi, the title refers to the intermezzo in chess, not music. "An intermezzo, also known as a zwischenzug, is a chess tactic where a player makes an unexpected move in the middle of a series of forced moves. The move is designed to frustrate the opponent's defense and can change the outcome of the game."

I think the hypocricy of Peter telling Ivan his relationship to Margaret is not normal doesn't make it a bad book, it just points out that people sometimes are hypocritic assholes. I really loved the book and can't really relate to your review. But tastes differ:)

your point exactly is why I love about sharing book reviews- getting to see different people's pov on the same book. I don't think it's a bad book, like I mentioned, I just think it's too long for me and some of the characters (like Peter being a hypocrite who is actually just traumatized, abandoned and hasn't dealt with the pain of his losses) and conflicts could've been stronger :)

I'm happy I found you, this is my first book of hers and I thought I was being a little too hard with my personal opinion but now I see that this book it is really a mess. I just don't see the point of it, there's no story, just a bunch of the writer's thoughts that are constantly repeating over each one of the characters. Its like she wanted to write a philosophy book but then she remembered it was a romantic one so she added some very weird sex sceneries that show how disturbed are each one of the characters. I think she has a good future as a writer, but she needs to focus more on the whole story and not in EVERY single detail that adds absolutely nothing to the book. Thank you for your video.
