I knew you were going overboard with exfoliation from your previous videos! I am so happy that you realized that and started to use good hydrating, replenishing products! :) And remember over exfoliation can lead to several problems and can do the opposite of what you are trying to treat i.e. it can make your pigmentation worse!!

Just fix your skin barrier. Concentrate on hydration. No chemical or harsh chemicals for a month. You’ll get your glow back. Once your skin is healed you can reuse your exfoliant slowly to treat your dark spot. Trust at the end of the month it will be less noticeable because at that point your skin will be fully hydrated aka healthy

@@champagnebaby3853 I fixed it by not overdoing it. Just treat my skin first during the night and then during the day do a simple skin routine by just washing my face, moisturizer, then sunscreen. ONLY use actives during the night: retinal, salicylic acid, alpha arbutin, etc (You don't use these all at once, I'm just listing the actives)

I went through something similar. I have oily skin and like you, I used products to combat the oil. After much research and TONS of trial and error I started implementing more hydrating products (tonors and serums) along with exfoliating (with better techniques) and my skin made a beautiful 180 thankfully.

Girl, same! After lockdown, my skin went wack. I just did not know what to do. I tried everything natural, from turmeric, to honey, to bentonite clay and ACV but nothing worked. Almost a month ago, I started using Aronia berry soap, and it has been the best at smoothing me out. It faded my dark spots a little bit too. I'm just about to add treatment to help with the dark spots left behind. I got six bars for $32 at lifebrook.com/fruityfranco I signed up so I got a website. You can check it out and see if it helps.

I remember when it was the summer before I started 9th grade my 2 sisters who had acne went to the dermatologist. I was blessed I never had acne but my younger and older sister had bad acne. So they went and got prescribed creams for their face. After they got their creams I would secretly use them sometimes because I thought they were good for your face. I remember one of them was a retinoid and the other one was tretinoin and there was another one I forgot what it was. But I would use all three of them at once and use wayyy more than a pea size amount. I got a chemical burn and face was sooo messed up when it was my first day of 9th grade. I ended up fixing my face by using Vaseline to moisturize because my skin was too sensitive for anything else. It took like 3 months to fix my face and to make it back to normal.

I finally faded my hyperpigmentation, but once quarantine hit I tried a new soap that stripped my moisture barrier. My hyperpigmentation is back and much worse because that area got so dehydrated. Niacinamide has repaired my barrier a lot, and i now use a moisturising toner, but I need a good cleanser recommendation. One that will keep me hydrated but still cleanse my pores because I have oily clog-prone skin. If it doesn't come in plastic packaging you get EXTRA points!

girl same my skin used to be close to flawless all my life i was lucky didn’t have to put much thought into it but i think that’s what made it so robust. we wonder why men have such good skin and it’s coz they don’t do too much! of course people with hormonal or cystic acne have a different story tho. but i was oblivious about in-depth skincare and at some point i wanted to treat my slight hyperpigmentation but of course i ruined my skin. i’m still dealing with acne and dryness. i really think i destroyed my barrier and my skin has just been in shock and out of wack for a while. it’s getting better but it’ll take time especially for us melanated girlies ☹️ dealing with scarring is tiring. i will say that using any sort of petrolotum for scarring is a very standard and go to route for quick efficient healing. keep it moisturized and use sunscreen!

Thank you for this video... if you had to choose one cleanser, one toner and one moisturizer... what would you choose? Could the sun screen double as the moisturizer?

I just ordered hyaluronic acid. I hope it helps my skin routine!

It's also known as the acid mantle, that what I was searching for when I came across this. I'm pretty sure anything over a pH of 5 breaks down the barrier/makes it no longer acidic

Can I ask, how long did it take you to get your skin back to normal? 2 months 3 months?? I’m currently going through this exact thing and I’m 2 weeks in to a repairing routine but it’s such a slow process. I do see change but I still get new acne and it’s so sad and depressing
@tra8308

While you were repairing your moisture barrier did you experience an increase in breakouts? I keep waking up with new little itchy bumps and white heads. I was wondering if this was normal.
@daymartinez4648
@daymartinez4648 2 жыл бұрын
I think that’s normal because your skin is balancing it’s natural oils again!

If you don’t have access to a dermatologist pls do check their channels out Dr. Vanita Rattan (specializes in skin for WOC & she spills the tea on common products such as pixi, the ordinary) also Dr. Dray gives bomb skincare advice I’ve learned so much 🥰❤️

Hi! I realized I have a compromised skin barrier, but when I started moisturizing heavily, I started to break out? But the skin around the break outs are improving??? Is this part of the healing process? How do I clear the breakouts while still repairing my moisture barrier?
