I Really Hope This is Fixable

Welcome back to another Lift Arc Build video! This week we're following up on the previous video of the stanchion project for a local pizza chain. Tay tries his best to coordinate with Wyatt to get the texture just right on the bases. Everything seems to be going fine and dandy until Tay makes a mistake right before crossing the finish line. Will they be able to remedy the issue in order to get these things to a happy client?

No he’s a perfectionist…his business and his reputation going out the door, it’s hard to show people a vision who can’t see it……that’s where the saying ( unfortunately ) if you want things done right you have to do it yourself….which is darn hard when it comes to employees…I deal with that all the time….some people don’t have an artistic vision

Tay, I did a similar project 30 years ago, for a Japanese restaurant. during that fabrication, I use a fine tip, acetylene oxygen torch, heated up a round circle proximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter and flattened it with a ball peen before it cooled off. And then used 1/4 inch shot and shot blast cabinet giving even more texture. Final product was beautiful and the client was extremely pleased. Just another way to skin the cat. Great work and keep up the amazing videos.

Great video! I love the content! One thing is when you put music over the fabulous montages you should lover the volume for the montages, so it's not so much loud from you guys talking. I like loud music but don't like to keep adjusting the volume. Your doing great keep up the great work

One day, could you do a video about how you bid jobs? I have a very small welding/CNC plasma side business out of my garage and I do pretty good pricing simple stuff like one off signs and whatnot, but where I struggle is bigger jobs that are going to take a lot of work. I never know how long it’s going to take and I always end up underbidding time.

Coming from a artist fabricator my self . My brain is trying to wrap around on “ why “ didn’t you just hammer forge the hammer distressed marks ?? If this customer is particular. Wouldn’t that makes sense to do it that way . The picture shows your “ exactly “ what needs to be done .

I love the smell of a propane in a forge burning in the morning. Smells like anti-victory! But what is that OTHER smell? :D I have to like a guy who shows us the whole process - warts and all. As for the merch. , make sure you have long-sleeved shirts. I like the idea of having some stock phrases too. Anti-victory does not need to be one of them.

My work Nick Name was "Mr Lazy" it wasn't because of my work ethic is because I wouldn't take one more thing loose off of vehicle than was absolutely necessary to complete the job. The boss called me that in front of a customer and she got offended. I told her it's a compliment. That's when the shop foreman said he's my most efficient mechanic. If I need it done quick I pick him.

I had to do the exact same thing last week for a client. I ended up using a work flap disc to get the ‘hammer pit’ then went over with non woven course, medium and fine flap discs to get the lines out. There was sooooo much trial and error and I hated every second of it for 4 days! It was by far the worst thing I’ve ever had to do in the workshop!

When you said hammer I had a flashback of a job that took 3 days of hammer/air tool that the customer rightly said looked like shit and had to be redone on thicker metal and better technique.

No project of this size would be complete without an Anti-Victory. Thanks for showing the entire process. One question: Wouldn't the grind marks in the divots show, detracting from the authentic distressed look? Couldn't tell from the video. Maybe a light peening in the divots of the completed bases with a fairly large ball?

I wonder if the "original" bases were formed using a die that had those shapes? I agree...they were most likely cast. I did a bar top distressing with some old chain. Not an option for that look. Thanks for the video. We had a crowbar at my last shop they called "the crowbar of knowledge" it had its own label and special hook. It did not work but was fun to wave at someone that had made an "anti victory".
