As someone who works in a bookstore, this is both the type of content I need to watch for purposes of doing my job, and also the kind that I enjoy.

Happy new year! You did publish this in 2024, but I waited until I finished “Funny Story” because I was still listening to it at the time. I also finished “The Women” right before it, which was still back in 2024. I was also let down by it. People on Goodreads have said that it should’ve been about multiple women and I agree. It would’ve been cool to hear multiple perspectives from other women from different backgrounds. Even with Barb; I would’ve appreciated it more if I heard about her experiences firsthand as a black woman. Since it was from Frankie’s perspective, it just came across as her saying that Barb is a black woman who dealt with racism.

I can't believe I let myself read an Emily Henry book after I heard people comparing her to Sally Rooney, whose books I despise. The two pairs of pants moment was funny though. Not sure if it was intentional or an editing mistake, but the idea that he's been wearing multiple layers this whole time was absolutely hilarious

romance books are so subjective that like i swear it depends on your mood bc i rated funny story a 3/5, thought it was boring, and just for the summer a 4/5 and i literally cried lolll. emily henry is still my queen tho.

I felt the EXACT same on “Just for the Summer” by Abby Jimenez!! I felt like I was crazy for not liking the overly simplistic writing style, surface level characters, and unbelievable romance between Justin and Emma but I feel SO seen 😭

Idk why but I did not like funny story! The ending was not it for me

I agree. But I also generally don't like contemporary romance as a whole. I need to stop letting goodreads trick me into reading books I don't typically enjoy
