@Catter I wouldn't even ever know this thing had an app if it wasn't because I saw this video, there are so much more advantages on using and SD card, even file read are better if you use and sd card, there is even a recommended format for the SD card, these printers were made to use with a SD card, apps are for very inexperienced users that just want to click print and have everything done, which is fine, but as I said, most of us know how to slice and tweak the slicers, that's just so unnecessary, that's like adding something stupid like a lamp, or an outside fan for the user on the p1p and call it "superior" just because it has something that's is not really needed and doesn't solve any problems.

All the gripes about the K1 pretty much seem to be resolved at this point. The Creality app can be replaced with any Klipper app as there is a way to open the machine up to run full Klipper rather than the messed about with version that ships with the printer. You can also run Prusa Slicer as there are profiles for the K1 available now. Also there are fixes for the extruder issues and cable chain problem available from Creality for those with early printers and printers shipping now appear to have the updates already there. The camera and LiDAR are also now shipping for the K1 and already installed in the K1 max. For me, although the P1P is a fine printer the enforced cloud integration and terrible privacy policy make it a none starter.

Yepp, no cooling fan, just the LED strip and the low spec 720p camera. Although that cooling fan can be purchased separately the main difference ist the enclosed print volume which makes the K1 more comparable to that BL X1. The X1 is also enclosed and also has a bigger touchscreen but costs twice as much as the K1. For an open printer (like the P1P) the more affordable ELEGOO Neptune 4 Pro (also with Klipper) for 300 bucks (€) is a far more suited comparison which shows the premium on the Bambu Lab printers.

They're definitely going to have to change that "iterative" release approach they've had for years now. I think they're capable of making good machines but their need to constantly have something releasing keeps them from actually polishing the machines before releasing. Hell, they *could* continue "iterating" the Ender series and reserve a "K" series for more spaced out releases of more developed machines, and most people probably wouldn't notice. Release an upgrade kit for the previous K series when the next one does come out like Prusa does, and shift production over. Honestly it'd also be nice if they finally simplified the Ender line-up. Keep only the V2 Neo, the S1 Pro, and maybe work on getting klipper for them. There is no reason to be selling any of the other models at this point, other than possibly getting rid of stock (but I doubt it); everyone expects ABL, 32-bit and TMCs (and an Ender 3 made now has two of those, so why not just get rid of it and keep the V2?). Also why is the Ender 6 still listed when it isn't even being sold anymore?

It seems that Creality is trying to do better with their upscale K1. It has a much more finished appearance and user experience, but Creality still can't quite help being Creality so they fumbled the extruder design and some details like the drag chain. They also tried to lock down Klipper in violation to the licensing agreement. So far, it looks like Creality got enough right with the K1 that the community shouldn't have too much trouble finishing the design if Creality does its usual deal and doesn't address the shortcomings after the start of production.

Bambu lab is just a better choice. Creality has been in the top sellers of printers due to offering some decent well priced entry level machines but also market saturation flooding it with dozens of side models so their brand is most of what you see when you search. This sadly leads to severe stagnation in their engineering department the fact Bambu lab had to make their printers just so creality could copy the blueprint is laughable when you look at the lead creality has on BL being in the market. I know no one asked for this rant but I honestly do think creality deserves no customers point blank.

people are printing enclosure frames (not the enclosure design in bambu site) and hinges for the P1P and they either source and cut the acrylic or polycarbonate clear siding themselves or they order pre cut sides from a cnc shop. Then you can buy the bambu X1C glass roof/lid or use acrylic or polycarbonate for that too. With the P1P developed as an open frame, bambu decided to omit the main circuit board cooling fan, which you would want add it enclosing it. You also want to add filtered exhaust especially if printing abs, which adds to the cost. And adding a cooling fan for the printed part for when using pla filament. It adds up though and would be better to get the X1C to begin with (or the k1😐 although it's not for me). Printing enclosure is a good solution for people who already had a p1p though.

Would love to hear an unbiased review. A lot of "For me" in there. Separating your opinion from the facts would be nice. Ultimately, you comparing a printer with an add-on to curb having to switch filaments is not a fair comparison..when, the add on is 300+ more than the printer you are comparing it to which is $100 LESS than the printer with that option. Newsflash, you are paying $100 more for an extra 56mm X/Y on the bed and the ability to spend MORE money to get a filament changer. This can be seen as a plus or a minus depending on your opinion, but not on the facts. It's a null fact. You pay more, you get more pretty simple, and *DING* not a "feature". At the bones level, the K1 is a better printer. By a lot? Nope. Both printers are great and have their own pluses. No need to Apple/Microsoft this just for clicks. Either one will suit you just fine.

