i think the letter was a cover up and the manuscript was real. verity wrote the letter later when lowen was already at their house and she had found the manuscript. and the letter was just the next part of verity's manipulation.

I get that but why would she write and print the manuscripts to begin with? I don't understand? Did she not know/ or want Jeremy to read it? Like why??

honestly, I feel like Verity wrote the letter for Lowen. because if you look at the writing style, she is explaining to the reader what happened and why it happened. Why would she have to tell Jeremy what he did to her? why would she have to explain his reactions to him? It sounds like she (Verity) wanted Lowen to question her thoughts, and victimized herself (Verity). Usually, a narcissist feels that they are the main character, they will attempt to change your perception of reality at any chance they get. So in the eyes of Verity, she got the last laugh even through death because you as the reader will never know the truth.

@@emms187628 Exactly, but the crazier part is that Jeremy had something to do this verity’s accident and he knew about the manuscript before Lowen; which has me thinking that maybe he put on that show for Lowen and decided to get her to help him cover his tracks maybe? Or do you think that’s a reach lol 😂

Why im team manuscript: •How did chastin got a scar? •her writing in tge letter, almost seems like she knows lowen is gonna read it or someone else then Jeremy, because why would she write something that jeremy did already as of someone else is reading so the person reading feels guilty about her •it mentioned earlier that verity's office was soundproof, then how did verity hear jeremy when he read the manuscript? •crew was with verity and there was a knife on the floor, sge didnt explain that •she sounded kinda manipulative in her letter, sounded too good to make that manuscript up •colleen hoover said she thinks verity is evil

I will take team manuscript I think there are facts behind that cause 1. Why would she say Crew to hold his breath and how she got time to tell him if boat really tipped over suddenly . 2.She never explained the scar on Chastin's face. 3. The knife , like when Crew hurt himself with knife if Verity really cared for Crew why she had knife with her ? 4. In interview Colleen hoover is also said that she is team manuscript cause as stated Verity wrote letter after Lowen found manuscript and let's say Jeremy really knew about this and tried to kill her then when Lowen arrived or her own nurse who never knew about manuscript at first so why she didn't tell them or called her agent secretly to tell Jeremy the truth. 5.Verity in real wrote letter to gaslight Lowen and Jeremy. 6. If she was really practicing antoganist writing I think no one can write so heinous things about their children even the most perfect writer . All over these facts state that Verity is a villain who was in real obsessed with Jeremy.

That ending had me so messed up to!! I think I actually lean more towards believing the manuscript and just because I feel like a mother could NEVER get through writing what she wrote about her kids. I get the excuse she gave about it being a writing exercise but I just can’t believe it she was too convincing in the manuscript. And no no no no Jeremy didn’t just let Lowen read the manuscript he didn’t even know it was on paper he read it from the computer and he deleted it from there so when she showed it to him he was like “where’d you get that” buttttt it is weird that he acted like he didn’t read it. While reading this book I literally kept suspecting Jermey to be this terrifying supernatural demon. I went into this book and immediately went "its the guy, its always the guy". For the twist I was expecting it somehow to all be Jeremy's doing. Verity's accident, the death of the girls, I was sure it was him. The bite marks creeped me out, the way she wanted to be pregnant with his baby so soon, the language Lowen used in the beginning to describe him (besides her the thoughts of attraction to him), it just felt like she was somehow being brainwashed into something. As if following the footsteps of Verity. But im SO GLAD it didn't go in that direction and Jeremy ended up being a good guy. Even if I had suspected him of something, I'm glad he wasn't a bad guy. I was happy they ended up together. Can we talk about the book cover? when I realized what it meant my jaw hit the floor. I would've believed the letter if she had tried to ally with Lowen. Like tried to connect with her and tell her the 'truth'. I just feel that a truly innocent Verity, wouldn't have been so sketchy. Instead, she just stared, watched her from afar, and didn't try at all despite all of Lowen's efforts to get a reaction out of her. Like Lowen's presence was interrupting something. Like her coming to their home was an inconvenience to her plan. Her plan being to finally be with Jeremey, happily. Him being attentive to every little thing. The closest she could ever get to that was with her faked injuries. Acting like a person that was incapable of eating, sitting properly, or just functioning normally. When Lowen showed up, it upset her and changed things. I suspect she wrote the letter right after seeing them together that one night. She only made that letter because she realized she was losing Jeremy to Lowen. This was her way of getting the last word. Of hurting him like he hurt her. We can tell she planned to take Crew and just disappear. Thats not a move you make if you're innocent. Thats what you do when you're guilty and saw your husband move on to someone else. She knew Jeremey cared about Crew, so this letter and taking him was all planned out of Spite. After he got together with Lowen, It made her angry, so she wanted to hurt him like he hurt her. If the letter was really true, it would have been more focused on the right things. her word choice had a snarky, frustrated vibe. If she was really innocent, the letter would have been more apologetic, and sad (even if she had nothing to do with anything). She would have wanted to fix this RIDICULOUS misunderstanding. To get the 'truth' out there. The letter just felt like her trying to get the last word before taking his last child from him. To excuse the horrible manuscript and somehow turn it all on him. The manuscript also had too much detail to be fake. I just don't believe that level of darkness is something an innocent mother (with two daughters that died tragically) would be able to entertain in her mind, let alone describe in great detail. Even when losing her children, she was still able to keep the darkness going, like it was so easy, like it was natural. like it was true. Im just confused to why she printed a copy. If it was truly something she didn't want Jeremey, or Lowen, or ANYONE to see, she wouldn't have allowed two versions to exist...maybe even put a disclaimer in the beginning jeez... I loved this book, I still am not over it!!

