That line basically sums up my struggles with depression and years of getting high every day, feeling stuck in hopelessness and doing nothing with my life. I’m better now, been clean for a couple of years, and this song (and many others, one being DYWTYLM) reaffirms the lessons learned and cements the decision to change; move on from it and accept that I can’t return to the innocent glory of my youth. He writes such powerful poetry, it’s insane. Consider this my request for a reaction to DYWTYLM.

If you listen to 'Chokehold' by them, you'll notice the callback to that song nearing the end of this song, specifically from the 6 minute and 42 second mark. It's a joy to hear! Also you absolutely hit the nail on the head with the commentary in regards to the meaning of the song - "take me back to the beginning, when it was easy". Enjoying your Sleep Token reactions, they're incredible - give their older stuff a listen, you'll love it.
@almizzyracing80044 ай бұрын
I really enjoy your Sleep Token reactions. You take the time to dive into the lyrics and understand them which I greatly appreciate. So many reactors just bob their head to the instrumentals, which are good, but the lyrics is what puts Sleep Token on another level for me. If Ascensionism set the bar, where does this one fall in line for you? My recommendation for the next reaction is Aqua Regia or Granite. The apparition is another great one. Rain is up there. There's been bands that I've really liked, my favorite ones historically, who there's a few songs on each album I don't care for. They sound like fillers to me. With Sleep Token, there's no song like that to me. I don't get the sense of a filler from any of their songs. They bring it in every single song. Thanks for the Sleep Token reactions, I'm here for them. Go into this journey, this rabbit hole, that is Sleep Token. Us diehard fans are here for the ride.

Love that you have totally "got" the meaning of this song. With doing things to the detriment of yourself like with the moth to the flame concept, the water metaphor at the start. And I KNEW you would love it as it went into the rap section because of how purposeful and clever it is.

You have to listen to first album “ sundowning” all the way through from start to finish, then listen 2 second album , “ This place will become your tomb”, All the way through from start to finish, then, finish it off with take me back to Eden. It’s perfect poetry babe❤. Great reaction. Listen next to the “ Night does not belong to god” it’s the first track from the triogly. Dude, I subbed because of these sleep token reactions. My one piece of advice: the last song of this album is Euclid. It’s the last song in their trilogy of albums, and makes super powerful callbacks to songs from both this album, all the way back to the first song of the first album. For maximum impact, at the very minimum, listen to “the night does not belong to god” (the first song of their first album) before listening to Euclid. For best results, just take the whole journey in order lol. Happy listening, and much respect for the Deathnote poster, bro. :-)

Whenever I hear this song it makes me cry. When I was a kid, I was out with some friends and family at the local beach. We were all having fun wading around the water for what seemed like an eternity. After a while I got on the dock and jumped in like everyone else, but I had misjudged where I was. At the time I didn't know how to swim so I would stay around the shallow side, dunk my head in to cool down but come right back up. But I had jumped in to the deep end without realizing it at first. I had sunk to the bottom but as I was falling, everything just seemed to...fade. The sound of all the others playing faded away, and it got darker the deeper I went. I found myself at the bottom and I just sat there. I didn't fight it. It was so peaceful down there, I didn't want to leave. I spent what felt like another eternity down there just thinking about things. Sitting still. But I kept thinking about how hurt and upset my parents would be if I never came back up, so I crawled along the bottom and made it to the surface eventually. Hearing this song reminds me about that time. I guess the calm, peaceful darkness of the water is my Eden. I always go back to that moment if I'm ever stressed or upset. Just sitting there, still and without worry. This song really does "Take Me Back to Eden."

Something to note, earlier in the song, he says "I WILL travel beyond the path of reason." Then at the end, during the screaming, he says "I HAVE traveled far beyond the path of reason." He's screaming "That's it! The gloves are off! I'm done asking nicely, and now I'm p*ssed off! TAKE ME THE F BACK TO EDEN NOW!!!" This is the next the last song on the 3rd album of the trilogy. These 3 albums tell a compelling but tragic love story from beginning to end. Every song has lyrics really deep like this.
@noxx72204 ай бұрын
This is my favorite part. Because it’s fairly subtle. But I don’t see it as him being pissed off. The way I relate to and see it is that manic moment when you are finally broken. That you are forced to the edge and have gone past the point of reason. I think the feeling further expands on the feelings from The apparition. Specifically the feelings from the lyrics from the apparition “Just let me go or take me with you” But hey his art is subjective and that’s what makes this band great is it can invoke so many feelings and relate to so many people in different ways!