Creality don't sell the camera so far but they get a k1 package which includes LiDar, hotend, camera and filaments. Good to have these as spare parts for almost free.

Seems fair at the time. Ive gotten a k1 max now and that addresses most of the issues outlined here. Its enclosure is better. It adds the a1 cxamera and the lidar. The lid area is changed and doesn't interfere, the filament change switch has been tweaked to be more robust. It doesn't look to me like the chain interacts with that now, likely as a result of the differently designed top. Mobile app Ive heard is still garbage, but I dont care about that. Can always just use the browser on my phone to watch the printer. But thats something I dont bother with pretty much ever, especially with how fast these things print. Foir multicolor, still no multicolor but I took advantage of the mosaic palette sale to get a palette pro 3, so for the cost of 1 AMS I get access to 8 colors and wont have to bother with the poop shute. In the Creality's favor you don't avtually have to use their cloud at all, or even their slicer/control software where you are limited to using the Bambu software. Both fine I guess but if you're looking for an alternative to the Bambus I would look at the K1 max instead of the base k1.

The fact I can root my K1 and run klipper/fluidd is pretty darn awesome though, I've setup a macro to handle a print queue with auto ejection, it just performs like a beast! I don't print objects larger than the 22x22 and it's all in single color, so to me the K1 wins every day of the week, especially at todays price point ($350) I do have a a1 mini as well, just because it was so cheap and I wanted to test it out and see if it could potentially replace my K1 as I expand my printfarm, but so far I'm loving my K1 way too much :D

Thank you for your feedback on the Creality K1. I particularly appreciate that you bought the 3D printers and aren't making advertorial content. It was good to hear what you didn't like about the K1. While I don't minimize those as issues for you, they were in almost every case non-issues for me. I won't install any app to use a 3D printer. I won't send any files to a cloud server. I print engineering prototypes, useful one-off designs to fix problems I encounter in everyday life, and products that I sell. I don't need multi-color printing nor do I want the reliability issues and complexity. I don't print Luke Skywalker models and Mandelorian helmets, not that there's anything wrong with that. I was a bit disappointed to hear of some K1 extruder reliability problems, the drive gear engagement lever being too loose or getting knocked loose by the cable chain, issues of low quality cable chain links separating, etc. These are all issues that Creality can fix, but historically they may not. Hopefully there will be simple fixes from the community. I'd like to buy a K1 Max in a few months with those issues resolved, and I'd greatly prefer a stripped K1 Max with no camera or lidar (I think the Creality version will be Bambu Me Too gimmicks that provide little benefit) for $250 less. I"d like the speed and performance of the K1, with the build volume for the K1 Max, without the expensive fluff features. I'd like to keep it simple. My Bambu Lab issues are the carbon fiber guide rod tubes that wear and aren't replaceable, their near insistence on sending my prints through their cloud server, and the proprietary design particularly from a new company.

You make some great points and it sounds like the K1 Max might be a great fit. I love that everyone has different priorities and ways they use their printers. Hopefully you find a great printer that works well for you. Happy printing, my friend!

The carbon rods are fine. There has been one instance of actual worn out rods and that was a guy that was greasing them which you aren't supposed to and which will cause excessive wear beyond normalcy including using ludicrous mode constantly. Every other "worn out" vid i have seen is when people took the hotend apart and noticed the wobble. Which doesn't apply since screwing the hotend together twist and tightens the bearings. Plenty of people with over 10.000 hours with 0 wear. Just need to maintain them. It IS user replaceable now since Bambu sells the X gantry assembly so if you end up wearing out the rods you can pop a new one in. Afaik the K1 also has glued in and press fit rods. Atleast some people made jigs to free the rods if you really want to. You don't need to use the cloud. You can perfectly send files through LAN through your network without it ever touching their cloud. It's literally a single button switch on the screen and most of the time Bambu studio picks that printer in LAN only up. Yeah the proprietary stuff sucks but eh third party hotends are already being made and eventually there will be stuff. A group is currently reverse engineering the board and Bambu made the promise to open up everything if the company goes under but that is ofcourse just a promise and i don't see a Bambu failure in a long time.

I believe they worked out the kinks which made me purchase one, I don't do cosplay or need to build life size helmets, just a hobbyist, needing enclosed printer, prints fast, and easy to set up, I don't care for multi filament, if I need to change color, I can paint the project. For the price it fits my budget for doing very little printing. I bought it because the reviews recently are much better than it was in July. Thanks for being honest, it the K1 craps out, I will definitely let them know.

