Yup, but for some reason they decided it has to drain rupees faster than Super Sonic drains rings. Mass amounts of rupees are not easy to come by at the point of the game you would likely get the magic armour since you've probably already looted all the good chests. I mean, there is the guy who needs you to collect all the poe souls as he'll give you a ton of money every time you enter his house after getting all of them, but going to Castle Town for an emergency wallet fill-up is silly.

I kinda love the rupee armor as I see it as a bit of a troll by the devs. A common refrain in many Zelda games is that they throw more rupees at you then you have any real use for, so you usually end up with a stockpile of them. Well Twilight Princess gives you the armor which ensures you'll always have a use for rupees, but if you play enough Zelda you'll rarely, if ever, even need it. XD

I heard a side story about that guy at Malo Mart (Castle Town) once. He's the same guy who was running the shop before Malo bought it, but he was misarable. His family hated him, and so he came to work every day in a foul mood, which is why he was acting so stuck-up when you met him. When Malo bought his shop, he was aghast, and when he had to put on that new uniform and dance around like an idiot, he hated every second of it. But he ended up too tired from work every day to be angry at his family, and as a result, his family life actually improved, and came to like it more and more. The story ends with him and his family happy.

The Rupee armor comes in handy as a backup armor fighting the last few bosses of the game and darknuts so it’s not totally useless later on in the game. You just have to use it sparingly and strategically.

It's a shame that the magic armour is worthless. It's honestly so cool looking, but since it drains rupees simply for wearing it and becomes a burden when you run out, there is almost no moment when you will ever use it. See, when I played the wii edition, the wii edition didn't have stamps. I learned that the stamps in the wii u version replaced a bunch of the chests that used to have rupees. So what happened every dungeon? I encountered sooo many rupees and my wallet was always full so I had to leave them behind. I started a thing where after I got the initial larger wallet off of Agitha, I would empty my wallet on whatever gear or resources I could(especially the bridge fund and the piece of heart rupee guy because you can do them in chunks with leftover cash), enter the dungeon, and fill up my wallet. There would still be leftover rupees anyway in the dungeons, just less. Because of that, I never needed to grind for money for anything, especially when I could just sell my bugs to Agitha, or find some underwater in Zora's domain. Bought literally everything I could and did all the quests. Going into the final boss fight, I had a full 1000 rupee wallet and magic armor I could have equipped, especially since I ended up drinking my rare chu jelly, but I simply forgot it existed when it could have been useful lol

Honestly, I got so good at playing the "Flight By Fowl" game (the cannon/chicken gliding game on Lake Hylia) that I was able to get rupees pretty easily. Not only do you collect rupees on the way down, but the top chest always respawns, and always has an Orange Rupee in it, so just loop it over and over and over, and you'll be rich in no time. It's grindy . . . but it can be done.
