Watermelon, pumpkin, zucchini , cucumber can be planted in the ground in large areas as they will run for meters and take up a to. Of space. You’ll get maybe 10-20 watermelons from one plant. The beds won’t accomodate them xx
@4evaMrsBrentWeston13 сағат бұрын
Totally... I just went 'OH NO' when I saw he was planting watermelon's in those planters... they would have been better planted on the outside with them going down towards the slope way... hard to mow the grass though however so got to watch out for snakes then...
@Artemida3473 сағат бұрын
I can just imagine all the snakes that'll take residency beneath all those big leaves😅
@yorkie752 сағат бұрын
Yep, the watermelon plants are going to take over those beds and much of the ground inside the fenced in space
@georgeattig80883 сағат бұрын
Please move the watermelon plants and any others (e.g., cucumbers) that need a lot of space to a larger outside area. They will ruin your garden area by running all over the place. Also move the asparagus to an outside area. It takes up a lot of space and will self seed. You also shouldn’t harvest it for 1 year. Move the gooseberries as well. The mature plants can get huge. Maybe set an area in your yard/lawn dedicated to berry bushes. Consult your nursery or the internet about what plants are suitable for raised beds in the size you have. It will be easier to transplant them now than later.
@deestanley983620 минут бұрын
Garden area looks great! But I have to agree with others, the watermelon will push every other plant out of the planter. They need to be on the ground, so they have room to spread out!😊❤
@norliahnasir225211 минут бұрын
@@georgeattig8088 the same can also be said of sweet potato too I guess. There should be a raised bed dedicated to just sweet potato only. But you can plant more than one slip in one bed.

oh man, the garden patches look great but even more so at night. The lighting is amazing. One suggestion: Would you be able to put a camera on a high stick or on a nearby tree or something and film the garden growing 24/7? Then in a few weeks, you can do the ultimate timelapse. It's as satisfaying as the before/after shots :) Also, you've been living there for over a year? That means I've been following you for well over a year. I remember when you did your video of stopping the van life to buy land, I told myself "oh no, this is going to take ages (the search, the buying and waiting to be able to move in etc), I'm going to miss his videos." Yet it feels like it was yesterday and looks at you, over a year in this place already. Time flies!! You definitelly need a big table for your wonderful deck and leave the small one in the garden patches, it's perfect there.

I'm so PROUD of you! It's BEAUTIFUL at day and at night. Your Produce will be so rewarding. My father always had a garden. When I got married my husband continued the tradition. My husband of 37 years died two years ago and I was in a slumped and did not tend to the garden. But, through the weeds his garlic continued to grow two summers in a row. ❤ This year I will grow a fall garden in the beautiful raised beds he made. We have enjoyed our garden in the past. Even had fun with the nieces and nephews helping pick veggies

Great garden. I just planted 130 cloves of garlic. Last fall, I planted 90 and didn’t have enough for replanting, ourselves, friends and family. Love that it gets planted the fall for May/June harvesting. So much better than store bought! ❤️from Michigan
@allysonberry870816 минут бұрын
Just a reminder, newly planted garden plants will need overhead watering until roots get established (probably at least 2 weeks). Not just a spritz, but deep watering encouraging their roots to seek the water beneath. Expect some losses during your first few years as you experiment with what grows best in your conditions. Always consult the local garden center with questions. They are full of garden knowledge for your area. Good luck and can’t wait to see what dinners you make with this bounty!

I would plant the Gooseberry by the fence not in the bed. Also so some research on the Asparagus because I think you need a big bed which you bury it in and build up the bed as it grows and when established it will come up year on year. You could also grow a few carrots . Beans climbing over fence.

Great planting, I hope that hot compost doesn’t burn the plants roots? Dig in an egg with the tomatoes 🍅 for calcium midway thru season smash egg and it will fertilise and add more growth yep marigolds for blossom end rot Save your toilet rolls as you can use them as seed growing they will disintegrate when planted in soil.Plant basil with the tomatoes as it repels pests. ,so marigolds, egg, basil for tomatoes 🍅 and only water from bottom don’t get leaves wet but ur using wicking beds .

Great job on the garden. A heads up for you on the asparagus - you won't get a harvest for three years. You don't pick at all the first year, and then very sparingly or not at all the second year. Then in the 3rd year, your crowns will be established and this perennial vegetable with thrive for 20 - 30 years. Asparagus can be a bed all by itself. It doesn't like companion plants and requires regular watering at first. It becomes drought tolerant as it's established. I'm not sure how that will fair in your rainforest. Oh. and asparagus ferns grow about 3-5ft a year. You might want a step ladder in your garden. ❤🌱
