Hey guys, I gotta address this now... Apparently I had a brain fart in the video. My 1911 weighs 3.7lbs fully loaded and I guess my brain must have switched those numbers and I compared the 1911 to the weight of this rifle and I thought no more about it through editing. Several of you have pointed it out to me in the comments and you're right, the 1911 does not weigh 7lbs. A more accurate comparison to the weight of the Steven's 334 would be my AR-15 that weighs a little over 6.7lbs. Sorry for the confusion!

It’s not supposed to be adjusted. It’s being marketed as having an adjustable trigger, but the manual states the adjuster screws are set from the factory and not to be adjusted. I’m guessing the loctited them in. My screw immediately started stripping out when I tried. Bit of a fumble by savage marketing team.
@theidahorifleman Жыл бұрын
"Not to be adjusted", but if you can get the loc-tite loose without damaging the screw, then turning the screw inward lessens the poundage and turning the screw out increases it
@DonnieDispersed Жыл бұрын
@@theidahorifleman you inspired me to go out and take a second look at it. Decided to put some heat on the screw and trigger with the tip of a soldering iron. Then supporting the back side of the trigger with the soldering iron I was able to turn the screw in a bit. Just have to make sure to push in squarely with the screw driver while turning to avoid stripping out the slot. I was careful to use the correct screw driver bit but still rounded off the slot a bit. Touched it up with a small file to get the burrs off and the trigger is much nicer now. Actually made it too light and had to back out slightly. Curious to see what affect it’ll have on the groups. 👍
@theidahorifleman Жыл бұрын
They have to put in the manual not to adjust the trigger in case someone does someone wrong and injures or kills themselves with a hair trigger. Everyone is very concerned with liability and for good reason. There's usually a void to the warranty that goes with changing settings, just like with the FN SCAR voiding the warranty if you attach a suppressor. I'm of the opinion that you should have a gun that you love to run, the way you want to run it. I'll pass on the information that I learn about how to make some adjustments anytime that I can - with the disclaimer that I'm not a qualified gunsmith and any changes made to your firearms should be done safely and in a controlled environment with an unloaded weapon. I will show you and tell you what I did, but I won't be held liable if you attempt to do the same and are injured or killed or if your weapon fails to function afterwards. Gotta cover myself too, ya know!

I like the fact you can lock the bolt to prevent accidental opening while going through dense bush. Great. Also like the 3 stage safety as well as the 2 stage trigger. Boy, they did pack a lot of features I like for a good price BUT- And this is a big issue for me- no instructions on how to disassemble the bolt. They have joined growing community of gun makers that consider end users to be idiots who are to take the bolt to gunsmith for internal cleaning or any other issue. Why? Paul Mauser is rolling in his grave. Internal components of the bolt do get dirty, greasy or broken. If someone accidentally falls down or drops the gun in the mud and the bolt gets dirty inside while hunting what are they suppose to do? In the old days you would disassemble the bolt right there, cleaned it up and kept moving. Today? Bring an extra rifle or extra bolt? On general note; I don't care how well the guns shoot in terms of sub moa etc. because hunting rifles are not made to do long distance competition in clean and controlled environment you have on the range. They are meant to be taken through the roughest spots in pursue of the game. They are also meant to save your bacon if suddenly attacked by charging bear. I don't want to keep thinking in the back of my mind if the extractor will break, if there will be a light primer strike, will my trigger fail because it is soo "cool and light" yet prone to corrosion in the real world environment. Ask guides in Africa what they carry. Usually Mauser style controlled feed rifle. I rely on those myself but I would love to try this rifle if only Savage would post a note on how to disassemble the bolt.

That's the thing to keep in mind with this rifle - it is very much a sub-$500 gun. I paid in the neighborhood of $375 for it. It is marketed for people who don't want to spend (or can't spend) $500 or more on a rifle. It's a budget gun and you're not going to get the best for that price.

How is this a review? SHOOT THE RIFLE! What matters is, is it accurate? Post groups..
@theidahorifleman Жыл бұрын
It all matters. Firearms aren't just point and shoot. You should be familiar with the inner workings and the specs of the gun. You also have to know if the gun is built well, if it isn't, then it's not going to shoot worth a crap. The long range shooting video is coming. I just need to make the drive out to the range. It's a little bit of a drive and I've been really busy with life and work, so I apologize that I haven't gotten it done sooner. It will be coming soon. In the meantime, I do have a video shooting the rifle through a chronograph for ballistic readings. It is a very nice rifle to shoot.

A 1911 doesn’t weigh 7 pounds do your homework and you wont look so stupid and it is what it is a entry level hunting rifle, thats all.

You're certainly a polite one. It would have been just as easy to tell me that I mis-spoke instead of calling me stupid, but I'm sure you're right about everything all the time and you never mis-speak or make mistakes. You're correct that I was wrong in my comparison. My 1911 weighs 3.7lbs fully loaded (I knew there was a 7 in that number somewhere). A better comparison would have been my AR-15 coming in at just over 6.7lbs.

Average Turkish wages are, generally speaking, about a third of the average wage of people in the UK. The cost of living in Turkey is also less than that of the UK. While there are no reports on wages from ATA firearms, you can hardly call it slavery.

@@theidahorifleman There are more than 1.3 million people living in modern slavery in Turkey, which ranks fifth among 151 countries in which modern slavery is the most prevalent, according to the results of the 2023 Global Slavery Index. The study, which concerns data in 2021, was produced by the Australian-based human rights organization Walk Free and released on Wednesday. In the index modern slavery is described as covering “a set of specific legal concepts including forced labor, debt bondage, forced marriage, slavery and slavery-like practices, and human trafficking.” You should feel really sick with yourself...
