Your comment got me thinking, and I think this is my answer: An incel shares many traits with an abusive partner. The difference is that an incel’s attitude is often much more *visible*, because his anger is directed at women as a whole, whereas an abusive partner’s behavior is usually directed at particular targets (girlfriend, spouse, kids, etc.). That’s just my gut instinct as a layperson, so take it with a grain of salt.

Not Onision, not Greg, but the name of one of his protagonists. Ik it's already obvious that all of his books are self inserts, but the fact he made his name *James* is just... man.

Regarding the last chapter: It would have been a nice idea to have someone else finish his story in is case of death (like the ending of All Quiet On the Western Front, which hit me SO hard). But... if it is a journal, shouldn't the protagonist have also been incapable of writing the fight IN WHICH HE DIED himself as he ... well... died in the process?

Also, The Puppet and String bit that You attribute to Ultron is actually from Pinocchio. And even then, what Greg wrote was not actually all that similar. The idea of comparing us to Puppets on a String predates even Pinocchio and is a very old Metaphor. I can't begrudge him for using standard Cultural References.
