I Removed Tons of Ads and Earnings Did WHAT?!

Is it possible that decreasing the number of ads on a website could actually increase the ad earnings? In this video I'm going to try!
We'll remove the most obnoxious ads from the site to make it much more user friendly. The goal is to encourage users to stay on the site longer and even click through to additional pages on the site. In the long run, I expect this to lead to more traffic and higher overall earnings.
Let's see how it does in the short-term!

Seriously, I leave a website at the beginning when there are so many ads. I don't visit a website for the ads, and most are super annoying. Also annoying are the video ads that you can't X out of. Those are another reason I click off a website. I go to a website to see the posts not the ads.

Extremely helpful, Ricky as always. I promised myself too not to display ads, I don't read anything on other websites that have crazy ads. The sidebar is okay, but a ton in the content is such a turn-off. Thank you

0:56 made me laugh harder than it probably should have. 😄 I honestly have no idea how people put up with the amount of ads so many websites are riddled with. I often find it so frustratingly distracting that I leave the site again right away. Having just started my own blog a couple of weeks ago, I'm far from monetizing anything at this point (still waiting for my first organic visitor), but I've already promised myself that I'll only ever use ads sparsely, if at all. I always wonder: How do people who don't use ad blockers manage to concentrate on the actual content they came for?

What can you say about what happened to time on site? Curious how well your internal linking strategy worked.

So far it hasn't actually changed much, which surprised me. Although honestly there was already pretty good internal linking in the top blog posts, so the improvements I made may not give it much of an uplift.

I did this test last year on KZbin . I actually removed all ads for 3 months.

High levels of EEAT and branding. They rank high despite poor user experience. As an independent blogger or small business owner most of us don’t have that luxury.

Hi My Friend Ricky...Do you think it's time to start talking about the new google blogging traffic era. Though it's left 3 to 4 months for things to settle down completely but i think we can start suggesting how and what successful blogging will be like in this post era. For me I'm really looking at blogging behind utility site not just pure information site, since google is clearing the way for the new generative search experience which can give answers to information query. Anyways still looking at keywords and topics that won't trigger GSE....Blogging is not dead but the old blogging is dead, that's why it seems dead. Be new, let's stop cry over the old one and think new. That's my advice

Who cares about "traffic" when the revenue is down...

Traffic drives revenue. If you overdo it on ads to try to increase revenue and lose traffic as a result, your site is history. If you focus on user experience you can grow traffic and monetize it a dozen different ways.