I am in the same boat as a hobbyist. I have only had one time where I thought multicolor would be cool and convenient, and that was when I was printing board game pieces as a gift for my sister. Currently thinking of upgrading to a K1 from my Ender 3. Is the app still terrible and full of ads? Even if it is, I would probably control the printer mainly through the web interface anyway. Are there any other things a fellow hobbyist should know about it from your experience?
@rammone5241 Жыл бұрын
It was easy to set up, enclosed, and small, which suited me for what I was doing printing small projects. I had to get the better extruder and the new hot end, plus the nozzle kit for later knowing these ends will wear out and not give you good prints. Make sure to set the power on the side of the printer to 110 or 220, normally if you are in your room, 110 very important, also make sure your printer is on that circuit by itself because it draws a lot more printing than your TV or PC combined. Also take the tube out of the feed tray, it hinders the feed of the filament. If you are patient and like to tinker with small tools and like problem solving. I would wait until after Christmas I know the price will be $400 or less. I would never buy one ever again, I am old and never used a 3d printer before and just don't have the time but I managed to learn in one day.@@RyanBoggs

Big Tree Tech have recently released a Panda Touch device that upgrades the P1P / P1S display now. Very worth while. I know, slightly extra cost, but worth while and still preferable to me over the Creality offering. Had the K1 for a week, sent it back. Printing ailure rate is like 4 out of 10. It's not because of wrong settings, it's more like intermittent clogging or change in extrusion or flow or similar. One print comes out perfect, next one I had to cancel it half way. It could be just mine, but quality control isn't the best, just read reddit posts how many people have all kinds of issues, whether it's first layer or clogging or other issues. After a week and several days of trying to figure out what's going on, I gave up. 60% efficiency only is just not good enough for me, when my $99 Elegoo printer does a 10 out of 10, whatever filament I throw on it, (although very slowly). Oh yes, the app. I had it on my phone for a whole lot of 5 minutes and then deleted it. It's like downloading an adware or a virus.

We have an x1 carbon where I work. There are errors that always pop up during its calibration sequence. I don’t think the LiDAR is working. Prints have bad building at corners,like the linear advance is not working. I have had filament break off inside the AMS which caused the printer to unload your filament when you tried to print. This required disassembly of the AMS to remove the piece of filament. The “cool” build plate requires glue which is really annoying. You don’t mention the biggest annoyance of the AMS, your spools wont fit. This is incredibly frustrating. Also,these printers are build consumer level like and inkjet printer. I would like to see how long these last.
@The3DPrintingZone Жыл бұрын
Great points! I also think the LiDAR is largely useless but hopefully they'll do something with it in the software soon that really helps. I have had such a smooth experience with both the P1P and the X1 so I'm sorry to hear that you haven't. The cool plate? Agreed. I'm all about the PEI sheet, which is what the P1P comes with. I don't like having to deal with glue sticks. I also just had my first issue with the AMS where a piece got stuck. Took me about ten minutes to fix but I sure hope that doesn't happen often. I haven't actually had any spools that don't fit in the AMS other than those little 250g sample spools that come with certain printers. Actually - those might work too, not sure. I put the cardboard spools in there all the time and have no issues there either. As with all things, there are pros and cons. Longevity is a great question too - we'll see how long Bambu Lab printers hold up. Hopefully a while! Thanks for watching and for your insights here!

I have only had my K1 for few days. I haven't tried the online/app. From what you just said? Sounds awful. So far the speed and print quality has been amazing. I've seen brake cleaner dry faster, but this is way more entertaining than watching paint dry. Or my E3S1Pro and E2Pro slog their way through a job. Complaints? Yes, the reverse Bowden tube is bent to tight and the guide chain isn't great. Hasn't knocked my extruder lock open yet. The janky run-out sensor is ridiculously hard to feed filament through. The spool carrier? Seriously Creality??? A fixed plastic tube. The bearing model from the S1Pro is a direct fit. I tried it. And at the rate the K1 burns through filament, well lubed bearings may still run hot! I am interested in multi material/ color printing. Bambu has it. And? Most of the complaints I've seen and heard about the AMS is that it wastes huge amounts of filament, can't work with any variations in spool sizes or material, causes nozzle jams when switching material types and is a really cool concept that just doesn't quite work. I can't wait for current version of Cura with K1 profiles. Creality Print isn't to hard to use if your used to Cura, but it is lacking many features that I use often. Like being able to isolate and very infill on one model in a multi model print. As in zero infill for the tail of the HB1 E1000 RC Combat plane. But thanks for the review. I'll be keeping my K1 and adding a K1 Max when they become available.