So I'm team MANUSCRIPT because: ▪︎ If verity wrote the manuscript for exercising her antagonistic writing skills she'd have a note in the very first page of the manuscript that tells "this autobiography is from the point of a fictional character" or something like that.. ▪︎If the LETTER was true, there mustn't be any chance that chastin had that scar( coz, she mentioned in the manuscript that she fell from flight of stairs on purpose to destroy them when she was pregnant and the electric shock too) ▪︎If she was truely practicing to write in antagonistic way, she might have wrote the love between her and jeremy in the negative way but all she wrote was about only her children and their deaths in antagonistic way... ▪︎About the knife incident in verity's bedroom...she said in the LETTER that she's still living for protecting crew. If she truly cares for crew and regardless of acting ill ,she might have stopped him playing with knife before he was bleeding Review of the book : My final conclusion is that all the characters in this book are psychopaths... ▪︎Jeremy - He said that he appointed lowen on purpose to complete the rest of the series that were unable to complete by verity coz he loved her writing and he fell in love with lowen from the very beginning coz of her writing not even caring about her wife who he believes was brain dead. In the bonus chapter,He was reading another author's book like when he was with verity, he was reading lowen's book and now it's another.I completely suspect him as a serial killer (like he gets obsessed with authors and date with 'em and have sex with them and kill them..)and finally, he murdered one of verity's friend Patricia for suspecting him and lowen together with nova after verity's funeral..hoping that she'll spread news about him with lowen all the others... lowen - she was extremely obsessed with way verity described their sex life and fell in love with Jeremy in the manuscript...and in the middle of reading the manuscript ,she even got jealous of verity continuously describing her sex with jeremy and she started to believe that she loves him in reality too...and at the end she became even more psychic and competed herself with verity in all the way... Crew - He's just a freak from the very beginning and i think he inherited few traits from verity. I still don't get that...How can a child feel comfortable with a woman who murdered her own daughter in front of his eye??! and at last he proved that he was a psychopath by throwing her sister for just crying...

I thought Lowen went to write the next book, but she wrote the manuscript of So be it instead. She had seen Jeremy and concocted a story around Verity and her children. Verity is actually Lowen writing about fantasies of Jeremy and herself and she saw how loving he was to Crew and thought she can only manipulate Jeremy if he thinks Verity killed their children..and at last Lowen herself traps Jeremy by getting pregnant herself. But alas, the ending was something different. I honestly would have enjoyed it more if Lowen had killed her mother and has made up all this because her writing is similar to Verity's and that's a clue that it is what she 's been writing all along.

Her admission of the obvious foreshadowing of Chastin and Harper’s death in the manuscript makes me want to believe in her innocence. But faking her state for that long, letting Lowen discover her, and planning to take Crew, though she knew she’d become a fugitive, makes me believe she really was evil. Then again, her letter said he discovered it and attempted to kill her, but he acted as though he read it for the first time before finally ending her. I think the letter was fake, but there are many angles to consider 🤔

Yes. There’s a bit of romance. But it’s more of a thriller which I think you’ll love. I loved it and our choices in the books we read are similar. It’s a book that I think everyone is going to love.

I'm team manuscripts too.. but why would she write and print the manuscripts to begin with? I don't understand? Did she not know Jeremy would it, or did she actually want him to? and like what would the aftermath of that, since she was so calculative? Was she going to kill him and claim self-defence??

I think The letter she wrote was for Lowen to find. The letter read as rushed and patronizing almost sloppy. She follows each acknowledgment up with “how could you actually think I did that. you know better”. Like, actually no he doesn’t. I knew she fucked up the second she told Crews to hold his breath. Like, girl he’s gonna remember that. Her murdering Harper was ambitious and I knew she wouldn’t get away with it. It was way too convenient. Jeremy already confronted her about favoring Chastin over Harper. She wouldn’t have time to say hold your breath as the boat tipped if it all happened so fast. Verity knew it was over between Jeremy and her so she planted the note for Lowen to find. Lowen is empathetic so she wouldn’t tell him because she already pitied him. She wanted Lowen to find it because if Lowen “won” she would have to carry that guilt for the rest of her life. She knew it would eat at her.

I agree with what your saying about Jeremy using the manuscript for his own cause because when Louen gave it to him to read he acted so surprise and used that to kill his wife but in the letter it states that he already knew and tried to kill her before and that's how she ended up in a car accident but I deff agree with what you were saying. because why did you as if you had never read it before and probs used it to bate louen in . Edit just came across the part where you just said everything I wrote.

Colleen Hoover says Verity was evil and the last letter was bull.
@anahitaraizada4465

I think Verity was evil because like she was already a good author so how much practice does a "good author" need to be experienced to write a novel through the antagonist point of view fr u to write a whole autobiography, and even if you did write jst fr practice you should hide it somewhere safe so that nobody finds out and misunderstands.
