When I was a boy I also put tshirts on my head like it was long hair and I grew up to be a man. Kids do shit like this naturally, as both reporters acknowledge they did the same as kids. As adults it's important to acknowledge this with kids while affirming that they are born in the body that they are for a reason. You can be a tomboy, etc. and that's fine but soft adult parents that see their son with a towel on his head and immediately start allowing their child to transition are a problem.

I’m 26 and I still have gender dysphoria. I was in therapy for like 17 years from 2004 to 2021 or so. It never helped. I don’t think you quite understand how gender dysphoria works. Sure sometimes it’s a phase but sometimes it’s just dysphoria. Best to seek a professional for their opinion before just beating your child honestly.

No parent should beat their child, obviously, but a parent's first response shouldn't be to completely affirm that their kid is born in the wrong body. It would be beneficial for an individual to get help first at legal age to make that decision, and then proceed. Unfortunately it appears that the parents allowed the transition to happen well before 18 which is abusive in my opinion. So to be clear, I'm not denying that your dysphoria doesn't exist within your mind. I'm arguing that parents shouldn't be so quick to affirm that their child is the opposite gender and allow them to transition as a child. It IS happening despite some people wanting to claim this doesn't happen, and many medical and mental health professionals are forced to go along with this.

It's seriously difficult and expensive to get gender-affirming surgery, and almost no doctor would actually perform the surgery on a minor. It takes years of work with doctors and therapists before they'll even think about it, and first they put you on hormone blockers (the same kind men take for prostate cancer and baldness, just higher dosages) for a while. There's a myth that kids are out there getting their bits swapped, but that's not happening.
