You’ve gotta know where you want to set your stoploss before you even enter your trade and stick to it. Risk management is key 🔑

You have to change your relationship with money. It's rare that a successful trader will come from a poor background. They just have too much emotional attachment to money. Losing money is NOT what they've been conditioned for. Successful traders often come from backgrounds that don't see money as an inhibitor to things, or a form of anxiety. Since cutting losses is an ABSOLUTE MUST in trading, who do you think will win? The trader who can cut a loss and simply shrug it off, or the trader whose memories of money is a form of negativity and pain?

I often let my losses run because I'm usually trying to get in at a support and resistance level or supply and demand level and I keep thinking this is going to turn around any time now... annnnny time now... (130 pips later... OH, C'MON, YOU %$*&£/% £$%*&$%!!! 🤬 🤬 🤬)

You have to have a very clear plan how you're going to exit every trade. If you refuse to get stopped out eventually you'll blow up because all it will take is one trade to wipe out your account.

Market keeps telling me wrong: If I cut a big lose, the market reverses until my breakeven price afterwards. If I do not cut it, then it does not go back and liquidates my leveraged position. Using stop loses make the market makers job super simple. If I watch the screen for several hours NOTHING HAPPENS. If I go away for like 5-10 mins my trade turns to massive loser, that's incredible. Honestly, I don't know what will be the best solution for this.

Same things happens with me. I was continuously winning for the past 7 days and yesterday I hold a loosing trade which took away 80% of my captal ( even tho I knew that I was wrong I didn't cut it). The thing is ,as soon as we get into a trade we attack our emotions which makes us feel this way. Sticking to a perfect rules is the only way of mastering it.

This means change your broker, it's called taking the other side or called " conflict of interest" i.e your broker it's making money every time you take the loss and thus is eroding your account one stop loss at a time.

Honestly I still suck at this but this is my kryptonite so no way around learning it. Fact is I saw it reck me and I still suck at it which is bad. Really bad.

This behaviour also breeds a lot of bad habits too. Like being arrogant thinking you're right and others are wrong and also trying to make up for the drawdown in other trades. Psychologically I'd also suggest cutting early.

@mark a setup would appear and would not pull the trigger, and when it goes my way I would regret so much that I become negative the whole day, but I know this is a trading error, And have a plan that I don't trust 100%, but its very clear to me as what I need to do, execute your plan or stop trading till this is sorted.

Stoploss is the premier way for brokers and big banks to take your money. So unless you've got a strategy that's good enough so you don't need it, don't trade. I'm surprised that he doesn't say a word about backtesting, in that way you can very quickly see whether your strategy has potential. The only situation I'd use SL is a tight stop on very short TF, say M5. The trade should be over in an hour and the price has then little chance to take you out provided the entry rules are good enough.

The only reason why I refused was bc I never knew what I didn’t know so now I just take max 50% loss and figure out my fault later

I think it's important to identify via one's strategy at which price the strategy has failed and stick to it like glue. Clearly if you are being stopped out via volatility with an otherwise successful strategy a lower exposure with increased stop will benefit.....great vids .

I know I should cut losses but rather I let my losing trades run knowing that the price will turn over as a cause of an opposing fundamental sentiment just to understand the weight of the sentiment, I don't know If what I was doing was the right thing or not but I think based on what somewhat experience I gained I will try my best cut losing trades appropriately.

I think the key is knowing the market , hedge feature is good if your unsure , As a new trader , I think you have to take a dip in the water , To know how the market moves , best timeframes, times, and indicators etc , learn to let it go without emotion ,

With stop loses, the question is. Do you want to be sliced into thin slices, normal slices, big chunks or get swallowed in one whole piece? If you are not able to do a proper analysis of the market before entering your trades, above options are what you will always get. Cutting loses manually is often a much better alternative. But then again, you can’t sit and stare at your screen forever. Trading is tough!

Hey Mark. I'm a swing trader.. My trades typically take a week to play out. From which time frame should I pick my exit? I plot chart on higher time frame. 4hr is the lowest I go.

My buddy doesn't cut losing trades because he says they always come back. So he basically swing trades and will stay in a position for years if he has to. Terrible strategy, I don't know how he has such a large account
@niro565 жыл бұрын
He is right, but he has to have tremendous account headroom, not to mention grit for that, in case it's Futures.. try it on a small (overnight) position equity trade, on a stock you know is mostly ranging. Maybe that's why he has a big account ..
