You can press the hamburger multible times in the settings menu to access the debug menu there you can activate auto clikker and sonic speed it makes the simulation go a lot faster and you can turn off diplomacy so that they can not declare war or piece so that you are the only one who can effect the relassions of the nations is you also by clikking a nation and scrolling down you can see town loyalty and raining acid or nuking the soil you can create an wasteland biome that will create acid trees and acid slimes and spawn rats.

I think the issue with this is that countries only have 1 village and therefore they can only have 1 army so they can only focus on one front. With more villages within a country, not only can countries spread out their armies, they can also expand by taking small bits of land instead of taking the whole nation itself.
