I Saved 2 Permadeath Players in Classic EverQuest

I had any extremely close call, saw something I've never seen happen before, & I saved 2 permadeath characters in this episode of Project 1999 adventures. ‪@LevelUpLarry‬

@@IonBlaze1 Basically, they grossly mishandled the duplication bugs introduced with the launch of Gates of Discord, especially because their first fix enabled more duplications that were not rolled back, and they denied the basic mathematics that proved what a bad idea their fix was. I just couldn't bring myself to pay another dime towards their salaries. It wasn't just one staff. It took management to make such a bad decision and stick to it. I'm waiting for Pantheon Rise of the Fallen, and Ashes of Creation. I would also try Monsters and Memories.

As always absolute quality content. I'm way over 10k+ hours in EQ, and I always learn something from your videos. The helping of the hardcore players was awesome too, I play entirely Hard Core in most of my games now, and it's amazing when someone comes out of nowhere and give you a hand, without asking for it. Really makes the world feel alive again, quite literally :)

Regarding the bit where you enjoyed people wanting you in their groups - had a similar situation once. Got a PUG in Lower Guk on the Coirnav server in 2018 with an Enchanter. Monk is pulling, consistently bringing in 3, 4, 5. Brought in 7 once due to respawns on the way back. It happens. I was able to keep it all locked down and everyone lived. Monk says "I've never felt more comfortable pulling multiples than I have with you in this group. Complete confidence that we'll be fine." It was awesome! First time I had mained an enchanter, too. (And I also didn't have AE mez ... single-targeted the whole camp.)

@@IonBlaze1 Throwing in a couple stuns here & there made it a touch more manageable. Especially with Entrance being a 72 second mez, it helped. Kept up my level 2 mez also just to lock a couple down briefly then came back to them with Entrance. Strategy n whatnot!

One of the best Enchanters on the Xev server back in the day, having the top guilds begging me to join them was a great boost to my ego for sure, but I preferred to join the low-level guilds as the achievements felt so much better...

@@IonBlaze1 Well, let me be clear that I was originally on Povar before they created Xev which I moved too because of over crowding on Povar. I was in the top guild on Povar and when I left for Xev I no longer had it in me to do the "Hard-Core" raiding, but everybody knew me who also did the server transfer and thus :Begged" for me to join their guild or groups as good Enchanters were in short supply...

I have to say.. you inspired me to make a new bard on test… I played one years ago and at the time when I stopped playing he was level 63 and he was like 50% done with his epic 1.0… I made a new bard this past Saturday.. ( 3 days ago ) I got level 45 ( I camped the ghoul assassin in lower guk and got his mask )….then I started camping Eldrig just to see if I would get lucky and see him spawn.. plus armor drops there is pretty good for that level bard…finally got Eldrig after hours of camping here and level 50…..I got the bug to complete his epic.. and I did complete it .. day and a half to complete epic 1.0… next stop level 70 … epic 1.5 here I come…

Also another issue with TOFS and Crys caverns are they are just too far out of the way. So if you die, unless you get a rez it is a pain to get back. Especially when you can do MM CE till 40 then 40+ in COM

There was a time in early TBC WoW where I felt important and needed being the top 1 or 2 best prot warriors in my guild. That's the only time, outside of Everquest, where I felt needed. I do love the reputation. When I was active I had a pretty good & strong reputation on P99 Blue. I don't play much anymore but have been tempted to roll a class on Green I don't have on Blue just to try it out again.

@@IonBlaze1 Not in TBC. TBC was VERY CC heavy. You needed rogue sap, hunter ice trap, mage sheep, etc. The pulls, especially on Heroic dungeons, had to be heavily CCd. I think that is one of the main reasons I liked TBC so much. The slower pace and reliance on CC abilities. Reminds me a lot of Everquest. Reminds me of many of the points you brought up in this video about Enchanter CC & Bard tools like Bind Sight and Lull not needing LoS. That sort of depth was lost after TBC. In WoTLK things became much faster pace and Prot warriors got a cone aoe, etc. It all kinda went downhill from there IMO.

I had that feeling with my cleric in EQ and my Defiler in EQ2. Probably more so with my Defiler OokOok in EQ2. It is a nice feeling getting tells asking if you wanna go do super hard zones that require really good solo healers so the group can have an extra DPS to maximize damage.

That negative charisma staff is useful for when you need a critical failure in a lull pull through a locked door, via eye if zomm and shrink/hafling mask (cough VP).

@@IonBlaze1 it's useful for when you don't have a high enough rogue to open a door, VP requires a max Lockpick rogue for one of the rooms so using a crit faik lull pull is a work around. There are other places you can use this technique, but that's the most famous example. Especially with selos working in VP as an outdoor zone bards can pull dragons to the tag spot for monks pullers to split the named out.

Being able to charm mobs pets seems to be a P99 thing. Not sure if that was the case back then and eventually got changed or not. Amazing to see the necro pet get charmed I have never seen that and goes into that same category as player pets now are immune to that. My bard buddy would charm all those shamans when pulled to instantly get rid of their pets. P99 was fun off and on for awhile but the game just evolves and gets better imo.

It's all good though, it's a high skill game and I've only been playing again for a few months after a 20 year hiades from EQ, so hopefully with time I'll get better. I just picked up the game again after like 8 years away. I cant remember anything lol. But you hit on a something that i just dealt with i was confused about with the little city / port in the overthere. Online it said that city is on evil faction , and you said it also that the DE illusion let you not be KOS. I tried to run there on my 12 Iksar SK to take the boat but was killed immediately by a dragoon. I ran back and got the corpse and started conning things i could see and out of 4 NPC i was KOS to 3, and dubious to the last. So what gives lol? I thought it was an evil city?
