I’ve rescued three dogs from high kill shelters. My last rescue I was actually going to rescue her 6 months prior with my second rescue Hazel. Unfortunately, someone got her and then found out she was heart worm positive and backed out. Forward to 6 months later and I get a call Daisy is now in Alabama, has been shot, tied to a pole, ended up back at a high kill shelter and now is once again on the euthanasia list and has five minutes before she is going to be euthanized. Yes, you bet I snagged her up. She is the absolute most loving dog I have ever encountered and now is happy at home with us and will never have to worry about that life again. I wish I could adopt them all. Please donate to sanctuary’s, please adopt, please foster and please volunteer time to these sweet baby’s. ❤

Buick, he was under my car. Fortunately, I saw him in the backup camera. Caught him and threw him in the house. Made it to my appointment. Yea! He was chock full of worms, took 4 treatments. He’s terrier/pit/ who knows. He’s 7 months old; has adjusted well to hiking (short ones for now) and has 4 talking buttons that he uses regularly. Ride, walk, play and treat. Yes, I’m totally wrapped around his paw! He’s made the biggest difference in my life! At 65, I never wanted another dog, now I can’t imagine my life without him. About the only place he doesn’t go with me are grocery stores and restaurants.

I volunteered for a local rescue and have had 5 rescue dogs. I drove a Sprinter van from Wisconsin to Texas to pick up dogs to bring back to the rescue. Dogs would go to fosters and they would do potty training, teach to walk with a leash and give them a place to be comfortable and learn how to trust. It was very rewarding. I’m excited to see Kenai’s journey. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

I rescued my Catahoula 7 yrs ago a lot of the same emotions as your rescue. She’s taught me a lot as far as I can’t correct or change her instincts prey drive or not trusting other animals or people that instinct of prey driven is just so strong after all they have been bred to run down wild boar down south and there’s not many boars in Wisconsin…she is 7th dog I’ve adopted I’m 71 by far she is the smartest protective dog I’ve had. I understand fully how positive reinforcement works and it does work.

So I’m from Wisconsin also and I shared alittle on the hate that wolves are getting in our state. My area is a huge hunting population and the wolves have literally taken all the fawns and no one is seeing any deer whatsoever. The farmers are ha ing problems also with their cattle being slaughtered. Clearly it’s not the wicked fault it’s our laws. Because of this video I want to get educated so I can be a voice to have the laws changed so we CAN co exist. I can see both points of view. I’m neither for or against wolves at this point. I hope I don’t get hate back- I meant no disrespect to anyone or their feelings on the subject!!

Thank you for shedding light on this issue! At first I was worried, as I went to a wolf dog sanctuary in Alberta and learned all about how it’s unethical to breed them and the kind of resources they need to thrive. So many of them are left without anyone to take care of them. Many of them don’t do well in the environment of a domestic dog, and also don’t do well out in the wild. They really are a hybrid with completely unique needs. I’m glad you’re giving him a good home ❤

I have always had a German Shepherd Dog; they have always been rescues. The dog I have now was dumped near our house. He was in terrible shape. I could see every bone from his head to the tip of his tail. His ears had motor oil in them, as well as his whole body. He was pretty frazzled for the first month, but he has found his place in the menagerie. He still wants to chase the cat, but the horses have taught him to stay away…however, he still looks at them longingly when they walk by him.❤❤❤thank you for rescuing Kenai.❤

Great job, you guys rock! A Native American co-worker said he saw the spirit of the wolf around me and he had no idea how much I’ve been drawn to them my whole life! I financially “adopted” a beautiful black wolf in a sanctuary some years ago. Even though I’d never seen more than her picture, her untimely death tore me up!

So AWESOME!! I'm sure Rio is in love too😁 Kenai is very sweet. Definitely calmer than other hi-breds I've encountered. I have been doing Siberian Husky Rescue for 25yrs, i understand the importance of vetting homes and homing with the right families. Will be exciting to see his DNA. And you're probably correct on not giving the percentages. But i would bet he is less than 50% wolf, just becuase of his demeaner. He looks like more of a husky personality. Here's to the best success with him 😁 It is obvious he wants your attention 🤣😂💕

Waay back in the dinosaur age, our parents had a beautiful Irish Setter named Copper. She hadn't been fixed (for reasons) so my Dad built her a beautiful, large pen for her to be in when she wasn't inside with us. This pen had 6 foot chain link surrounding it. Well, a neighbor's wolf dog CLIMBED THE FENCE, and boom, Copper was pregnant. I begged and pleaded to keep this one puppy later named Grizzly who was black with bright blue eyes. He grew into the most beautiful dog that I'd ever seen. He was right in the middle as far as wolf and dog behaviors went, but that didn't matter to me. He was my buddy, and I miss him every day. I wish only the very best for you, Ben, and Kenai moving forward. They're such a blessing and will open up a whole new world to you! 🥰
@garywestlake7946Күн бұрын
Oh my goodness! Reading this brought back memories of my Irish Setter. Growing up, I had the most amazing, sassy girl. Her name was Cinnamon. Copper is a beautiful name, too! We were inseparable. She went with me every morning to deliver the Chicago Tribune. Customers would leave her treats every so often. I swore I would always have a Setter. She left this world a few years before her time, and it was such a devastating loss. I would periodically search for Irish Setter puppies, but nothing ever came of it. It took 30 years and a Corgi puppy to make me feel the same way. She just turned 6-years old a few days ago, and I already dread how my soul will hurt like hell when it's her time. One of the biggest tragedies in life is that dogs don't live longer.

@@garywestlake7946 Oh, your puppy sounds adorable! But yes, we pay a very high price for loving our pets, don't we? But it's worth every second leading up to the inevitable pain of separation. Give that pupper a big ol' hug n' kiss from this internet stranger, will you? 🥰

I researched adopting a wolf mix rescue and decided since I’m a Nomad this was not the best , nor suitable life . I am an Alaskan raised in a cabin and aware of wolves since a child, these are very special animals and allowing them to remain natural is a challenge for many adopters today. Instead I found a lovely Sable Shepherd who is a perfect travel partner and Protector on the road….I took a lot of time with her , solo camping and she accompanied me to Alaska and Northern BC , this last summer/Fall.. Beautiful Wolf hybrid..I wish you the best with him..

Love you guys for doing this... he will end up giving you more then you give him, rescue animals are like that. If you've never seen the 3.3.3 rule them it's very true - a dog needs 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your expectations of them and 3 months to build a bond. This was true of my boy, the longer we have had him the more he opens up and we understand what he went through, its been 5 years and we are still having to change ourselves to meet him where he is at (and he is still the most loving dog in the world). All the best to you guys!!!.

Thanks so much for sharing! Wolves, coyotes a lot of wild animals are under attack when humans are the ones destroying their homes. So in effect of course that will cause some trouble with people. There needs to be tougher laws on breeding wild or non wild animals. Even just cats and dogs are suffering with shelters struggling. Kenai made me think of my pup. I took her in from a not great situation. I am so happy that I have her now she has a good life!! We should not think it is fun to have an animal because we can have power over them, we should think of them as our family as brothers and sisters. They have a heartbeat and can feel pain and suffer. They deserve our respect. Thanks again so much for making this video this information is so important!
