I don't know what people will think of this. When I change the fuel filter on my 91 7.3 (essentially stock) I warm the truck up all the way, pull the filter fill the new one with atf throw it on there and just start the truck with my foot to the floor lol gets all the air out every time.

The 6.9l IDI is such a great engine, simple, generally easy to fix, super reliable. I own one now it's in a 1985 F250 standard cab long bed 4x4 6.9l IDI/4 speed. It's my second truck, basically the same as my first one which was an '84 which I kick myself for selling back to the guy I bought it from even if it was for more money than I paid him for it. Excellent, go anywhere trucks that get great miles per gallon than basically every ither truck on the market now. They're not terribly fast😅😂 and they can smoke pretty well under a good load but I'll never sell this one. It's getting new dash top, door cards, new window and door seals, rear disc brake conversion, and some other minor mods, I plan toput a military S250G electronics shelter into the bed as a camper conversion that's going to be perfect for all seasons with the amount of insulation it has. It's going to be a great rig when it's completed!

Thanks for the video, my back brakes wouldn't lock up but they would grab before front brakes, seeing your video I shopped around and summit racing had the parts to make the same thing as what you have, haven't installed yet, so this will work without a proportioning valve?

Hey there Aspie, I have a question for ya. I just purchased a 1989 Ford E350 Ambulance for $2,000.00. It has a 7.3 IDI Diesel, but has not been started or ran since 2020. My hope is to be lucky enough to get away with just replacing both batteries, both fuel filters, adding fresh fuel in the tank with good injector cleaner, prime the fuel system to purge air, and have it fire up. But I am being told by several people, that the Injector Pump will be no good, and will need to be replaced, and all injectors, and glow plugs will also need replacing. So, what should I do ? What would you do ?

Aspie......husban filled up the truck the other day. 84 f250 6.9 idi. 30 mins later, shit it off for about 10-15 mins, longer then normal crank, fired up and ran a bit rough. Extremely hard to start after, 1 time it wouldnt start. After that its been hard to start cold or warm. 60s and 70s outside. Couple days prior, lots of rain. Station is between two big hills, water ran down those to the parking lot and around their under ground tanks. Started right up decent cold before, warm it fired as soon as you hit the key. Moisture in fuel?

I have a 86 F-250 6.9 with 81,000 miles. Wish I had your trouble shooting knowledge! It's in the shop getting a new glow plug controller and new glow plugs. My water separator is the old metal one with a pull pin. It needs to be replaced but for now I connected the fuel lines together. Any suggestions for a new water separator?
